Chapter 206 Searching for the Plane

With a look of grief on her face, Chen Ke tightly grasped Lu Yuan's hand and said, "Brother Lu, it's dangerous up there. We don't know what the situation will be like. You mustn't do anything rash!"

Lu Yuan forcefully shook off his arm and said with a serious expression, "No, I have to go see my wife and my family over there. I can't leave them there. I need to know how they are. You quickly take people to assess the casualties here and treat those who need treatment. We still have some seeds. Find a way to clear away this volcanic ash. I don't need to teach you these things, do I?"

"But... what are you doing?" Chen Ke's face showed a trace of grief. He was worried that Lu Yuan was going to abandon them, so he quickly grabbed Lu Yuan.

"You can't leave now! The people at the base still need you. You can't leave them here!" Chen Ke's voice was somewhat hysterical. He was afraid that Lu Yuan would just leave them here.

If this happens, then once their leader is lost, these people will fall apart, and their mortality rate will definitely continue to soar.

They don't know what disasters might follow. Although they now have their own laboratory, farmland, new vitality, and breeding farm, an earthquake has destroyed all of these things, and Lu Yuan is now worried about his family.

If he really just leaves like this, the future of these people will be unpredictable.

Lu Yuan swallowed hard, then patted Chen Ke on the shoulder and said, "I can't abandon my family. I'm leaving things here to you. You've been with me for so long, you should have some experience by now, so this time it's up to you. I have to go back. If my family is alright, I'll bring them all back! And our people are still there, I hope you can understand!"

After trying to calm himself down, Chen Bin thought for a long time before finally letting go. Lu Yuan nodded slightly and then quickly ran away into the distance.

Lu Yuan was wearing a light cotton outfit and fleece-lined leather shoes. Although leather shoes weren't very convenient for climbing mountains, Lu Yuan didn't care about that now.

He is extremely worried about his family. If something bad were to happen to them, he doesn't know how he would cope. Although he has seen more people around him than the loss of family members, he doesn't know what he would do if something like this happened to his own family.

With that in mind, Lu Yuan used both his hands and feet to climb up a boulder that was more than ten meters high. The boulder was stuck in a crevice, which was relatively secure. After Lu Yuan climbed up gently, he was like an agile monkey, grabbing onto some small gaps and little by little until he finally stood on the boulder.

There's no turning back now that the arrow has been released. Lu Yuan has already settled everything for himself, and now all he wants is to go back and take one last look. So, his longing transforms into boundless strength, and Lu Yuan seems to be filled with power as he overcomes one disaster after another. Along the way, Lu Yuan sees the coal mine that has been buried by rubble, which is located on the mountainside.

Climbing further up, they reached an altitude of 1,500 meters. Here, the dust and smoke were particularly thick, and the visibility was less than ten meters. Lu Yuan ran forward cautiously, and occasionally he had to slow down when he encountered some craggy rocks.

Lu Yuan tore off his pocket and then tore off a strip of cloth from his clothes to make a makeshift mask, which he put over his mouth and nose. After inhaling too much of the bright air containing high concentrations of sulfur compounds, Lu Yuan felt a tightness in his chest. He had to make sure he didn't faint on the way to his destination.

Finally, after Lu Yuan climbed over a huge rock, he was about to climb out when he heard a whooshing sound coming from ahead. Just as Lu Yuan was about to cross over, he quickly stopped, his entire back covered in cold sweat.

A deep chasm suddenly appeared ahead, and Lu Yuan almost fell into it. He was terrified and picked up a stone to throw into the chasm. It took a long time before he heard an echo. After calculating, Lu Yuan concluded that the depth of this place was about four or five hundred meters.

However, due to the excessive amount of debris in the surrounding air, he dared not venture too far. So he climbed sideways along one side of the rock, trying to find a way forward from the other side.

However, after walking for half an hour, Lu Yuan still saw a bottomless chasm on his right. He didn't know how far he had gone, but he knew that the length of the chasm was obviously beyond his expectations, which made Lu Yuan's heart sink to the bottom.

“Damn it, it can’t be…” Lu Yuan couldn’t believe it, nor did he dare to guess. If the mountain beneath his feet cracked again due to the earthquake, it would mean that he would be separated from his family. How would he get there?

Thinking of this, Lu Yuan quickened his pace again and kept running forward. Along the way, every now and then, Lu Yuan would throw a stone into the rift to listen to the sounds inside. But the bad news was that the shallowest part of these places was where he had just been, and the further he went, the deeper it got.

Lu Yuan was somewhat bewildered. He didn't know where to go next. What if he went back and the situation was the same as this side? But if he continued forward, would the rift be even deeper, and Lu Yuan couldn't see the other side of the rift?
