Chapter 1509 Sneak Attack

Lu Yuan was living a very comfortable life, but he was unaware that a huge disaster was quietly approaching their city. Zhou Tong, in the Industrial Zone 1, was still working through the night.

After finishing all the day's tasks, Zhou Tong dragged his tired body, took a sip of coffee, and prepared to go back to rest.

At that moment, he suddenly noticed that an icon on the computer next to him flashed twice.

Zhou Tong was slightly taken aback, then put down his cup and returned to his desk. After opening the flashing icon, he discovered that it was actually an alarm icon, indicating that an unidentified flying object had intruded into their airspace.

"What the hell is going on? An unidentified flying object has entered our airspace, and we haven't shot it down yet!"

After saying that, Zhou Tong immediately picked up the phone and dialed the number of the defense department.

Upon hearing Zhou Tong's question, the head of the epidemic prevention and control department quickly explained.

"Zhou Tong, let me explain. This is a living creature. Birds of prey often trigger false messages on many computers during the recharge process here. Don't worry about it."

They're not ground troops. A few birds flying around in the sky occasionally aren't restricted by terrain, so don't worry about it!

Zhou Tong was slightly taken aback after hearing his words, then breathed a sigh of relief, as if what the other party said was indeed true.

Before they had these alarms, they hadn't paid attention to the sky. Now they realize that they've entered the era of mutated creatures, and all animals are no longer like they used to be. It's not surprising that a raptor bigger than a passenger plane can appear in the sky now.

He breathed a sigh of relief, hung up the phone, and walked back to his residence.

His wife and children were already asleep. He glanced at the time—three in the morning—and couldn't help but sigh. He usually came home around this time every day; being the city lord was truly exhausting.

So he quickly washed up, tiptoed to bed, and slipped under the covers. He then discovered that his wife was still awake. The two of them cuddled together carefully for a while before drifting off to sleep.

Around 4:30 a.m., this is a time when most people are resting and not many people are active at this time.

Meanwhile, several icons on Zhou Tong's office computer screen were still flashing, displaying the same airborne early warning message as before.

This time, however, the dots on the screen were no longer just one, but a dense cluster of dots.

The soldiers on duty didn't even bother to click on the icon and continued their ground defense work.

Then more birds of prey flew over, darkening the sky and completely obscuring the moon. These enormous birds of prey flew down from tens of thousands of meters in the air without making a sound.

Then, after reaching the ground, they plunged downwards, using this immense momentum to unleash even greater power from their bodies.

Swoosh swoosh swoosh.

You could almost hear the wind whistling through the air as it blew over the vultures' bodies, which showed just how fast they were flying.

Just then, a few soldiers on night duty yawned, glanced at the time, and prepared to go to the next location for their shift.

Just then, a soldier suddenly heard a wet sound coming from above. He couldn't help but look up at the sky, but he couldn't see anything in the pitch-black sky. He was a little frustrated, and then gently nudged his comrade.

"Hey bro, did you hear that sound up there? I think it sounded like something was falling from the sky, like a missile, whooshing and whooshing, it's so scary!"

The other person yawned and turned to look at him.

"Sure, there's no sound at all. It's just the sound of the wind. Don't be so surprised. It's not like you're living here for the first time. Just give me some pointers on the night shift and you'll get used to it."

Come on, come on, don't think so much. It's your first day on duty, and I didn't expect you to be so energetic. I'm really envious. When I first started, I was just like you, like that too..."

Before he could finish speaking, a huge explosion suddenly came from afar.

Then, a huge raptor charged straight at the tank of heavy oil. The metal collided, and the sparks from the collision instantly ignited the oil inside.

Then, with a deafening roar, the towering flames focused and instantly illuminated the entire night sky. The massive shockwave destroyed several nearby buildings.

Several nearby oil tanks exploded in a chain reaction following his detonation, instantly waking everyone up.

At that moment, the camp alarms blared, searchlights were turned on, and the surroundings were brightly lit. The city was engulfed in flames, and many people were burned by the heavy oil drippings, screaming in agony.

The people around were all desperately fleeing, and then someone suddenly looked up from the sky and saw even more huge birds of prey with outstretched wings swooping down toward the camp.

"Oh no! A raptor is attacking from the sky!"

A soldier immediately picked up his gun and pulled the trigger in the direction of the sky.

Immediately, everyone else became alert, grabbed the wallpaper from behind their backs, and pulled the trigger towards the sky.

Only then did everyone notice that birds of prey were attacking from the sky, and they all shone their searchlights toward the sky.

A dense swarm of enormous vultures spread their wings and swooped down toward the camp, like fighter jets heading to their doom, a sight that sent a chill down one's spine.
