After everyone escaped from Mine No. 1, their faces were filled with relief and joy at surviving the ordeal.
The captain squatted on the open ground to the side, panting heavily as he looked at the collapsed Mine No. 1 in front of him, his face filled with a gloomy expression.
"How could the No. 1 mine, which was perfectly fine, just collapse like that? Who was in charge of the exploration in the first place?"
The members of the expert group looked at each other for a while, and then one of them, a man with graying hair, took a step forward.
"This is the No. 1 mine that I was in charge of leading the exploration of back then."
The captain glanced at it; there was a hint of helplessness in the other person's expression.
"Why didn't you tell us earlier that this mine was at risk of collapse?"
The other party also felt somewhat innocent.
“When we were exploring, we didn’t find any risks. We put in a lot of effort and used all our equipment to check this place, but there really were none!”
"If that doesn't work, I can show you the data we obtained during the initial exploration."
The captain wanted to say something more, but Lu Yuan stood aside and waved his hand repeatedly to stop him.
"Alright, let's stop talking about this for now. This matter shouldn't be related to the expert team. I think we still need to think of a way to find out what exactly happened in the mine that caused the collapse."
The members of the expert group and the geological team all nodded in agreement.
"That's right. Our top priority right now is not to look for the cause within ourselves, but to find out the cause of the collapse as soon as possible. Otherwise, if we miss this best opportunity, it will be troublesome to find the cause later."
The captain nodded helplessly, and Lu Yuan also arranged for everyone to set up a cordon in the vicinity, prohibiting anyone from entering.
The members of the exploration team were now bearing this undeserved blame, and they were feeling very bad. So, the group went to the vicinity of the mine to take samples and conduct geological tests on the collapsed area.
However, when they conducted an examination of the area, the scanned images shocked them greatly.
"Old Sun, come and take a look."
A young scholar looked surprised and shouted loudly to Old Sun behind him.
While Mr. Sun was testing a piece of ore, he heard the student's voice and hurriedly went over.
"What's wrong? Did you find something?"
"Old Sun, look how high quality the ore here used to be, but now you can see that it has been hollowed out by insects!"
After hearing this, Mr. Sun's eyes showed a hint of shock. He quickly pushed up his glasses and carefully examined the scanned image.
Sure enough, the geological conditions shown in the image resembled ground riddled with termites, with a completely collapsed area underneath.
"Damn it, it looks like some kind of underground creature is gnawing on the minerals underground."
"Yes, Mr. Sun, should we report this to our superiors first?"
Old Sun gently shook his head.
"Don't tell them yet. Let's hurry down there and find out the reason. We'll try to find out the reason for this discussion when we report next time, so that we can clear ourselves of suspicion."
The trainees naturally knew why Elder Sun did this. After all, their exploration team members were carrying such a burden, and Elder Sun, as the main person in charge, must have felt extremely uncomfortable.
So the group immediately convened a meeting to discuss the meeting and the work to come.
Everyone unanimously decided to go down and extract the ore to see what was inside the exposed area.
That evening, everyone packed up all their equipment and waited for the next day.
As dawn broke and the sun's rays emerged from the Earth's shadow, the entire exploration team was already up.
Old Sun glanced around briefly, and seeing that no one was missing, he immediately waved his hand, and the group headed towards the collapsed site.
They arrived at Mine No. 1. The group easily found the exploration area and then retrieved and assembled all the equipment.
With the equipment set up, several young team members, each secured by a rope, began gliding slowly downwards towards the area they were exploring.
With the help of others, the three members successfully landed at the bottom.
“We have reached the lowest point and are now sampling the nearby ore.”
A voice of support came through the walkie-talkie, and Old Sun nodded in satisfaction, speaking into the microphone.
"Be careful, everyone. I think what we're exploring here is related to some kind of strange creature. Stay alert and keep in touch. If we discover any danger, we'll immediately activate the emergency procedures."
"We know, Mr. Sun."
When communication was interrupted, a few people began to pick up the package and collect samples. They didn't need to collect much; most of the ore in the vicinity had either fallen from the ground or was part of the exposed underground.
The vast majority of the ore here is X62 ore.
After collecting some items, the group couldn't find the places where the red lights were flashing. Just as they were feeling very surprised, a tremor suddenly came from under their feet.
"Oh no, there's a contagious tremor below, be careful."
Old Sun immediately realized that something was wrong and hurriedly issued a warning.
Several team members standing above the mine shaft immediately tightened the ropes to prevent them from accidentally falling down while looking down at him.
