Chapter 358 Lu Yuan's Inner Changes

Along the way, Lu Yuan led everyone at a frantic pace toward the camp. Although he was very grateful to Liu Chen and the others for rescuing Xiao Shan and the others, now was definitely not the time to express his gratitude, since the situation in the camp was still unknown.

The journey back became much easier, thanks to the wind, which made their pace much faster.

Everyone knew what would happen if the camp was destroyed, so no one said anything and could only try to catch up with Lu Yuan as quickly as possible.

Along the way, they found several corpses. Although they couldn't tell anything from their appearance, the bodies were almost completely naked, indicating that they had been abandoned by their teammates.

After spending three days in the mine, the outside temperature dropped several degrees again.

As Lu Yuan walked, he wiped the fog off his goggles with his hand, because if he didn't wipe it off in time, it would condense into frost, which would greatly affect his walking speed.

After crossing mountains and ravines, everyone's hearts were in their throats.

Xiwen, who was at the back of the group, was panting heavily. The heavy clothes he was wearing made him move very slowly. He pulled his scarf down a little.

"Lu Yuan, why do I have a feeling that those pursuers are showing signs of turning back?"

Upon hearing his words, Lu Yuan quickly stopped and turned around to walk to his side, asking urgently, "How do you know they'll go back? What's your basis for that?"

Xiwen took a couple of breaths and pointed to a line of footprints on the ice.

“Look, these footprints seem to indicate that another group of people passed through here. They didn’t go in the direction of our camp. This is the shortest route. If these people weren’t stupid, they wouldn’t have taken such a big detour in this cold weather!”

Lu Yuan looked at the footprints on the ground for a while, and was also somewhat puzzled.

"Where will they go? They've already gone halfway, there's no need for them to turn back to another place, right?"

Xiao Shan then walked over, squatted down, and gently measured the marks on the ground with her hand.

"Do you think it's possible that another group discovered their trail and robbed them?"

"Huh? Another group? It can't be such a coincidence, can it? In this freezing weather, no one would be willing to take it out, right?"

Everyone immediately fell into thought, no one could guess where they had gone, or whether these people had gone to their camp.

After pondering for a moment, Lu Yuan decided to return to the camp as soon as possible, as he was particularly worried about his family.

"Don't think too much about it now, let's get back to camp as soon as possible! Hopefully, these people didn't go to camp!"

"Great! We're going a bit faster with the wind! It's so much better, getting here was really tough!"

Everyone straightened their clothes and then began to desperately move towards the camp.

The group had traveled for two days to arrive, but their return journey was much faster.

However, since crossing the glacier, no more corpses have been seen on the road, which means that the situation along the way is basically in line with everyone's guess.

When we arrived at the campsite, the wind was still very strong at the mouth of the valley, and there were no signs of anyone having passed through. In such a windy weather, there would hardly be any footprints left on the ground.

First, they passed through the west area, where the wind was much stronger than on the east side. Lu Yuan walked closer to check on their situation, but stopped at the door.

"Forget it! I really don't want to care about these people's lives anymore!"

Lu Yuan gritted his teeth and left the entrance of the West District. After arriving at the East District, Lu Yuan and the others couldn't wait to move the stone blocking the entrance.

Those inside immediately became alert upon hearing the commotion outside.

"Who goes there?" a deep, wary voice came from inside.

"It's me, Lu Yuan! I've come to check on you!"

Upon hearing Lu Yuan's voice, there was an immediate burst of excitement inside. After a while, everyone worked hard to clear away the stones blocking the doorway and finally opened the door.

"Great! Boss Lu is back! How is the situation? Is it only our ore that's malfunctioning?"

"Come in quickly! You've been gone for so long, we were really worried!"

"Oh! We all thought something had happened to you! Thank goodness you're back!"

"..."

The crowd, chattering amongst themselves, ushered Lu Yuan and his group inside. Once inside the cave, a huge bonfire illuminated the corner of the cave entrance with a blazing fire.

"Phew! It's so comfortable in here!" Lu Yuan said to everyone as he took off his hat and goggles.

The other team members also took off their gear. The temperature outside was too low, and now that they were in such a comfortable environment, they felt like they had returned to heaven.

Although the air here is filled with the smell of smoke and dust, it is much, much better than the mining area.

After all, the management here was carried out in accordance with the rules that Lu Yuan and his team had set up beforehand, and no one violated them. More importantly, Cao Shan and his team were responsible for the construction here, and they put a lot of effort into every aspect.

As they warmed themselves by the fire, they began to recount the various thrilling events that had occurred during their trip.

In fact, Lu Yuan didn't want to tell them what had happened to him, but Xi Wen and the others felt that this matter had to be told to everyone, and that they should know how much Lu Yuan had paid for this camp. With such a leader, why aren't you all sincerely submitting to him? What are you waiting for?
