Chapter 315 Graceful Actions

Previously, Lieutenant Colonel Lei had instructed everyone at the veterans' base to cooperate with Lu Yuan's work, but the logistics department was the only one who was reluctant.

After all, Lu Yuan immediately demanded that they take all the livestock and poultry away. How could they accept that? It was the last ration for these hundreds of soldiers. They were reluctant to eat it. If they gave it all to Lu Yuan and the experiment failed, all of them would be doomed.

However, when Lu Yuanzhong demonstrated the catalyst's capabilities, the head of the logistics department could no longer sit still and summoned all the livestock to come over.

Hearing Lu Yuan's words, everyone felt extremely awkward.

"Cough cough, there's no food left for people, so the livestock... well, we'll just have to make do with them!"

The head of the logistics department looked slightly annoyed, but he quickly handed the reins to Lu Yuan.

"Go ahead and experiment, brother! We're confident in our abilities!"

Lu Yuan smiled and said, "Don't worry, we've almost solved the food problem where we are! Otherwise, I wouldn't have done this!"

Then Lu Yuan picked up the reins and led a few pigs.

He took a ladle of water from a sink and poured it directly into a pile of soybeans.

Lu Yuan gently patted the pig's head, but this time his hand was a little too heavy, and the pig almost fell to the ground. Looking at the pig, which was so weak and unsteady, Lu Yuan couldn't help but feel a little annoyed.

How often do you usually feed your pigs?

The head of the logistics department standing behind Lu Yuan scratched his head and thought for a while before saying, "Well... there's no specific time. It seems like the last time was about a week ago!"

Lu Yuan couldn't help but roll his eyes. He had fed her once a week ago; it would be a miracle if she wasn't this hungry.

Next, Lu Yuan pushed the feeding trough directly to the pig's mouth. The pig seemed a little afraid of people and kept trying to run away, but after sniffing, it suddenly smelled a strong aroma, so it tentatively put its mouth into the feeding trough and began to eat in big mouthfuls.

After the first pig ate the food, Lu Yuan didn't plan to feed the other pigs, cattle, and sheep. After all, their resources were already meager, and if they couldn't withstand the stimulation and died, Lu Yuan would truly become their sinner.

Soon, the pig finished all the food in the trough. The pig wagged its tail, seemingly indicating that it was still not full, but Lu Yuan did not intend to feed it too much. After being hungry for so long, it would be easy for it to die from overeating. Giving it a little less would slowly stimulate it.

Everyone around was watching with bated breath as the pig underwent a new transformation. Lu Yuan stood up with a sullen expression and said...

"Well, everyone, let's go back first. We'll come back tomorrow. This pig still needs time to recover! It won't be that quick!"

However, none of them intended to leave. Lu Yuan couldn't help but shake his head. The experiment they had just conducted had given them great confidence, and they wanted to witness with their own eyes once again that this catalyst could also have an effect on animals.

Lieutenant Colonel Lei stared intently at the pig lying on the ground, fast asleep.

"I don't have anything else to do anyway, so I'll just stay here and keep an eye on things!"

The others nodded in agreement.

"Yes, Lu Yuan, you guys go back and rest first. We'll keep watch here! Oh, and we'll bring you the bathwater tonight!"

Lu Yuan and the others exchanged glances and smiled helplessly. It seemed that these people wouldn't give up until they saw changes. After all, when Lu Yuan and his group arrived, they were somewhat skeptical about how powerful the catalyst was, but seeing the speed at which the soybeans grew gave them great encouragement.

Back at his lodgings, Lu Yuan lay on his bed. He was thinking about when he could get everything sorted out and then get the soldiers to help him get a boat. He didn't want to wait a moment longer, especially since he was fed up with this life of drifting overseas.

That evening, Lu Yuan and Han Wen and several other team members had dinner together. In the entire camp, only their living quarters and the laboratory were lit. Normally, they would ration electricity to reduce energy consumption, but now the lights were on all the time.

There were practically no people in the entire camp. Almost everyone was in the laboratory. Hundreds of people were crammed into the small laboratory, but no one felt crowded. They were waiting, because if the experiment succeeded, their future would be changed.

However, Lu Yuan knew that the pig had been starving for far too long, and it would take a long time for it to recover. There was no point in dragging it out like this. But no matter how many times he tried to persuade them, they didn't take it seriously and preferred to stand guard there in the cold wind.

It was late at night, and Lu Yuan had already fallen asleep when suddenly he heard footsteps outside his room, and a number of people were jumping and hopping around, as if something big had happened and they needed to gather.

Lu Yuan immediately sat up, then hurriedly put on his clothes and rushed out of the room. He saw that the other team members in the corridor had also been awakened. They had been on tenterhooks for some time now. Although they were in the veterans' camp, surrounded by heavily armed soldiers, the sudden noise made them all get up.

Just as everyone was looking at each other in bewilderment, suddenly, several soldiers darted out of the corridor. They all had happy expressions on their faces and their steps were particularly light.

"What... exactly happened between you?"

"Haha! That's great! That's great! The pig has grown up! The pig has grown up!"
