Good days always pass quickly, and the Lantern Festival is here in the blink of an eye.
The temperature rose several degrees again before the holiday, and Lu Yuan even felt that God was deliberately working against him.
However, he still needed to make the necessary preparations, as he didn't want to cause himself too much trouble later due to a momentary oversight.
Before the Lantern Festival, everyone was preparing for the festival. In order to ensure that everyone could have a peaceful Lantern Festival, Lu Yuan specially prepared two jin of glutinous rice flour and two jin of various fillings for each household.
Zhou Tong visited Lu Yuan's house that day. It was just him and his sister at home, so after staying there for a while, Zhou Chen suggested that they go out for a walk.
However, apart from Lu Yuan's family, which has the largest and most complete family in the camp, there is really no other family as lively as theirs.
Therefore, at his sister's insistence, Zhou Tong had no choice but to bring her to Lu Yuan's house.
Zhou Tong knocked on the door.
Lu Yuan was sitting on the sofa reading a novel when he heard a noise outside the door, so he quickly went to open it.
"Brother Zhou? Xiao Chen? Come in quickly!"
Having not left the house for several days, Lu Yuan was feeling a bit bored, so he was somewhat pleasantly surprised to see Zhou Tong and his sister come in.
"Ahem! Excuse me, I'm sorry to have come to your house on such a holiday!"
"Ugh! I'm so bored! Everyone's busy with their own things, I don't even know how I can help! I'll go get you some fruit!"
As he spoke, Lu Yuan returned to the kitchen and brought out a fruit platter containing some watermelon, pomelo, and mangoes.
Although these things are not very common in the camp, Lu Yuan still took them out and planted them, but he basically only gave them to some people inside the camp to eat.
Although they were all in the same camp, Lu Yuan felt it was better to keep the relationships clear to avoid things getting too chaotic.
Zhou Chen was a little timid at first, but after a while he completely let go of his courage and went to play with Xiao Shan.
Lu Yuan and Zhou Tong sat on the sofa chatting.
"By the way, the weather seems to be getting hotter and hotter lately!"
Zhou Tong couldn't think of anything to talk about for a moment, so he casually mentioned the weather.
"Yes! It's a bit unusual!"
Lu Yuan didn't know what was going on either. He had confidently told them that there would definitely be severe cold weather, but this seemed to be a bit of a slap in the face.
"Do you think... maybe you've made a mistake? Are we going to go back to the first year of the apocalypse again?"
"Um... I don't think so. The weather is just right now! It's not like the first year when the temperature rose several degrees every day! There shouldn't be any more high-temperature days!"
The two were silent for a while, wanting to smoke, but worried about being discovered by their families, so they secretly discussed going outside to smoke.
Just as the two of them stood up, Zhou Chen excitedly pulled Xiao Shan out from inside.
"Great! Brother, can I ask Sister Xiaoshan to take me to make lanterns?"
Zhou Tong immediately put on a stern face: "Xiao Chen, stop fooling around, your sister Xiao Shan is busy! Don't bother her!"
After saying that, he explained a little embarrassedly, "This girl, I've spoiled her rotten! Well, we'll be going now! We'll come find you guys to play another day!"
She was about to pull Zhou Chen away when Xiao Shan stopped her.
"Brother Zhou, it's alright. Xiao Chen is very obedient. Come on, Xiao Chen, let's go upstairs. I'll make you a lantern!"
"This..." Zhou Tong didn't know what to say for a moment.
Lu Yuan patted him on the shoulder: "Alright, Brother Zhou, let's go outside and chat for a while! Let them play inside! Xiao Chen is a sensible girl, it's okay!"
"Sigh! Alright! Xiao Chen, you have to listen to your older sister Xiao Shan!"
"Okay! I understand!"
After saying that, Zhou Chen happily pulled Xiao Shan upstairs.
Lu Yuan and Zhou Tong sat on a pile of rubble outside the cave, smoking cigarettes and looking up at the sky.
"What the hell is going on? We haven't seen the sun in ages! How come there are so many moons?"
"Yeah! I remember there were only five moons a while ago, but now... it seems like there are two more! Does this mean our Earth has left the solar system?"
"I reckon... it should be about right! Oh well! Whatever! As long as the Earth doesn't explode, we still have a chance to survive! But will the Earth really be okay without the sun?"
The two remained silent for a moment, only able to sit with cigarettes in their mouths and gaze at the sky.
The sky was clear and blue. Lu Yuan had always lived in Qingshui City, a place with a high concentration of industrial areas. He hadn't seen a clear sky for many years, and large areas of smog often appeared in autumn and winter.
The starry sky he remembered from his childhood was gone. Lu Yuan clearly remembered that he bought a star chart card when he was a child. In order to find the corresponding constellations, he would go to the balcony to look at the stars almost every night. But it seems that he never saw this again when he entered junior high school.
But now, after several major disasters, Lu Yuan saw the sky full of stars again. However, the sky above him seemed to no longer contain the Big Dipper, Ursa Minor, Scorpio, and other constellations that he used to be able to spot.
Just then, the sounds of chasing and playing came from afar, followed by twinkling lights under the moonlight, drifting in all directions, mixed with the joyful laughter of children.
