Chapter 81 Venting One's Anger

Zhou Chenyu stopped soaking the white fungus, turned his head, and stared coldly at the ugly faces of the two men who were talking, utterly speechless.

It's easy to take off your clothes and climb into a man's bed to make money, but if you're unlucky enough to run into a man with a sexually transmitted disease, you might get genital warts at best, with your whole body covered in cauliflower, or even contract AIDS at worst, where a small cold can be fatal.

"I may love money, but I love my life even more!" Zhou Chenyu slammed down the basin of water used to soak the white fungus, walked up to the two men without any expression, and said unhappily, "Have you said enough?"

The two men saw Zhou Chenyu's expressionless face and found it somewhat frightening. They also realized they had lied and were in the wrong, so they didn't want to make a big deal out of it and quickly shut their mouths, and the room instantly became quiet.

If these kinds of rumors aren't stopped in time, it will be too late to explain everything once everyone starts believing them.

Zhou Chenyu had no intention of letting the matter rest just because the two men had shut up. Instead, she crossed her arms and, with a smug, amused attitude, asked them with a cold smile, "Which of you saw me as so-and-so's lover? And which of you saw me take off my clothes, spread my legs, and climb into a man's bed?"

The man with the mole who first spread the rumors didn't dare look Zhou Chenyu in the eye. He immediately took a step back, jabbed the aggrieved man next to him with his elbow, and said, "I told you not to judge a book by its cover and to stop talking nonsense. Look, you've offended the girl. Hurry up and apologize to her!"

"Me?!" The aggrieved man was unjustly accused by the man with the mole, and his contempt and disgust for Zhou Chenyu intensified. He replied nonchalantly, "We misjudged you. We apologize, okay?"

What kind of attitude is this?

Where is there even a hint of a genuine apology?

Zhou Chenyu originally only wanted to catch the man with the mole and teach him a lesson, but now, seeing the arrogant attitude of the frustrated man, she decided that she would rather kill a hundred innocent people than let one guilty person go free!

Zhou Chenyu circled around the two of them, looking at them with disdain, and sneered, "You people, when you see a woman, you immediately assume she's involved with other men. Is it because your mother, wife, and daughter are all entangled with scoundrels outside that you think that way?"

"Since the women in your family are so promiscuous, shouldn't you ask your father if you are his biological children? What if you are bastards born from your mother and some other man? Then your father will not only lose the women, but he will also have to raise someone else's son!"

The cunning man with the mole realized that Zhou Chenyu was not someone to be trifled with, so he pursed his lips in resignation, letting the harsh words go in one ear and out the other.

The aggrieved man, upon hearing this, turned green with anger. "You're talking nonsense! You've never even seen my mother, how can you fabricate such rubbish out of thin air?! This is utter utter nonsense!"

Zhou Chenyu's smile turned cold, and she stared at him angrily: "Then I have to ask you, this is the first time we've met, how did you conclude that I'm Steward Feng's lover? Do you dare come with me to his place and confront him face to face?"

She pressed him relentlessly, and the frustrated man couldn't utter a single word in rebuttal. If this woman truly had an unusual relationship with Steward Feng, and he angered her, Steward Feng would certainly not let him off the hook.

Even if they had no connection, if he fabricated rumors and those words reached Steward Feng's ears, he would still come to a bad end.

Everyone knows that although Steward Feng appears approachable on the surface, his methods of dealing with people are ruthless and uncompromising.

Upon hearing this, the aggrieved man broke out in a cold sweat.

The man with the mole looked at the speechless expression on the face of the person next to him. They were both in the same boat; if something happened to him, he would probably suffer the same fate.

The man with the mole smiled obsequiously at Zhou Chenyu, "Miss, my brother here has a loose tongue and easily offends people. Please forgive him, he's a magnanimous man."

forgive?

Zhou Chenyu stared at the cunning instigator. He had clearly spoken first, but now he was pushing the scapegoat out while he himself had vanished without a trace.

This frustrated man has made friends like this; he might be betrayed one day without even knowing it.

What an idiot!

Zhou Chenyu smiled slightly and stopped in time. "Since this elder brother has spoken up for him, I'll leave it at that, considering your kind face. It's getting late, let's hurry up and finish making the sweet soup and wait for the stewards to come and inspect it."

Zhou Chenyu returned to her seat in a cheerful mood and continued to prepare her sweet soup.

Seeing her walk away, the man with the mole's amiable expression suddenly changed. He leaned closer to the aggrieved man and said with a sinister look, "She was just using reverse psychology to provoke you. Getting angry means you've fallen into her trap. When she leaves later, you and I will team up and ruin her sweet soup. That way, we can vent our anger and cut off her way of making money."

The aggrieved man glared at the man with the mole, his face dark. "I've already been branded as a fabricator of rumors, and I don't want to add another charge to my list. If you want to end it all, do it yourself, don't drag me into it!"

"Hey hey."

The man with the mole, having been turned away, rolled his eyes at the frustrated man, muttering curses, "Who wants to associate with you? Pshaw."

The man with the mole thought that since Zhou Chenyu hadn't made a fuss, only heaven, earth, and the three of them knew about this matter. However, all of this was seen by Feng Chuli's trusted subordinate, who then told him everything without missing a single word.

"Manager Feng, that's the whole story."

Feng Chuli gave him an approving look and said with a smile, "I originally sent you to the kitchen to keep an eye on those people, to prevent them from secretly making things difficult for Miss Zhou. I didn't know Miss Zhou was so capable. A mere woman dared to shut up two men. It seems I underestimated her."

"Steward Feng, should we deal with those two men?"

Feng Chuli was silent for a moment, then shook his head. "No need. I know Miss Zhou's skills; they are indeed superior to those two." He smiled again. "Aren't they dissatisfied? Then let's use Miss Zhou's homemade sweet soup to shut their loose tongues."

After giving his instructions, Feng Chuli sat down at the desk and picked up a few newly presented account books. However, before he could even warm his seat, he heard a familiar male voice approaching: "Brother Feng, you spend all day in the accounting room. I think you don't need to go back to your room to sleep. It would be more appropriate to move your bed here."

Yang Xi strode into the room, slammed his long blade on the table, picked up a teacup, and began to drink.

Seeing that he was so busy that he didn't even have time to drink water, Feng Chuli smiled and tried to prove his innocence: "Brother Yang, you're so busy with official business all day long, you're practically living in the government office, even more so than me. Why do you only talk about me and not about yourself?"

Yang Xi held his teacup, speechless with dissent.

The two looked at each other and smiled, "We're both in the same boat."
