Hearing the knocking at the door, Lu Yuan felt a wave of helplessness wash over him. He couldn't understand why his relationship with Xiao Shan, which he had worked so hard to build and was about to reach its final stage, was suddenly interrupted.
This was a decision he made with a heavy heart. Although Xiao Shan had always been unwilling to cross the line between the two before marriage, she stopped insisting after moving into Lu Yuan's house. Sometimes Lu Yuan would tease her, and Xiao Shan would accept it without hesitation, even claiming that Lu Yuan wouldn't dare.
Lu Yuan simply didn't want Xiao Shan to get pregnant and give birth in such a terrible environment, as it would cause all sorts of trouble. He couldn't allow the child to grow up in such a condition. Although he was still trying his best to find a safe haven, that idea was unrealistic at the moment. He was just waiting.
Finally, he had managed to convince himself, and Xiaoshan was ready. The two were about to take the final step when a knock on the door startled them.
Lu Yuan felt his little brother, which had been standing tall and proud, suddenly shrink back in fear. He immediately got dressed in anger, while Xiao Shan also quickly put on her clothes and tidied herself up haphazardly.
Arriving angrily at the door, Lu Yuan opened it without a second thought and shouted at the outside.
"What exactly do you want? I've said everything I needed to say, and you still..."
Before she could finish speaking, she opened the door and saw Xiaoshan's father standing there with a suspicious look on his face.
"What's wrong with you? Why are you so angry! Hmm? Xiaoshan?"
Lu Yuan was incredibly embarrassed. He had just been about to sleep with his daughter when he was caught in the act. Although both families had been subtly hinting that the two should consummate their marriage as soon as possible and have a child, this was the first time such a situation had occurred.
Xiao Shan's father looked at Xiao Shan with an embarrassed expression, then gestured to Lu Yuan with his eyes.
Lu Yuan could only sigh and then ask, "Uncle, what's wrong?"
"Ahem! It's nothing else. Well, you should get some rest! I'm heading back now!"
After saying that, Xiaoshan's father was even more nervous than Lu Yuan. He then turned and left, completely ignoring Xiaoshan behind Lu Yuan and walking straight away.
Wei Xiaoshan looked at her father in disbelief, feeling somewhat incredulous. This wasn't her father like this before. In the past, let alone entering a man's room, if any man even glanced at her twice, he would immediately go up to teach him a lesson.
Lu Yuan closed the door and then wanted to hug Xiao Shan to continue their work, but Xiao Shan was clearly a little disheartened by the interruption.
"Lu Yuan, we were both a bit impulsive just now. I'm going back to sleep now, you should get some rest too!"
After saying that, Wei Xiaoshan lowered her head, not daring to look at Lu Yuan, and turned to leave the room, leaving Lu Yuan standing there dumbfounded.
"Holy crap! What's going on?! Everyone was hoping things would go well for us! Instead, they're all just causing trouble! Ugh!"
Lu Yuan lay on the bed in anger, but out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that his little tent was still erect.
With no other option, Lu Yuan went to the bathroom and took a shower. He used cold water, hoping to extinguish the fire in his heart.
After taking a shower, Lu Yuan saw Xiao Shan's father winking at him in the living room on the first floor.
Lu Yuan glared at the other person with annoyance. Xiao Shan's father immediately felt that his authority had been challenged. Just as he was about to stand up, he saw that Lu Yuan had already disappeared on the second floor.
Just as he was feeling a bit disheartened, he saw Lu Yuan come out of the room again, holding a pack of cigarettes in his hand.
"Ahem! Where are you going?"
"I'm annoyed, I'm going to smoke!" Lu Yuan said fiercely.
"Hey! You brat, how dare you talk to me like that!"
As he spoke, Xiaoshan's father put down the remote control in his hand and went upstairs, following Lu Yuan to the living room on the second floor.
Lu Yuan was seen smoking a cigarette while sighing.
Xiao Shan's dad sat to the side and watched for a while, then immediately understood.
"Ahem! Men will be men! The first time is always short! It's understandable!"
Lu Yuan stared wide-eyed at Xiao Shan's father. What was this disrespectful old man saying?! He wasn't short at all! He was just interrupted before he even started! The culprit was him!
"Uncle! What are you saying?! I don't understand!"
Xiao Shan's dad looked at Lu Yuan with a knowing, manly expression.
"Stop pretending! Fine, as long as you're good to my daughter, I don't care about anything else! But I'm still your father-in-law, can you at least be a little more polite to me? What have I done to offend you?"
Lu Yuan didn't want to continue this topic. He had just taken a cold shower, and the fire in his body had finally subsided. If it were to be reignited, it would be troublesome.
"Ahem! Uncle, you're overthinking it. I was just having a private chat with Xiaoshan. What are you thinking? Besides, we're not married yet! It's not appropriate for us to live together so early. Don't worry!"
Xiao Shan's father slammed his hand on the table, about to erupt in anger, but then realized it was evening and the family was resting. He immediately whispered sternly, "What do you mean by that? Don't you want to take responsibility? If you really intend to do that, I won't let you off the hook! I hate scumbags the most!"
Lu Yuan's face darkened.
"Uncle! When did I say I didn't want Xiaoshan anymore? How come your imagination runs wild! Xiaoshan and I are just missing a proper wedding. We won't do anything outrageous, don't worry!"
