During lunch, Ou Yun said she had some things to do and couldn't eat with him. Lu Yuan was about to go downstairs to find the man named Wu Tian. He wanted to get closer to him and see if he could find out some things he wanted to know.
Sure enough, when they arrived at the office downstairs, they saw Wu Tian sitting in a chair playing Minesweeper on his computer. The files on the computer were scattered on the desk, making it very messy. He didn't seem to have any intention of tidying it up.
Wu Tian knocked lightly on the door. Startled, he immediately put down his mouse and was about to shut down the computer when he turned around and saw Lu Yuan. He breathed a sigh of relief, clutching his chest, and said, "You scared me to death! I thought it was another round of room checks. By the way, are you done with your work?"
Lu Yuan pointed to his watch and said, "It's time to eat. Aren't you going to eat? My colleague has some things to do today, so how about we go to the cafeteria together?"
Wu Tian immediately shut down the computer, then stood up, picked up his work badge from the table, and said, "Great idea! Let's go together!"
Just then, a discordant voice came from the next room.
"Wu Tian, have you finished the work I assigned you? Do you still want to work here? If not, get out of here!"
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a fierce-looking man walked out of the room. He was dressed in a suit and tie, his hair was neatly combed, but his expression was extremely menacing.
However, Wu Tian seemed to have no intention of paying attention to the other party's meaning.
"Let me tell you, I have to do this experiment. If you don't hand it over to me, then we're done. I mean what I say. Even if you go to the supervisor, I'll still stand by this attitude. Don't keep giving me all your little tasks. I don't have time for that!" Wu Tian shouted angrily at the other party.
The man's face flushed red, and he slammed his hand on the table, shouting, "Wu Tian, don't think that just because you're Professor Do's prized student you can do whatever you want! Let me tell you, without my financial support, you can forget about doing this experiment!"
Wu Tian pulled Lu Yuan towards the door, saying as they walked, "Hehe, do as you please. Whether you invest or not is up to you. The higher-ups have already given the order to get the roof finished within a month. If you don't want to do it, then forget it. We can just part ways and go eat rat meat together!"
The man immediately glared angrily, then pointed at Wu Tian and said "you, you, you" a few times, but then stopped.
Wu Tian pulled Lu Yuan toward the door. Lu Yuan was immediately curious, so he asked, "What project are you guys working on now? It seems like things aren't going very well in your department!"
Wu Tian casually said, "Well, the hydrological department has detected that the acid content in this rainwater is quite high. We don't know where the chemical substances leaked into the atmosphere, but now it's raining acid rain everywhere in the atmosphere."
Furthermore, acid rain enhances the corrosive ability of the bloodthirsty black beetle, so everyone is busy with this project, but our research funding is not sufficient and we need external support.
That guy, relying on his family's wealth, managed to get into this department and become my direct supervisor. He keeps giving me odd jobs, trying to steal the project for himself. Of course, I can't agree to that. If he wants to do it, let him do it himself. I don't care; at worst, we'll all end up eating rat meat together!
Upon hearing this, Lu Yuan was overwhelmed with emotion. He hadn't expected Wu Tian to so casually reveal some of the lab's secrets to him. Moreover, their research project was exactly the ceiling experiment he needed, and the new materials he possessed were exactly what they lacked. What he lacked was an outstanding lab technician like Wu Tian.
After thinking for a while, Lu Yuan said, "Is this experimental project something that only you can handle by yourself?"
A proud look immediately appeared on Wu Tian's face, and he nodded: "Of course, I originally did this project myself, but we lost a lot of our documents and can't find them now. The manufacturers who promised to supply us back then, I don't know what happened to them, they must have died."
Those materials we had were nowhere to be found. We searched for a long time but couldn't find them, and now the project is stuck here. We were planning to develop something to replace that new material, but the project has been suspended due to a shortage of funds. We've been given a notice from above, requiring us to complete it within a month, or we'll be sent to a lower-level area.
Lu Yuan thought to himself, "It's like finding a needle in a haystack, only to have it fall into my lap without any effort." The material he had was exactly what they had been working on, and now they no longer had the research data from back then. Those raw materials could no longer be replicated and produced, so they had to start researching and developing them anew.
Upon thinking about this, Lu Yuan had only one thought: to take Wu Tian away.
So Lu Yuan changed the subject and casually started talking about something else. After all, he didn't know Wu Tian very well yet, and talking too much would arouse the other party's suspicion. The other party didn't seem to have noticed Lu Yuan's intentions. Fortunately, the other party was very talkative and could talk about anything, and he and Lu Yuan got along quite well.
Once they got their food at the canteen, the two chatted casually, but Lu Yuan was already starting to plan how to take this guy away.
