Lu Yuan traveled by car this time, since there weren't many ships, and most of them were used to transport goods. Moreover, shipping is faster than land transport. In the past, land transport would definitely have been much better than water transport, after all, China is known as the infrastructure powerhouse, with a dense transportation network covering the entire country, and there are roads to everywhere.
However, after the first wave of floods, these roads were almost completely destroyed. Fortunately, in the first year of the apocalypse, a fast road connecting the east and west of the country was built. The terrain was taken into account when the road was built, so although the entire fast road has been damaged for more than a year, it has not been greatly affected and is now open to traffic.
However, because there were very few people with fuel at this time, there were very few cars on this road, and the few cars that did appear were all vehicles with license plates from the survivor base.
Lu Yuan stood in front of the car, looking at the densely packed crowd. He felt a surge of excitement. After all, this was the first time he had led so many people to seek a living. Moreover, these people treated him as their savior. Everyone here had food and clothing and didn't have to worry about where their next meal would come from. Therefore, everyone respected Lu Yuan.
"There's not much to say today! Please look out for each other along the way. We'll inevitably encounter some minor difficulties, but they're nothing compared to our major challenges! Now, I announce: Everyone, get on the bus! Destination: Jin Province! Let's go!"
After saying that, Yuan Yuan, who was driving, excitedly honked the car horn. Instantly, everyone's hearts were in their throats, and they felt their whole bodies filled with energy.
So everyone got into the vehicles, each equipped with a roof made of new materials. This way, they no longer had to worry about being attacked by the bloodthirsty black beetles. However, these bloodthirsty black beetles could still fly, so before setting off, Lu Yuan put five chickens in each vehicle. With these chickens, everyone wouldn't have to worry about the bloodthirsty black beetles, as long as they didn't get out of the vehicles carelessly.
Lu Yuan got into the first car and honked the horn. Then all the vehicles roared as if they were shouting, and the ground began to tremble with the sound of car horns.
The first convoy set off, the wheels forcefully pushing up the water on the road, splashing mud and water everywhere, with the following vehicles one after another following closely behind.
Next came the second and third convoys. The first convoy mainly carried people, the second convoy carried their living supplies, and the third convoy carried engineering vehicles, such as excavators, cranes, and loaders.
The long convoy stretched out like an endless dragon, a sight extremely rare in this post-apocalyptic world. At least, no one had ever seen any force make such a commotion.
The sky was still overcast, and the rainwater had evaporated, forming a thin mist in the air. To prevent cars from getting lost, all the vehicles had their hazard lights on, making the entire road brightly lit and a sight to behold.
The first group of people sent to Shanxi Province numbered nearly a thousand, with the majority being recently recruited construction workers from ****. They had chosen Lu Yuan in order to survive.
The car was so loud that everyone on the road could hear it clearly, and they all put down their work and turned to look at it.
The convoy, stretching for miles, was quite a sight. People on both sides of the road could clearly hear the sound of wheels rolling over the water. This was very impressive to the refugees and survivor bases along the way. They stopped to watch and began to speculate about which faction's convoy it was.
"Where did these people come from? They have so many cars! Is fuel being used freely now?"
"I wonder where they're headed! So many cars, it's terrifying! Where is this survivor base? I wonder if they're still hiring!"
The thought of asking for shelter couldn't help but pop into everyone's mind. Some people started to get restless, while others even started to think of ways to stop the convoy.
As Lu Yuan watched the growing crowd chasing the convoy, he felt a pang of emotion. However, he had no intention of taking them in. After all, he was there to establish his own new base, not a refugee camp.
A week later, Lu Yuan looked at a tattered warning sign with the words "Welcome to Shanxi Province!" written on it.
"We're here! We're finally here! Everyone, perk up! We're almost at our destination!"
The crowd cheered, and the fatigue from days of travel vanished instantly. Although the journey had been arduous, it was nothing compared to the hunger they had experienced before. They didn't even have to walk; they were just sitting in the cramped carriage with food. It was like heaven!
After driving for several more hours, Yuan Yuan sighed wearily and said, "Brother Lu! We've arrived!"
Looking at a deep valley in the distance, Lu Yuan suddenly became excited.
"Brothers, we've really made it this time! Everyone, follow me into the mountains!"
The horns blared again from the convoy! All the cars together created a tremendous commotion.
Lu Yuan then got out of the car and began to count the vehicles. None were missing, and none had fallen behind. Although a few people had been infected and died on the way to Shanxi Province, most of the people were still unharmed.
