"We can't carry this many people in our car anyway, so how about I use this car to tow another car?"
Upon hearing this, Song Heng, who had been in a daze, immediately perked up.
"Yuanyuan and I will ride in the car behind!"
Lu Yuan felt a surge of disdain. Yuan Yuan, indeed! When she first came here, she kept calling her "Matchstick Girl"!
"Okay! Then you can go with Deng Yuanyuan to the car in the back!"
So Lu Yuan found a sturdy rope and used it to tow an SUV behind them. Song Heng, beaming with joy, led Deng Yuanyuan, his eyes practically sparkling with happiness.
Under Professor Zhu's guidance, the two cars finally arrived at Qingshui University in Qingshui City.
At this moment, the university seemed like a haunted building. There was no sound inside, and occasionally a few rats would dart around, but they would immediately disappear when they heard someone nearby.
The huge rock in front of the university was covered with graffiti and spray paint by the refugees. The electric gate had been dismantled into a pile of scrap metal, and all kinds of iron parts had been taken away.
Upon seeing this scene, Lu Yuan immediately worried that the instruments inside might also have been stolen. If the instruments were truly gone, would it affect Professor Zhu's subsequent work?
So the car stopped directly in front of a school building. After getting out of the car, I saw a pile of excrement and two dead bodies in front of the building.
Everyone covered their noses and went inside, but to ensure the safety of the car, Lu Yuan specifically asked Song Heng and Deng Yuanyuan to stay in the car to guard it.
Just to be on the safe side, Lu Yuan brought his crossbow and a pistol with him on his waist. Better safe than sorry. Although there were no more refugees now, there were still some extremely dangerous starving people who might rush out from other places at any time.
All the windows of the teaching building were smashed, and several classrooms had obviously been the site of a serious fire. Fortunately, the building was designed with a lot of fireproof materials in mind, so the whole building was not burned down.
When we arrived on the third floor, the floor was covered with a thick layer of dust. Stepping on it felt like walking on a soft carpet, which was very comfortable.
However, every room on the third floor had obviously been damaged. The doors and windows were broken, the blackboards on the walls had been smashed with large holes, and the projectors in each classroom had disappeared, leaving only an iron frame. After looking at several classrooms, Lu Yuan understood why this school, which had nothing, had been vandalized: because they had their eyes on the air conditioners in the school.
The air conditioners in every classroom had been removed. This was clearly not an isolated case. Lu Yuan peeked out the window and saw that the air conditioner outdoor units that should have been hanging on the exterior wall were now gone.
They followed Professor Zhu until they reached the end of the corridor, where a large iron gate blocked their way.
The iron gate was covered with marks of hacking and chiseling, and the large lock on the gate had been deliberately damaged. However, it was clear that these people did not have the ability to open the iron gate. The keyhole had been stuffed with various kinds of wires and wooden sticks, and even some glue.
Professor Zhu frowned as he looked at the gate.
"Damn it! We can't open this door now!"
However, after looking at the door, Lu Yuan asked a question.
"Is the lock on this front door bulletproof?"
Professor Zhu was stunned for a moment, not understanding what Lu Yuan meant. However, when he saw the pistol in Lu Yuan's hand, he immediately understood.
"Xiao Shan, take Professor Zhu away from here. Let me see if I can open the lock."
So Wei Xiaoshan led Professor Zhu and his wife to hide to the side, while Lu Yuan held a gun and aimed it at the keyhole.
With a "bang," the bullet struck the iron lock, its echo amplified throughout the empty corridor, causing Lu Yuan to experience a ringing in his ears.
As the smoke cleared, Lu Yuan glanced at the keyhole and saw that there was only a deep mark on the original keyhole, but the keyhole had not been opened.
"Damn! What a waste of bullets!"
Wei Xiaoshan asked from afar.
"How is it? Did the door open?"
Lu Yuan shook his head and pushed the door, finding it wasn't very sturdy; if he were to crash into it...
Thinking of this, Lu Yuan took a few steps back. Professor Zhu looked at Lu Yuan and shook his head, whispering, "This door can't be forced open at all. It was bought to protect the experimental equipment inside. It's said that even a car might not be able to break through it..."
Just then, a loud noise was heard. Lu Yuan had run thirty meters and his shoulder slammed directly into the gate.
With a loud "boom", dust immediately billowed up around the gate, and cement and sand fell from the walls.
A figure gradually became clear amidst the pitch-black smoke and dust.
Lu Yuan grimaced and clutched his shoulder, saying, "Ouch! But at least the door was broken open! Professor Zhu, let's go in!"
All three stared in astonishment as the smoke cleared, revealing a large, warped door wide open.
"How...how did you do that?"
Lu Yuan pointed to his shoulder and laughed, "It just popped open like that!"
So the group filed in and found the room filled with all sorts of experimental equipment neatly arranged. The room was large, with cabinets on all four walls, each labeled with a different name.
"This is our school's equipment room, which is specifically used to store some expensive instruments. Luckily, it wasn't stolen!"
Professor Zhu walked in with his wife, and the old lady was obviously very familiar with the equipment inside. She took out a key from her pocket, opened a cabinet, and took out a box from inside.
