Friday arrived as scheduled.
Although movie theaters are busiest in the afternoon and evening, not everyone needs to go to work.
At 11 a.m., some idle people were already heading towards the movie theater.
The most captivating film recently has undoubtedly been 'Mr. Vampire', produced by Da Xu Culture.
One advantage of watching horror movies in the morning is that it's almost noon by the time you finish.
The sun is blazing at this time, so there's no need to worry about any aftereffects of watching the movie.
Watching horror movies late at night can be quite unpleasant for those with a weak heart.
Of course, there are also those who enjoy seeking this kind of thrill, but they belong to a niche group and will not be discussed here.
Soon, it was 11:20, and Mr. Vampire's first screening began simultaneously across the entire city.
In fact, for most cinemas, this is the only film they are showing at this time.
Because the only movie that can probably get people to go to the cinema on a Friday morning is Mr. Vampire.
As the lights dimmed in the screening room, the audience members became slightly nervous.
Fortunately, as the screen lit up, there wasn't a scene that was terrifyingly frightening right away, but of course, it was definitely not easy either.
Because the film opens in a mortuary filled with coffins, where 'Wencai' lights incense and pulls back a curtain.
The next moment, gasps could be heard in the screening room.
That's right! Just a few seconds into the video, the setup began: a line of zombies with yellow talismans stuck to their foreheads appeared before the audience.
Inside the screening room, the audience was constantly buzzing with discussion:
"My God, are these zombies with talismans stuck to their foreheads? They don't look like the ones in the promotional videos."
"Damn, this guy in the movie is so brave, standing in front of so many corpses, ugh..."
"By the way, why do they all stick a talisman on their foreheads? What's it for?"
"Isn't that obvious? Of course it's to counter zombies! The zombies in the behind-the-scenes footage bite!"
...
Fortunately, the group of zombies didn't cause any trouble, which relieved the audience.
However, before they could even catch their breath, strange things began to happen when 'Wencai' went to a coffin to light incense.
"Holy crap, what's inside this coffin? Why did they remove the incense?"
"It really is a horror movie! I kind of regret watching it. What should I do? Will it scare someone to death?!"
"Was it this scary from the beginning? Luckily it was only noon..."
"That scared the hell out of me, but damn, it's kind of funny. Wait, why did the zombie lose its teeth?"
...
As the film unfolds, everyone realizes it was a false alarm.
But the false alarm quickly turned into a real fright, because all the zombie talismans fell off, and the real zombies started moving.
...
From the very beginning, the film's pace is incredibly fast.
The movie's main characters, "Uncle Nine" and "Master Four Eyes," also appeared. After some maneuvering, all the zombies were subdued.
At this point, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hahaha, it's not that scary after all! These two Taoist priests are amazing!"
"The Taoist priest is indeed powerful, but these two disciples seem a bit unreliable; how dare they cause trouble in a place like this..."
"Did you notice? The actor playing Qiu Sheng is Director Xu. This time he really didn't play the lead role; he played the second male lead."
"Oh, so that was just a little incident. The movie hasn't really started yet."
...
The next part of the movie's plot involves the relocation of the Ren family patriarch's grave, where the famous line, "The ancestors... should be buried upright..." which appeared in the promotional materials, reappears.
Some viewers who had seen the behind-the-scenes footage smiled knowingly. As for the terrifying atmosphere, since the threshold was raised at the beginning, no one felt anything at this moment.
It wasn't until inside the mortuary, when Old Master Ren turned into a zombie, broke open the coffin, and escaped, that the audience's hearts began to race again.
Soon, everyone witnessed the zombie biting people, and Master Ren died on the spot...
"My God, zombies really do bite, and why is it biting its own family members?"
"Holy crap, Uncle Nine was mistaken for the murderer just because he has long fingernails, hahaha, everyone around him has long fingernails."
"Master Jiu has been locked up. Why do I have a feeling that something's wrong?"
"Impressive, Qiu Sheng's kung fu is really good, he jumped down from such a high place in one go."
"Damn, this security captain is so mean, he's infuriating."
"That's right, this guy looks sleazy. Damn, he even tried to interrogate Uncle Nine. Luckily, it was just pigskin..."
...
As the audience murmured among themselves, the bitten Master Ren soon turned into a zombie.
One of the more exciting fight scenes in the film then appeared before the audience.
The fact that the original Master Ren became invulnerable to swords and bullets after turning into a zombie shocked the audience with the power and terror of zombies.
Fortunately, after a struggle between Uncle Nine and his apprentice Qiu Sheng, they finally subdued him.
Of course, the security captain, who was more trouble than he was worth, became the object of everyone's dislike.
If it weren't for this jerk, none of those dangerous scenes would have happened...
Time passed little by little.
In the screening room, gasps of surprise punctuated the moments between bursts of laughter and exclamations.
Although Mr. Vampire is a horror movie, it also incorporates a lot of comedic elements.
So overall, the film's atmosphere doesn't solely lean towards horror and suspense.
