There were more than a dozen ships docked at the pier, but they were all obviously being dismantled. The three of them felt a pang of heartache at the sight.
After all, each of these ships cost over a million before the apocalypse, and these people were using them as a source of steel, which was rather unsettling.
After waiting for a while, a short man with dark skin, wearing sunglasses, walked over and waved to the three of them.
"I'm the owner of the steel mill here! Are you looking to buy a boat?"
Lu Yuan nodded: "That's right! All of your ships have been dismantled like this, are there any ships left that can still be sailed?"
The man laughed heartily: "Haha, of course! The ships here are actually dismantling parts for your ship. Right now, none of the ships on the island can go out to sea, so we can only piece them together and try to get you out to sea as soon as possible!"
Hearing this, Lu Yuan was secretly alarmed. This person was incredibly audacious. He had come to buy a boat, a boat that could safely leave the sea, and this person was offering to cobble one together for him. Could this cobblestone boat really go out to sea? What if something went wrong? Who would he turn to?
Xiwen, standing to the side, also looked rather grim, frowning as he stared at the short, thin, dark-skinned man: "Are you kidding me?! You think we can just carve out a boat and get it moving? What if something goes wrong halfway through? We've already paid for it!"
However, the man didn't care at all: "Brother, we're already lucky to have found a boat, why think so much! Besides, we didn't damage the hull structure, we just took things out of the hull, we can just find other parts and put them in and it will still work! Don't worry, our people are all very skilled!"
With that, he led the three of them forward.
Finally, we arrived at an industrial dock. There were large cranes everywhere, and people lived in some of the nearby containers. They were all gathered in a group in the distance, but you could smell a stench from a great distance.
When these people saw Lu Yuan and his two companions, each of them had a look of surprise on their faces. However, before they could take a few more glances, several men in camouflage uniforms sternly herded them back into their respective containers.
Lu Yuan didn't know why everyone here looked like this, but the short, thin, dark-skinned man looked at them with a proud expression.
"These are all my slaves. If any of your ships are short of sailors, you can buy a few from me! I'll give you a discount!"
Han Wen frowned upon hearing this: "Slave?"
"Yes! They are slaves, you heard me right! These slaves will do anything for you, as long as you give them a bite to eat, or this!"
As he spoke, the other person took out a cigarette-shaped object from his pocket.
"Their dependence on food is not as strong anymore! As long as you give them these, they will absolutely do anything for you, remember, anything!"
At this point, the short, thin, dark-skinned man couldn't help but crack an exaggerated smile, revealing his black and yellow teeth. He looked exactly like Gollum from Lord of the Rings.
A hint of hatred flashed in the eyes of Lu Yuan and the other two, but they didn't say anything. The world order had long been broken. Except for a very few places where there was good public security, human rights had been completely violated in other places, such as small islands like this. There was nothing that people wouldn't do as long as they could survive.
Seeing that the three ignored him, the short, thin, and dark-skinned man didn't seem to care and continued to proudly introduce his business to them.
"I own a 30% stake in this slave market, as well as the shipyard—oh, I should call it the steel mill—all of which belong to me. There's also a red-light district over there. If you guys are bored, you can go in and try it out. I can provide a few of the better ones for free! Hehe!"
Looking at the other person's lewd appearance, Lu Yuan couldn't help but want to punch him, but in this small territory, Lu Yuan knew that doing so was not a wise choice.
Finally, we arrived at a relatively quiet beach. A huge cruise ship was anchored on the sea, with its anchor towed onto the beach and a gangway placed in the water. Many people were going back and forth, carrying things into the ship.
The short, thin, dark-skinned man pointed at the enormous yacht and said, "Look! This is your yacht! What do you think? Not bad, right? This yacht used to cost a whopping two hundred million!"
As he spoke, the other person sighed, "Right now it's just a pile of scrap metal, worthless. If you had come a few days later, this thing would probably really have become a pile of scrap metal!"
The group exchanged glances but didn't respond. Lu Yuan even felt that the other person was talking too much. Often, people die because they talk too much. But seeing how well-fed and healthy this short, thin man was, he was speechless.
They boarded the ship for inspection. To meet Lu Yuan and his group's needs, the short, thin, and dark-skinned man would try to fulfill any request they made. However, this would take time and money. Fortunately, Lu Yuan was not short of money, especially hard currency like gold. He had brought quite a bit with him, all of which he had collected in recent years. He was afraid that one day paper money would depreciate, and gold would definitely become a hard currency.
However, Lu Yuan and Han Wen were both laymen when it came to the ship's facilities, so they couldn't really make any good requests. This matter could only be left to Xi Wen to handle, since he was the professional captain with rich sailing experience. Xi Wen was the most qualified to speak on what the ship needed and what could be sacrificed.
