Chapter 289 I'll Dig Out My Heart for You

Looking at the girl in front of him, Luo Bai felt particularly helpless. Was he really so utterly unworthy of her trust?

"We're about to become husband and wife, and you still don't trust me like this. What am I supposed to do?" Luo Bai looked very hurt.

“You haven’t done anything that would make me trust you,” Ayao said.

Luo Bai protested, "Since I met you, I've done almost everything you asked for. Isn't that enough? Do you really expect me to give you my heart?"

He clutched his heart with one hand, as if he would rip out his heart and give it to Ayao if she asked him to.

“You know perfectly well that I’m worried about Master, yet you still keep me under house arrest here. If you really like me that much, you should let me go to Master,” A-Yao said.

Luo Bai looked into her deep blue eyes: "If I let you leave like this, I'm afraid you'll never come back. With your master by your side, you'll probably forget me completely. After giving so much, if I end up losing both you and everything else, wouldn't that be a huge loss for me?"

"Look at you, look at you, you're so calculating with me. Is this what you call true love? If you truly love someone, you won't worry about what you give, you'll..."

As Ayao spoke, she thought of Xu Fengzhi. In her past life, when he saved her, he never thought of asking her to repay him. In this life, he never asked her to love him. Even though he had become a part of Lou Munan, he was still protecting her. In the end, because of her, he even lost his last bit of consciousness.

Seeing the girl before him suddenly fall silent, her head bowed, shrouded in a heavy sorrow, lost in painful memories, Luo Bai frowned. Whom was she grieving for? A man?

Jealousy surged within me.

Emotions he hadn't felt in a long time tore at his heart, and he recalled memories from trillions of years ago that had long been buried in the dust of time.

"Who did you think of?" Luo Bai asked.

“Someone you don’t know.” Ayao looked at Luo Bai, whose smile had vanished.

"A man?"

"Do you care a lot?"

"Of course I care. You're my future wife, and my fiancée is grieving for another man. How could I not care?" Luo Bai walked to A Yao's side and took her hand. He still didn't understand her past.

How exactly did she come to know herself?

What secret is she hiding?

And Lou Munan, could she have already been in contact with Lou Munan?

Thinking of Lou Munan, Luo Bai unconsciously tightened his grip on A Yao's hand. He didn't want what happened trillions of years ago to happen again.

Ayao, in pain, pushed Luo Bai away:

What are you doing?

Seeing her angry expression, Luo Bai apologized, saying, "I'm sorry, I was thinking about some unpleasant things."

"Who made you unhappy? I'd really like to know," Ayao said.

Luo Bai looked into her eyes, almost saying Lou Munan's name, but he swallowed the words back. Just like before, when he was with A Tang, the thing he avoided mentioning Lou Munan the most was...

“You’re too curious, that’s not a good thing,” Luo Bai said, standing up and sitting down opposite A Yao.

“I don’t think so,” Ayao said.

"Let's get married as soon as possible!" Luo Bai suddenly said.

"You said you wanted to see me become a dragon? Really?" Ayao's gaze sharpened.

"What? You don't want to?" Luo Bai asked.

"Of course I don't want to. I'm a phoenix, I won't be a mudfish," Ayao said, crossing her arms over her chest.

"You don't want to become a dragon because you still want to go back to Feng Wu's side?" Luo Bai looked directly into A Yao's eyes.

"I...I..." Ayao looked away guiltily.

“They say a person should keep their word. You promised me that if I saved Feng Wu, you would become my concubine. But you never even considered keeping your promise. To be honest, I’m a little angry. I might as well have just killed Feng Wu; that would have made you behave.” Luo Bai said.

Bang!

Ayao excitedly slammed her hand on the table.

"You dare! If you dare touch a single hair on my master's head, I swear I will never let you get away with this, I will never let you live under the same sky."

Luo Bai sighed heavily: "If you really hate me, there's nothing I can do. I should at least have one of you, your body and your heart."

Ayao clenched one of her hands into a fist inside her sleeve. Luo Bai was a monster; she couldn't really confront him head-on. If she really angered him, it would be a loss that would harm her master. She had to calm him down first. Once her master and she had recovered their strength, he wouldn't have a say in what she wanted to do.

Ayao's anger vanished, replaced by a gentle tone:

"I didn't say I wouldn't keep my promise. It's just that my master's life is hanging in the balance, and I'm worried sick. If you really like me, why don't you help my master again? Once she's safe, I can stay by your side in peace. Wouldn't that be better?"

Luo Bai laughed and said, "But I can't find your master. Feng Wu has disappeared and no one knows where she is now."

Suddenly, A Yao walked over to Luo Bai's side, sat down next to him, and took his arm. In a coquettish tone, she said, "Why don't you come with me to find my master? I'm sure I can find her. I just want to see her once, okay?"

"No!" Luo Bai refused without even thinking.

"I didn't say I was going alone, I said I wanted you to come with me, are you afraid I'll run away? Okay~" Ayao hugged the man's arm and acted coquettishly, her sweet voice disgusting herself.
