"Old man Qiao, hurry up and bring another case of beer, and a few more side dishes. We guys haven't finished eating yet!"
At a street food stall.
A group of carefree young men were eating and drinking together when they noticed that the beer under the table was empty. One of them started yelling at the food stall owner.
The old man, Qiao, glanced at the group of young people, sighed inwardly, and finally carried over a case of beer, asking:
"Brother Fei, are you still extending credit this time? You've racked up at least a thousand yuan in debt at my shop this month..."
"Old man Qiao, are you worried that we brothers won't pay you? Don't worry, we'll just owe you for a few days. We'll definitely pay you back when we have the money. Stop nagging, hurry up and put down the beer, then go to the back and cook a few more dishes for us brothers!"
The blond-haired man took the beer with a disgruntled expression and said something.
"Alright, you guys wait here, I'll go cook!"
Upon hearing this, Old Man Qiao sighed again and slowly walked towards the kitchen.
As for his feelings, he was already fed up with it.
He thought to himself, “You all say you’ll pay me back when you have the money, but I don’t think you guys ever have any money at all. What bad luck to run into such a bunch of scoundrels.”
Although he was upset, the old man didn't dare to offend these young men.
After all, these bachelors do nothing all day long, and as the saying goes, "they are more trouble than they're worth."
They can't get anything done properly, but if they come to cause trouble, then business is over...
Not to mention Old Man Qiao sighing in the back kitchen, the young men drinking in front were also talking.
"Old Eight, this old man at the bridge keeps coming to ask for money, it's really annoying. We need to find a chance to get some money, otherwise this old man at the bridge will look down on us!"
"Yeah, Brother Ba, we haven't made any money in the last month or so. Life's getting more and more boring. When are you going to take the brothers out to make some money?"
"Brother Ba, I heard that a guy from out of town recently moved into the village and bought Old Man Li's yard by the river on the east side of the village with cash. Maybe he'll make some money off it..."
...
Everyone was talking at once, but the person they were all talking about was a young man with a crew cut.
The crew-cut youth, "Old Eight," looked at everyone and nodded, saying:
"Since he's from out of town, that makes things easier. We'll go over tonight and see what's going on, and get him to give us some benefits!"
"What the myna bird says is right, we'll go after we've had some drinks! Hahahaha."
"I heard that the out-of-towner bought the courtyard from Old Man Li for a lot of money; he must be someone who's not short of cash."
Besides, wouldn't it be strange if someone from out of town came all this way for no apparent reason?
"Exactly, they might come to our village to rob tombs. I've read about that in novels..."
...
"Who cares what he does? Once he's here, even a dragon has to coil up before him!"
"Old Eight" said with great pride.
The other young men were also in high spirits, and after the dishes cooked by Old Man Qiao were served, they ate and drank some more.
As night fell, Lao Ba and the others finally finished eating and drinking!
They got up, greeted Old Man Qiao, said "Keep in the books," and then the group wandered towards the east of the village.
The villagers who saw these young men along the way avoided them at all costs.
Lao Ba and the others didn't care; in fact, they felt incredibly powerful.
Not long after.
These few good-for-nothing guys, who spend their days stealing chickens and dogs in the village, have already arrived at the riverside road of Huilong River.
Before they even reached the small courtyard that Old Li had sold, the group's attention was already drawn to the small courtyard ahead with its lights on.
Then, the group of thugs started talking amongst themselves:
"Myth brother, the lights are on at the young widow's house. Let's go sneak a peek!"
"Yes, Brother Ba, this young widow is truly the most beautiful woman in our village, with her face and figure."
It's such a shame she lost her man at such a young age. It's such a waste to be idle like this, such a damn waste.
"It's good that there are no men around, maybe we'll have a chance to get intimate someday..."
"Wow, monkey, you've really improved! You can even use idioms now! This is huge news!"
"Hahaha, that's for sure! My literary skills have improved dramatically recently, who knows, I might become a writer someday!"
...
Seeing that the group was getting more and more out of control, 'Old Eight' spoke up:
"Alright, stop talking nonsense and get down to business."
This young widow is not someone to be trifled with. We'll deal with her another time. Let's go to Old Man Li's courtyard first.
Since no lights are on, maybe the out-of-towner isn't inside. Let's just climb over the wall and go in.
With Lao Ba's decision, the few restless guys barely managed to suppress their lustful desires.
Soon, they passed the young widow's house and arrived at the small courtyard that Old Man Li had sold to people from out of town.
The courtyard walls in the countryside are not high, only about 1.5 or 1.6 meters high. For these young people, they can easily climb over them with just their hands.
First the first one, then the second one, and soon, along with Lao Ba and several other young people, they all climbed over into the yard.
These guys were used to petty theft in the village and were quite bold; they even seemed rather unhurried at this moment.
One guy even pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight.
But just then, the group noticed a sculpture-like object in the courtyard.
"What is this? I've never heard of Old Man Li having this sculpture in his house!"
"Hey, do you guys think it might be treasure that some outsider dug up from our village while they were robbing graves?"
