Chapter 105 Solitude in the Wooden House 4

Zhou Chenyu glanced at his legs, raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Leave this to me!"

She patted her chest and walked barefoot into the pool.

“Zhou…” Yang Xi took a step to catch up, but the movement aggravated the wounds on his body, and the tearing pain spread to his limbs and bones. He had no choice but to stop, and slowly raised his eyes. The stream water had already submerged Zhou Chenyu’s knees.

The mountain stream was cold because it was devoid of sunlight, and with the low temperatures of early autumn, Zhou Chenyu couldn't help but shiver a couple of times after being soaked in the water for a while.

"Clear water is shallow, deep water is green, and black water is deep." Zhou Chenyu looked at the clear pool of water in front of him, which was only a few meters deep and had a low risk of danger.

She took a deep breath and dived into the water like a nimble little fish.

The mountain stream here is clean, and the water is crystal clear. The smooth pebbles resemble fish scales, reflecting various colors when illuminated by the light.

Zhou Chenyu's vision was less clear underwater than on the shore, but it was still sufficient for finding things. When she spotted Yang Xi, he was on the shore, so she swam around the area where he had fallen into the water.

Huang Dou stopped on the shore, his eyes fixed on Zhou Chenyu. When he could no longer see her, he anxiously paced around in circles.

Although ripples appeared on the calm water, the agile figures swimming underwater could be seen.

Yang Xi clutched his shoulder wound, which had reopened, and stared intently at the spot where Zhou Chenyu had slipped away, not daring to miss her for even a moment.

Zhou Chenyu had only been submerged for a short time when the pressure of the surrounding water made her eyes hurt, forcing her to surface again, where she met Yang Xi's tense expression.

She wiped away the water droplets and smiled confidently:

"Yang Xi, I, Zhou Chenyu, never take risks. I won't go down unless I'm 90% sure, so don't worry!"

Yang Xi opened his thin lips, but seeing her confident expression, he knew that speaking would be futile, so he suppressed his worry and said, "Then be careful, I'll wait for you on the shore."

“Okay.” Zhou Chenyu nodded with a smile. After getting used to it, his face darkened, and he jumped into the bottom of the pool and swam towards the center of the pool.

Yang Xi looked at the center of the water, where Zhou Chenyu's shadow gradually disappeared beneath the surface.

He stood on the shore, frowning, alert to everything around him.

A few dark clouds flew overhead, dimming the sunlight on the pool. The stream rushing downstream continued its flow, and a few raindrops began to fall softly from the calm center of the water, rippling outwards in circles. The rain seemed to be gradually intensifying.

Yang Xi looked at the dark clouds above his head. If the rain intensified and caused flash floods, the consequences would be unimaginable.

He gritted his teeth and leaned on his wooden stick to move forward, shouting, "Zhou Chenyu, it's going to rain, hurry up and get ashore!"

A few fallen leaves drifted across the water's surface, where rain and sunshine alternated, but no one was in sight.

In his desperation, Yang Xi's wound tore open even more, and with a few muffled groans of pain, he shouted into the water, "Zhou Chenyu!"

At this moment, there was still no response from the pool, only the sound of flowing water.

Did something happen to her?

Yang Xi clutched his shoulder injury and was about to step into the water when he suddenly heard the sound of splashing water beside him.

He looked up and saw a beautiful woman with flowing black hair and an ethereal beauty emerging from the water.

Zhou Chenyu steadied herself, a triumphant smile on her face, waving her spoils. "Yang Xi, is this what you're looking for?"

Yang Xi composed himself, walked anxiously to the shore, and reached out his hand to her, "It's about to rain, I'll pull you up!"

“Okay.” Zhou Chenyu paddled through the water, grabbed his hand, and climbed ashore. Then she handed him the sharp blade she had found in the water. “This is yours, right? Here you go. Check it for any damage!”

Yang Xi took the blade, and looking at his recovered possession, a rare smile appeared on his pale face.

Water droplets dripped from Zhou Chenyu's clothes. Yang Xi's eyes darkened, he took a step back, gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, and solemnly bowed deeply, saying:

“Zhou Chenyu, you not only saved my life, but also found the treasured sword for me. I will remember these two kindnesses and never forget them in this lifetime.”

Zhou Chenyu has been here for so long just to survive, and hasn't really learned any proper etiquette.

Besides, she might save others without expecting anything in return, her main motivation being pure kindness, but it's different with Yang Xi; she still has something to ask for.

But how could she ask for something in return after all the effort she had put into creating this image in front of him, without making herself seem like a scheming and despicable person?

Before Zhou Chenyu could speak, a torrential downpour began, catching her off guard. "We'll be soaked by the time we walk back to the cabin. Why don't we find somewhere to take shelter from the rain?"

Yang Xi glanced around and fixed his gaze on the ancient tree in front of him. "Let's go over there to take shelter from the rain."

It was just raining heavily, but there was no thunder. Zhou Chenyu helped him walk over and sit down on a rock under a tree to take shelter from the rain.

This is indeed a good place to take shelter from the rain. The dense leaves overhead are piled up layer upon layer, blocking out both sunlight and rain.

Zhou Chenyu sat absentmindedly on the rock, pondering her little scheme about her belly, when a man's voice sounded beside her.

"Your clothes are still wet, be careful not to catch a cold." Yang Xi handed over the clothes.

Zhou Chenyu's white undergarment, soaked in the stream, was so thin it was like a sheet of paper, almost blending into her skin.

She noticed that although he was facing her, his gaze was fixed on the ground, and he dared not look directly at her.

Zhou Chenyu raised the corners of her mouth and looked at him shyly, "Yang Xi, my clothes underneath are all soaked, and it's not appropriate to wear them like this. I want to go behind the tree to take off these wet clothes and change into dry ones. Could you please keep an eye on our surroundings so that no one can see us? I'm a young lady, and if someone sees my body, I'll never be able to get married."

Yang Xi lifted his eyelids, his gaze falling on Zhou Chenyu's face, before awkwardly looking away. "It's just the two of us here. Don't worry, Yang Xi would never do such a vulgar and despicable thing."

Zhou Chenyu was certain he wouldn't, "Words are no proof, then close your eyes and I'll be at ease."

Yang Xi glanced at her, then calmly closed his eyes without the slightest hesitation.

"He's really obedient..." Zhou Chenyu suppressed a laugh, took the clothes with satisfaction and walked behind the tree. She stayed there and stared at him for a while. Seeing that he was sitting there without moving, she took off her soaked inner garment and put on her still dry outer garment.

After taking off his clothes, the man leaned against the tree, his posture unchanged from when he left.

Is he really such a virtuous and upright person, able to remain unmoved even with a woman in his lap?

Zhou Chenyu pulled her collar down a little, touched a strand of damp hair on her chest, and walked out. Like a bewitching little enchantress, she knelt before him, her cheek only centimeters away from his, and smiled faintly:

"Yang Xi, I've changed my clothes. You can open your eyes now."
