The woman's face immediately lit up with a smile. She glanced around warily, then stuffed the items into her bosom and whispered to Lu Yuan, "It's not very safe here. There are spies from the mine everywhere. Come with me!"
Following the woman, Lu Yuan and his group arrived at a place not far from the beach. The place was crowded with tents and some living quarters. Some people didn't even have tents; they just found some billboards that had been blown to pieces by the wind and set them up as their own homes.
The entire area was filled with a pungent stench. It was hard to describe the smell, but even a slight sniff was enough to send a pungent, irritating odor straight to the brain, like the smell of urine scale in an old-fashioned outhouse, but with a hint of fishiness. It was so unpleasant that it made one's nose hurt.
The woman didn't seem to mind. Instead, she found a few stools, wiped the dirt off them, and gestured for Lu Yuan and the others to sit down.
The tent wasn't very big and was drafty, but thankfully the temperature wasn't too low, otherwise many people would have frozen to death.
After eating two cookies, the woman resisted the urge to eat more, and then carefully placed the food in a box under the bed and locked it.
"Alright, ask away. I'll tell you everything I know!"
Lu Yuan nodded, then pondered for a moment before asking the question that concerned him most.
"When we came here, we heard that this is a composite island, formed by earthquakes that struck many different continents. We're looking for Shanxi Province, so could you tell us where it is? If you could take us there, that would be even better!" Lu Yuan asked eagerly, then after a moment's thought, added, "Of course, we'll definitely reward you handsomely!"
A hint of excitement flashed across the woman's face, but it quickly turned to a sigh: "Alas! I really want to take you there, but the mines here won't let me! I've already sold myself here; I can't get out!"
"Alright! Tell me the exact location of Shanxi Province, and we can find it ourselves!"
The woman nodded: "Okay, Jin Province is actually quite far from here! It will probably take about two days to walk there! If you have a car, it should be faster, but there are many small tribes along the way. If you pass through them, you may be charged some tolls. There are also a few powerful ones, so you need to be careful. They basically arrest any outsiders they see! Be careful!"
As she spoke, the woman took out a twig and drew a rough map of the island on the ground.
