Big Yellow lay down by the fire. When it saw Grandma wiping away tears, it couldn't help but come over and rub its big head against her. Seeing Big Yellow, Grandma seemed to remember the calf she used to raise in her hometown.
"Let's go back to fulfill Grandma's dream!"
Xiao Shan couldn't help but wipe away her tears as well.
Then everyone began to express their opinions. No one was unwilling to go back, after all, that place was where they were born and raised.
Some of the landmasses may no longer exist, but on Taipingzhou, most of the Chinese territory is still there. That is their main battlefield. Even if their own hometown is no longer there, as long as they can return there, everyone feels content.
"Sigh, speaking of which, I still have a few creditors who haven't paid me back. Now that I think about it, I might as well not have the money. It's enough to just sit with them, chat and brag!"
Xiao Shan's father sat to the side and said with a sigh.
Dad Lu stubbed out his cigarette and threw it into the fire. He fell into deep thought and glanced at Mom Lu beside him: "Didn't Wang Laosan from our village still owe us some money? If I run into him, I'll make him treat me to a good meal!"
Suddenly, everyone started reminiscing about their past. As they talked, the conversation broadened, from trivial matters to major events, people, and experiences. Everyone shared their memories.
With the departure from the island on the agenda, Lu Yuan began making intensive preparations for returning home. What he needed now was an absolutely safe way to bring everyone back.
He now has more than ten people under his command. Although there are still a few people in the East District who have not been able to come out, Lu Yuan decided to make a list for them.
Although Kong Hanting was deeply in love with Lu Yuan, Lu Yuan didn't have many feelings for her. However, he trusted her character completely, so he included her name on the list.
Sun Zhe and Liu Tiantian are also in the East District. They came here with him from Qingshui City and can be considered veterans. Lu Yuan included them in the list because they are both quite capable. Their only burden is their child, who is less than five years old.
Chen Ke and Professor Zhu and the others have now disappeared without a trace. Lu Yuan is unable to find time to search for them, so he has no choice but to give up on them. After thinking about it for a long time, he finally wrote down more than ten names in his notebook.
Closing his laptop, Lu Yuan stood up and stretched.
Having finalized the list of personnel, Lu Yuan did not intend to immediately bring these people back. He wanted to see what the Eastern District's attitude was.
Although the Apache helicopter can only carry two people, if the rear ammunition compartment and other equipment are removed, it can carry about thirty people. The remaining space is enough to store some food, water and fuel.
However, Lu Yuan's mind was now on the yacht they had brought earlier. After all, flying a plane in such a situation with poor visibility and no positioning system was far too dangerous. If something went wrong, it would basically mean the plane crashed and everyone on board died.
However, sailing is riskier than flying a plane. There is no route to guide them, they consume more fuel, and their speed is slower. If they encounter a blizzard along the way, they may be stranded.
Lu Yuan was scribbling something on the paper when a thought suddenly popped into his mind.
"If we park the Apache helicopter on the deck and all the personnel go into the cabin, would that be enough?"
Thinking of this, Lu Yuan immediately perked up and quickly stood up and walked towards the camp in the western district.
The cold wind continued to howl, and the sky grew even more gloomy, which further solidified Lu Yuan's plan to develop amphibious capabilities.
The blizzard hasn't arrived yet, but Lu Yuan knows it might be related to the climate in different parts of the world. Although he doesn't know where the cold front is now, the blizzard will eventually come, and once it does, the journey will become even more difficult.
Seven moons peeked out from time to time in the sky, making the sky look particularly gloomy, and the ground had been blown clean.
Braving the strong cold wind, Lu Yuan arrived at the entrance of the West District and pounded on the door hard.
A short while later, a small opening appeared in the door, and a head peeked out and looked at Lu Yuan.
"Boss Lu?"
"Open the door quickly, I'm looking for Qi Liang!"
The other party hurriedly opened the door, and Lu Yuan casually grabbed some food and distributed it to the children crowding in front of the door, but most of it was snatched away by the adults behind them.
Their condition looked even more miserable than before, with only dry, shriveled skin remaining on each person's face.
Some people even lay curled up far from the fire, occasionally opening their eyes to look at it, then weakly closing them again, as if the world had nothing to do with them anymore.
Children expend less energy than adults, but they still look thin and weak. Each of them has cracked mouths, and their little arms look like sheets hanging on a clothes rack, with hardly any flesh on them.
Several of the slightly older men had long since lost their beer bellies, leaving only shriveled skin, and they had to tighten their belts every now and then.
