Chapter 325 Finally Home

Lu Yuan quickly stepped forward to inquire about his family's situation.

Suddenly, a dog barked in the distance.

Then a large, lean, and strong dog pounced on them.

"Big...Big Yellow?" The moment Lu Yuan saw the big dog, he burst into tears.

The fur on Big Yellow's body is no longer the long, golden fur it used to have; it's all black now, and there are even some injured spots. Its legs aren't very agile, but it still runs very happily.

Da Huang leaped up and pounced into Lu Yuan's arms, wagging its tail and whimpering.

Lu Yuan held Da Huang's head tightly, tears streaming down his face. He no longer cared about the strange smell and stains on Da Huang's body, and just kept holding it tightly, afraid that it would slip away if he wasn't careful.

Xiwen and the others stood not far away, looking at the big yellow dog in Lu Yuan's arms with some surprise.

"This... there are still dogs at this time? There are actually dogs that can survive the famine of the first year of the apocalypse? That's unbelievable!"

"Yeah, it's been such a long time since I've seen a dog. Looks like Lu Yuan's family is really rich!"

"This is so touching! It looks like the dog has an injured leg!"

"..."

Several people were talking amongst themselves, but no one bothered Lu Yuan.

After a while, Lu Yuan gently patted Da Huang's head and then took out a piece of jerky from his pocket.

Big Yellow sniffed the jerky lightly, its mouth watering instantly. Just as it was about to eat it, it seemed to remember something and simply put the jerky in its mouth.

At this moment, an elderly scavenger in the distance slowly straightened his hunched back, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

"That's strange, this dog is actually being friendly to people today! Usually, it's a good sign if it doesn't bite!"

Upon hearing his words, Lu Yuan quickly ran over and asked.

"Sir, do you know where this dog came from?"

The old man nodded, then shook his head.

“I knew before, but now… that family has moved away! But this dog comes here every day, probably looking for its owner! For the past few months, it's been here every single day! It stays here all day long, and it bites anyone who gets close. Everyone around here knows about it!”

"What? It's been months? Do you know where those people moved to?"

The old man shook his head and asked in return, "Young man, are you the owner of this dog?"

Lu Yuan nodded: "Yes, I am the owner of this dog! I come from out of town and want to find my family! If you have any information, please tell me, and I will give you a generous reward!"

The old man gave a bitter laugh: "Sigh! If it were before, I might have earned this reward from you, but now... I'm old, I can't walk anymore, and my mind isn't as sharp as it used to be. I really can't help you anymore!"

"It's nothing, thank you anyway!"

At this moment, Da Huang tugged at Lu Yuan's trouser leg, whimpering as if trying to express something.

Standing behind Lu Yuan, Han Wen frowned and thought for a moment before shouting, "Lu Yuan, this dog might know where your family is! Why don't you go with it!"

Lu Yuan slapped his forehead: "Oh yeah! I completely forgot about that! Damn it, my mind is a complete mess right now. Great!"

After saying that, Lu Yuan squatted down in front of Da Huang again, and then quietly took out a golden fruit from his pocket and stuffed it into Da Huang's mouth.

Having eaten the golden fruit before, Dahuang knew its purpose and swallowed it without hesitation.

After a few minutes, Da Huang's body began to recover, and his previously limping leg became steady again.

"Dahuang, do you know where Grandpa and Grandma are?"

Big Yellow seemed to understand and nodded repeatedly.

"Great! You lead the way! Let's go home!"

Da Huang immediately jumped up happily, and then ran forward while occasionally looking back.

Everyone looked at Da Huang and Lu Yuan with envy.

"What a good dog! It reminds me of my husky, sigh!"

"Although it's a mongrel, it's incredibly intelligent and understanding! That's rare!"

"Of course, these days, it's incredibly difficult to see any animals other than poultry and livestock!"

The group followed Big Yellow, chatting as they went.

Lu Yuan relied on his superior stamina to keep going without stopping, but the people behind him couldn't keep up. They dragged their heavy steps and panted heavily.

"Lu Yuan, let's... let's rest for a bit, we really can't walk anymore!"

"Your stamina is truly insane! You've been running for over an hour straight, and my calves are about to cramp up!"

"Slow down, wait for me! I can't run anymore! Let me rest for a while!"

Lu Yuan felt a little embarrassed, then signaled Da Huang to stop. The group drank some water, rested for a few minutes, and then continued on their way.

Although the road was rugged, Lu Yuan's thoughts were entirely on his family. He just wanted to see them immediately, a day he had dreamed of countless times.

Now that he was so close to home, he didn't want to wait any longer.

Finally, the group was led by Big Yellow to a valley. There were many tents nearby, and although they were covered in thick volcanic ash, the path leading in and out was clean.
