"Holy crap! Damn it! A crossbow bolt!" Lu Yuan exclaimed, clutching his arm. He saw a crossbow bolt, more than 30 centimeters long, pierce his shoulder. Lu Yuan felt a sharp pain in his shoulder, as if the pain was tearing at his nerves. But he didn't have time to think about it now. The other party had tricked him like this, so they certainly wouldn't let him off easily.
So Lu Yuan quickly dodged and ran away into the distance, but because there was water everywhere, Lu Yuan's steps were blocked by the water, and his movements were impaired. Moreover, there was the pain caused by the crossbow bolt in his shoulder. Lu Yuan felt waves of dizziness rushing into his head.
"Damn it, could this arrow be poisoned?" Lu Yuan thought to himself with a sinking feeling, but he kept walking forward.
Sure enough, a series of shouts and cries for battle came from behind him, their target being him. Lu Yuan immediately recognized one of the voices; it was the same person who had just called him.
Lu Yuan risked looking back and saw dozens of people wielding various machetes and similar weapons charging towards him, clearly intending to make him a one-way trip.
A man with a full beard shouted in a hoarse voice towards Lu Yuan, "Catch him! Better catch him alive, don't kill him! Sister Xia wants to play with his life a little longer!"
A group of people immediately rushed towards him, shouting and yelling. Lu Yuan cursed inwardly, but the dizziness in his mind continued to intensify. In order to calm himself down, Lu Yuan could only bite his tongue.
Fortunately, although the area around the survivor base was desolate, there was a dead forest in the middle. Without thinking, Lu Yuan went straight into the dead forest.
The people behind him were getting closer and closer, but fortunately, Lu Yuan exercised regularly and his physical condition was much better than those of the malnourished people. After running forward for a while, the people behind him were immediately pulled far ahead.
Lu Yuan paused for a moment, then arched his back, supporting himself on his knees and panting heavily. He felt as if his lungs were on fire, but he didn't have much time to escape. He could only try to get away from these people as quickly as possible.
But there were just too many people behind him, and one person even found a bicycle from somewhere and started chasing after him.
"Damn it! Who the hell is this Sister Xia?! She's a total rip-off!"
Lu Yuan stopped and stood up, running towards the depths of the forest again. However, he was getting further and further away from the survivor base. He had originally planned to ask for help outside the survivor base, but when he thought about how so many protesters had gone there without getting anything out of it, he figured they would definitely not care if he went there, and might even arrest him as a spy.
Looking around the forest, although the year-long heat wave had taken the lives of most of the trees, some particularly drought-resistant trees had survived. Deep in the forest, Lu Yuan could even see a touch of green.
Gritting his teeth, Lu Yuan ran inside again. Suddenly, Lu Yuan felt his wounds getting more and more painful, and he even felt like he couldn't hold on any longer. Then, Lu Yuan staggered, the world in front of him spun around, and then everything went black before he collapsed to the ground.
But just as Lu Yuan fell to the ground, he knew he couldn't fall asleep. If he did, he would be doomed if he fell into the hands of these people. He had to escape because in the instant before he fainted, many people appeared in his mind: Xiao Shan, his parents and grandparents, and Xiao Shan's parents were all there.
Thinking of this, Lu Yuan bit his tongue hard, and a trickle of blood immediately seeped out. After regaining some of his senses, Lu Yuan stood up with difficulty. Seeing that the people chasing behind him were about to catch up with him, he immediately remembered that he still had a dimensional crystal.
So Lu Yuan leaned against the tree trunk, using it as cover, and took out the dimensional crystal from his pocket.
"Damn it! I'll make you pay next time! Just you wait!"
With that thought in mind, Lu Yuan used the last bit of clarity in his mind to open the dimensional space, and then walked in, holding onto the door of the space.
Among the group chasing Lu Yuan, the bearded man panted and cursed, "Liu Laoliu! Is this medicine even working?! Didn't you say it could knock out an elephant in a minute?! How come this kid has been running for over ten minutes with us?! Is this some kind of fake drug?!"
A short man next to him said with a frustrated look, "No, Brother Dayong, this medicine is definitely not fake. I swear to God, this stuff was originally used in hospitals for anesthetics in large animal experiments, and it works perfectly! But it's been so long, I think it's probably expired!"
"Damn it! Chase after him! Stop talking nonsense! Sister Xia said she wants to see him alive or dead, we can't let this kid get away!"
The bearded man shouted loudly at the group of people who were exhausted, but they all looked miserable and said, "Brother Dayong, we really...we really can't run anymore! Anyway, there are too many of us, he can't get out of here!"
The bearded man slapped the man who had spoken, then said menacingly, "Stop talking nonsense and hurry up and chase after them! Otherwise, you won't have any food to eat later!"
The young man who had just been slapped muttered in dissatisfaction, "I don't know what's wrong with Sister Xia this time! Why is she looking for this man?! I'm a man too! Really! Sigh!"
