Chapter 271 Going to the Black Market

At this moment, Zhou Xiaoyun suddenly spoke up, "Uncle, those bad guys might want to do bad things because they see that your things are too valuable. Why don't you exchange them for something less valuable? If you exchange them a few times, you won't attract their attention, right?"

Lu Yuan smiled and said, "Xiao Yun is really smart! Uncle doesn't need to worry!"

The two, one big and one small, chatted for a while. Then the wooden door outside the shack opened, and Zhou Qi came in. Upon seeing Lu Yuan, he immediately looked delighted.

"Lu Yuan? What brings you here!"

Lu Yuan stood up and said, "I've already left the inner city. It's too much trouble to travel back and forth like this, so I cancelled my lease on that place! I figured I didn't have anything to do, so I came to see Xiaoyun and brought you some food! What have you been up to lately? You're covered in dust, have you found a job yet?"

Zhou Qi wiped the dust off his clothes with a towel and said, "Hey, there's no good job out there. I'll just find some porter work to do outside. Anyway, I'm just idling at home. Xiaoyun can help look after Xiaobao. By the way, did you find any work in the outer city? Aren't you going to go back to the mining job?"

"Of course I'll go, but I plan to become a shareholder in the mine and work with Uncle Chen. If you're willing, you can be my assistant, and your wife can help out in the kitchen, so it won't be so dangerous!"

Upon hearing Lu Yuan's words, Zhou Qi froze on the spot, then excitedly grabbed Lu Yuan and said, "Brother, are you serious? You're not kidding me, are you?"

Lu Yuan rolled his eyes at the other person: "What? You don't believe me? Fine, I'll leave this good thing to someone else!"

Zhou Qi quickly put on a smile and said, "Okay, okay, I believe you, alright? You absolutely have to keep this job for me! Um, I'll have your sister-in-law come back later and get you something nice to eat, and we can have a drink together?"

"Forget it, your family's conditions are what they are, so I won't eat here and add to your burden. Take care of the kids more often, Xiaoyun is quite sensible! I'll leave your things here, well, I'll be going now, I have something to do later." Perhaps because he had spent too much time with Heizi, Lu Yuan spoke somewhat without restraint.

"No, it's just a meal, why are you in such a hurry to leave? Let's just grab something to eat, it's been a few days since we last saw each other." Zhou Qi quickly stopped Lu Yuan when he saw him about to leave.

However, Lu Yuan had already stood up and waved to Zhou Xiaoyun: "Alright, Uncle is leaving now. I'll come see you again another day when I have time."

Seeing that Lu Yuan had already walked outside the door, Zhou Qi rushed over and said, "Brother, if there's anything I can help with, just let me know."

"Don't worry, I'll definitely call on you if there's anything you can do to help."

After saying that, Lu Yuan tightened his clothes and disappeared into the dimly lit street.

There weren't many roadside stalls, after all, the security in the outer city wasn't very good, and there were often robbers and thieves. After walking two blocks, Lu Yuan finally found a place to eat, but when he went in, he found that the food inside was just protein blocks made from some unknown materials from the slums.

Lu Yuan sighed and turned to leave, when suddenly someone called out to him from behind.

"My benefactor! I've finally met you."

Lu Yuan thought the other person had mistaken him for someone else, so he didn't turn around and continued walking forward. But the person behind him immediately rushed up to Lu Yuan, grabbed his arm tightly, and looked him up and down with excitement.

"My benefactor, don't you recognize me? I'm Huang Huahua's husband!"

Upon hearing the other person's words, Lu Yuan was somewhat surprised. In the dim light, he couldn't quite make out the other person's face, but after looking at him carefully for a few moments, he realized that this person was indeed Huang Huahua's husband. He had met him once before the fire, and the other person had abandoned Huang Huahua without a second thought. Lu Yuan didn't have much affection for this person, because he found it hard to accept that he would abandon his family after the apocalypse.

"You've mistaken me for someone else!" Lu Yuan glanced coldly at the other person and turned to leave. It wasn't that he wasn't interested in this person, but rather that his current identity was extremely sensitive. Very few people knew who he was; Han Wen was one, but Lu Yuan didn't know the others. As for how many people knew his true identity, there were very few in the entire Fifth District.

The man still wasn't going to let Lu Yuan go, and continued to chase after him, raising his voice a few decibels: "Impossible, I have a very deep impression of you. If it weren't for you, my wife might really be dead."

"Let go!" Lu Yuan said coldly.

The moment a sharp gaze fell upon the other man, his heart tightened and he quickly stepped aside, though he was still muttering to himself.

"There's no way I could mistake you for someone else! You're clearly Lu Yuan!"

As Lu Yuan walked, he looked around at the nearby buildings, silently memorizing the man's appearance and the shop.

Lu Yuan randomly found a deserted, dilapidated house and crawled inside. He took out some food from his pocket, casually gathered some wood nearby, lit a campfire, and roasted the cold meat before stuffing it into his mouth.

Having regained some of his strength, Lu Yuan tightened his clothes and leaned against a sheltered corner.

Suddenly, his phone vibrated in his pocket, and Lu Yuan quickly picked it up and pressed the answer button.

"I've already made arrangements for you. Come to the Qiaolou Hotel at noon tomorrow."
