Chapter 106 Loyalty

On Lovik Island, Wodek stood in the harbor holding a sword. A sailing ship was docked at the pier. Sufir, who was on the ship, was wearing worn leather armor and jumped off the ship before it dropped anchor.

"Wodek, long time no see."

The two held hands tightly and bumped shoulders. They hadn't seen each other for nearly half a year, but their friendship remained.

"Wodeck!"

There were more than a hundred people on the ship, all of whom were illegitimate children who were expelled from the Tudor Kingdom due to poor protection.

"Everyone, long time no see."

Wodek took everyone off the ship and took them back to Coal City. Xia Lan had already headed south and did not stay to accept the loyalty of these people.

Time will prove that loyalty or not will always change with the passage of time, and the only things that remain unchanged are honor and faith.

But Xia Lan could not give them glory, nor faith. When they knew why Xia Lan left them behind, they were only confused.

The untouchable Faox, the Bolavis they have never been to, and the Ink Sea Dragon Banner they have never fought for are all just distant dreams for them.

Since it is impossible to subdue these people with the aura of a king, it is better to let Wodek, whom they are most familiar with, lead them.

Three years of living and dying together is much better than half an incense stick of talk, and leaving behind a mysterious and distant back is even better.

Entering the castle hall, these illegitimate sons dressed as mercenaries looked at Wodek and a huge sea chart behind him.

In the hall, a wolf-orc was sitting on a step, fiddling with his blue-veined warhammer boredly, with a dozen officers standing upright behind him.

"Everyone, welcome to the Silver Deer Legion. This is Supervisor Goode. Deputy Legion Commander Kahneman is on his way north. I believe you will see him soon."

Sufeil asked in confusion: "Aren't we going to Bohrawis? Why did you send us here?"

"Because only by passing the test of loyalty can you become a true Faox warrior."

As soon as Wodek finished speaking, someone in the audience immediately said in dissatisfaction: "Wodek, we've been wandering together for three years, and this still doesn't earn your trust?"

"Not for me to trust, but for the King of Phaokes to trust."

Wodek looked at Good, but he didn't expect the wolf-beast man to just sit there indifferently. Their eyes met, and Good was confused.

Why? Didn’t you ask me to stay and help you?

"Praise the King of Phaokes!"

Sufeil was the first to react. He drew his sword, stood up, and half-knelt facing south.

The people behind him immediately followed suit, and everyone in the hall knelt down in an instant.

Although the officers of the Silver Deer Legion behind Good had never been to Bolavis, they always respected Xia Lan for helping Carmenla drive away Tone Sudin.

Xia Lan took away the Duolun Legion, but the remaining Silver Deer Legion was also loyal. I just don't know whether this loyalty can last in the upcoming changes.

Wodek asked everyone to stand up and sit down, and looked in the direction of Sufei and others.

"We were once driven out of Tudor for failing to protect a group of young soldiers. Only three of us started families, but our wives and daughters all died while wandering on the road.

Fran, do you remember that heavy rain? Your wife died during childbirth in the rain..."

A bearded man sitting in the chair remained silent, but his eyes were red unconsciously.

Wodek didn't stop talking and looked at the man with greasy hair but handsome appearance.

"Crass, your child died of a fever. More than a hundred of us, who had just left Tudor, couldn't even scrape together a single silver coin to buy him a potion. By the time we broke into a wealthy merchant's shop, stole the gold coins, and brought back the potion, he had already died."

The handsome man did not say anything, but the veins on the hand holding the hilt of the sword bulged and trembled slightly.

"Our brothers have died on mercenary missions, at the claws of monsters, and even for the sake of a single gold coin...

All of this allows us to pay back what we owe Tudor. From now on, you will be loyal to only one man, his name is Shallan Auglos, King of the Phaokes!

You may not have received the same favors from him as our brothers from Brownsea Island in the Legion, but I expect you to honor your oath of allegiance."

"loyalty!"

In the hall, everyone saluted with their right hands on their chests. This was a loyalty ceremony without the host present.

Wodek nodded with satisfaction and pointed the sword in his hand at the nineteen large islands marked on the map. These were also the nineteen large islands occupied by Faugustus.

"Next year, as the weather warms up, nobles with fiefdom orders will come to the Baltic Sea to take over the Baltic Sea's unowned land.

But the prime land and population have already been taken by us, so if they come, they can only occupy the emptied small and medium-sized islands.

If we want to keep these things, we must have a backer, and that is our "hometown" Tudor.

By then, all major powers will have their say, and the Baltic Sea will become a battlefield.”

"But will they trust us? Will they send their legitimate children to take over the territory?"

Some people in the crowd felt that there were too many uncertainties in this matter. They had once been in the aristocratic circle and had some vision, unlike the officers from the White Wave Island opposite who were of civilian origin and were completely confused.

“Of course, they just want to support the pro-Tudor faction in Zilaner. We are not feudal vassals. We are of Tudor origin and occupy so much land, so we are naturally Tudor.

This is the Kingdom of Zilaner. Although the king is gone and the main island is infested with zombies and civil war, we are indeed Zilaner's subjects.

Moreover, all the countries will send people here, and by then there will be good and bad people mixed together, so we can definitely have the best of both worlds.

I've already guessed what these people want: obedient puppets, garrisoned ports, ample military funds. We can provide anything that the Thirteen Families haven't given us."
