Zhou Tong had no doubts and could only choose to believe him.
The two put on gas masks and then crept directly into the smoke-filled factory.
Inside, it was pitch black, and the corners smelled faintly of mold because they hadn't seen sunlight for years. It smelled like eggs that had been sitting out for who knows how many years. Fortunately, we had gas masks, so we could only smell the stench, but it didn't really pose any harm to our bodies.
With the flashlight shining inside, dust flies everywhere, and sometimes it's easy to kick over some machinery and equipment scattered on the ground.
The two walked very carefully. Whenever they encountered a machine, they would squat down and observe it for a long time. Because they had never been in contact with spinning machines before, they did not know which equipment was useful, which was not, which was intact, or which was missing parts or damaged.
Some of the machines still had seals on them. The writing on these seals was no longer legible due to the passage of time, but the two men guessed that these were the seals that were put up when the nationwide blackout forced the machines to stop working.
Zhou Tong was searching on the other side when he suddenly shouted, "Lu Yuan, come and see! There's a new discovery!"
Upon hearing this, Lu Yuan hurriedly ran over, nearly tripping over a chair on the ground in the process.
Upon closer inspection, Zhou Tong was seen holding a flashlight in one hand and a crumpled notebook in the other.
"Look, these seem to be some of the ledgers they used for daily inventory checks! They record the usage of some equipment! The date is July 2026!"
"July 2026... that should be the time of the nationwide blackout! This should be the last time they conduct an inventory of the books!"
"That's right! If we search according to this list, we should be able to find some that we need!"
"Great! But we can't take all this equipment with us at once!"
Zhou Tong gave a wry smile: "What are you thinking! How can we possibly take all this equipment with us? So many lumps of iron, just moving them will be a problem. Besides, there are no cranes here! Carrying them by hand is not practical! This entire production line has to be disassembled and taken away! Then reassembling it will be another problem!"
Lu Yuan was immediately annoyed. Zhou Tong was right. All these spinning equipment were connected as a whole line. If he wanted to take them all away, he would have to disassemble them. Otherwise, a production line would weigh tens or hundreds of tons and be so long that it would be impossible to move them!
"Then let's find some more people! See if anyone around here has worked in a spinning mill! As long as they know what these machines are for, we can take them with us!"
"Alright! So what do we do now? Go back or take another look?"
Lu Yuan didn't want to leave. He wanted to see if there was anything of value left. They were about to move to a new place and were lacking many things. Although they weren't necessities, living in the cave for a long time would definitely make them feel depressed, so they needed some entertainment.
"Let's keep looking! Maybe we can find something else! Let's mark this spot first! We'll bring people back when we get back and take all of this away!"
"Great! Let's go take a look! I'm short of something where I'm staying, let's see if we can find it!"
The two emerged from the smoke-filled factory and immediately felt much better breathing after removing their gas masks.
"Holy crap! This place is no place for a human to live! Let's go! That should be the office building and residential area! But it's collapsed quite badly, let's see if there's anything of value left!"
So the two of them quickly started walking towards that place.
Unlike the factory buildings, which are constructed of steel sheds, the office and residential areas are made of cement panels. What should have been three-story buildings have been reduced to one story due to the earthquake. The buildings were split in two due to the earthquake and collapsed to the left and right sides respectively. However, some areas in the triangular corners of the walls were not buried.
To prevent their hands from getting cut, both of them wore thick gloves.

So the two of them each tried to lift the table, but they found that the mahogany table was really too heavy. Lu Yuan was able to lift one side, but Zhou Tong tried a lot of effort and still couldn't lift the table.
