Chapter 1253 The Captain's Warning

The captain and the entire crew gathered on the deck, eating one by one.

The crew members on duty looked on with envy and kept urging them to eat faster as they walked back and forth in the room.

Fortunately, today's harvest was quite good. They caught nearly 20 tons of fish and stored them in the reservoir, which is more than enough for their needs during the rest of their voyage.

As Lu Yuan ate, he looked up at the distant sea.

The azure sea shimmered under the sunlight, seemingly transporting us back to the scene before the apocalypse.

"Can't wait to go back?"

The captain, a cigarette dangling from his lips, stood before Lu Yuan, gazing silently at the distant sea.

"Yes! I look forward to it every day."

"You seem to have something on your mind. Are you perhaps from prison?"

After hearing the captain's words, Lu Yuan simply smiled slightly, neither confirming nor denying, giving people a mysterious feeling.

The captain smiled slightly and said nothing more. The two men stood quietly to the side, smoking.

Then, as the captain was leaving, he said, "Shanghai is actually a pretty good place, but it's a little difficult to make it big there. There are frequent battles there, so I advise you to stay away from the military there."

Later on, I'll spend money to buy a big house and a piece of land, and live a good life. That's better than anything else. I won't have to deal with the Earthlings. Although life will be tough, it'll still be pretty good.

After saying that, the other person turned and left, leaving Lu Yuan standing there in a daze, pondering what the other person had just said.

After the ship continued sailing for about a week, it finally saw the coastline in the distance.

The crew members jumped for joy; for them, each time they came ashore, it felt like a rebirth.

Although floating on the sea was comfortable, the ship rocking back and forth every day while they slept made them feel very uncomfortable.

Although the cabins were quite comfortable, with everyone having comfortable bedding, everyone suffered from severe insomnia, and all they wanted was a quiet place to sleep peacefully for the night—a true luxury.

After looking at the distant coastline, Lu Yuan breathed a sigh of relief. He hadn't encountered too many risks along the way, and he could survive by fishing and catching shrimp every day.

Upon arriving at the bow of the ship, Lu Yuanbai sat listlessly on a chair. The captain adjusted the rudder, handed it over to the computer control, and then led Lu Yuanbai to a chair. He shared two cigarettes with Lu Yuanbai before speaking.

"We'll probably arrive in about two hours. What's the first thing you want to do when we get there?"

Lu Yuan shook his head and said with a smile, "If I really have the chance, I'd like to have a good sleep on land. Don't you all think so too?"

The captain immediately laughed: "Yes, what else is there besides that?"

"I guess I'll just get familiar with the place first. After all, I haven't been to Shanghai since the aliens took over Earth. I don't know the situation there yet. I'll find a place to ask around and get acquainted first. We'll talk about Shanghai later!"

"Hmm, that's better. Did you remember what I said before? Never go to the battlefield, it's useless. The struggle between Earthlings and humans will continue for a long time."

Both sides are now competing in technological strength; there's no need to risk your lives on the battlefield. Providing good services to the rear is actually quite good, even though the pressure is high and you might often go hungry!

"Thank you, thank you for telling me all this. I know what to do now. By the way, will you leave after you arrive in Shanghai?"

"Deliver the goods first, then find a safe place to stay for a few days. Now you know how much the Blue Star people paid to occupy the Magic City. All kinds of warships and artillery units are being transported to this place."

The two sides have fought countless nuclear wars. This place is filled with radioactive energy. Staying here for even a few seconds could cause you health problems. It's best not to stay here. The battlefield is not a place for ordinary people like us!

Lu Yuan nodded as if he understood, but he never expected that the nuclear wars he had heard about in prison would actually happen.

Unexpectedly, the outbreak of nuclear war did not destroy the Earth, but instead shattered the landmass.

They are now heading to a location in the middle of the combat zone.

This place had been tested and found to have not been exposed to nuclear radiation at least a month ago, so when the ship could only reach this place, everyone on board was already wearing radiation protection suits.

Lu Yuan could sense invisible fluctuations permeating the air in the distance, things that seemed to possess a deadly killing power against all life.

Just then, Lu Yuan saw through the window that a huge white fish suddenly appeared in front of him on the water. After swimming belly up for a while, it turned right side up and continued swimming for a while.

Then the whole fish disappeared into the water. When Lu Yuan saw this fish that looked like human skin, he felt goosebumps rise on his skin.

Without Lu Yuan noticing, Anna had been standing in front of him for quite some time, her hands tightly gripping her arms. Lu Yuan turned to look at her; Anna was still not recovered from the shock she had just experienced.

The two of them leaned quietly against the window, watching what was happening outside the deck. It was as if they had suddenly arrived in a place from a peaceful world, a place where the island had been blown to pieces.

Huge craters dotted the ground, while soldiers in ship-themed radiation suits continued to fight on the front lines, wielding various weapons in close combat.

Lu Yuan could only hear the distant whistling of various guns and cannons, as well as the sound of bullets whizzing past the windows and even hitting the ship.

Soon, the captain's voice came over the ship's loudspeaker: "Notify everyone on board not to leave their rooms. Stay in your rooms and do not go outside. The vanguard is passing through a high-radiation area, so protect yourselves and wear radiation protection suits!"

Then Lu Yuan heard a series of crackling sounds, which was the effect of high-intensity radiation energy on the radio system of the broadcasting system. After a while, all signals in the entire cabin disappeared completely.

The world seemed to fall into a deathly silence; the only sound was the rumble of the ship's engines, and then there was no sound at all.

The ship was moving very slowly, and Lu Yuan could sense how nervous the captain was.
