Upon hearing Chen Yan's voice, Lu Yuan frowned immediately and quickly glanced at the screen.
"Report the data: Where is the lake monster?"
"The monster is about 30 meters below us in the water, and its speed is basically in balance with ours."
This answer sent a chill down the spines of everyone on the ship.
Lu Yuan frowned and glanced towards the water.
It was still night, and it was impossible to see what was underwater, let alone 30 meters away.
The calm lake water was rippled by their three boats, and Lu Yuan couldn't see what was behind them at all.
Just as he hesitated, Chen Yan's voice came again.
"Oh no! The water monster has sped up! Should we speed up too?"
Lu Yuan nodded quickly. "Speed up! Increase the speed to 120. Let's see if the water monster can still catch up with us!"
As soon as Lu Yuan finished speaking, Zhou Tong, who was controlling the ship, quickly passed on the knowledge to him.
With a roar from the engine, the boat, which had been swaying slightly, picked up speed once more.
Eighty kilometers per hour, that's a huge improvement now.
As the boat sped up, the monster behind them was instantly shaken off, but Lu Yuan kept his eyes glued to the sonar detector screen.
"The lake monster seems to be speeding up too; it looks like it's still chasing us."
"Yes, what should we do? Should we speed things up?"
Chen Yan glanced back with some concern.
Lu Yuan kept his eyes fixed on the sonar survey instrument.
"Don't speed up yet, wait and see. Going too fast at night is quite dangerous for us."
Zhou Tong had no choice but to nod. Everyone's minds became very heavy, and their eyes were fixed on the back of the ship.
After sailing for about half an hour, the water monster was still slowly hanging behind them.
Although their attack speed had increased to 180 yards, to Lu Yuan's surprise, the water monster seemed determined to challenge them.
It also maintained a speed of 180 km/h, hanging about 30 to 40 meters away from the ship.
"What should we do? If this continues, will he launch an attack on us?"
Lu Yuan frowned and looked at the red dot on the sonar detector.
"That's strange. If it wanted to make a move, we would be gone by now. Why is it staring right behind us without moving?"
Everyone shook their heads, wondering what had happened.
Lu Yuan pondered for a moment, then maintained the ship's speed, sailing at that speed until dawn.
Once it gets light, their risk level will be much lower.
After Lu Yuan gave instructions to the other two ships, everyone on all three ships went into battle mode.
Lu Yuan knew that this crisis seemed to be more troublesome than the ones they had encountered on land before.
If they encounter danger on land, they still have places to hide; they can be placed in caves or in cracks in the ground.
But on this vast, sea-like lake, they had nowhere to hide.
Their only hope was this boat; if it capsized, everyone on board would be in danger.
Lu Yuan dared not increase the ship's speed, because he could not shake off the giant beast behind him.
He could only pin his hopes on this giant beast; he was merely following them out of curiosity.
As dawn broke, Lu Yuan stared intently at the screen, his eyes stinging from watching it all night.
He rubbed his eyes and glanced at the sonar detector again; the red dot was still so close to their ship.
"Has it gone mad?"
Lu Yuan glanced at the back of the boat; it was dawn, and the sun's rays were shining on the lake.
The lights were dazzling and beautiful, but a huge dark shadow was hanging underwater behind the boat, slowly swimming towards them.
"What is he planning to do by following us like this?"
As Lu Yuan lit a cigarette, he pointed at the giant beast in the distance and asked Xiao Shan beside him a question.
Xiao Shan shook her head helplessly. "I don't know, but this giant beast seems quite interested in our ship. Perhaps it has a scent that it likes on board."
This speculation had actually been raised before, but no one had ever been willing to believe it.
Lu Yuan sighed, then found some food in the cabin and distributed it to everyone.
While everyone ate, they observed the situation on the sea. As for the giant beast behind them, it seemed that no one paid any attention to it anymore.
After all, it was unwilling to attack the ship, so it just hung at a distance behind it.
Another day has passed.
As night fell and dusk descended, Lu Yuan remained vigilant, wondering what the giant beast behind him was waiting for.
These behemoths are about 200 meters long, which is enough to make them super behemoths, even larger than the Azure Dragon.
Lu Yuan sat at the stern of the boat, staring intently at the distant water, vaguely sensing that the giant beast seemed to be trying to convey some message to them.
Suddenly, a strange thought flashed through Lu Yuan's mind.
"Impossible, impossible. It was said to have disappeared long ago, how could it possibly reappear? I must be mistaken."
