We chatted for a long time, and as night deepened, dark clouds once again shrouded the moon, plunging the entire earth into darkness.
Xiwen and the others yawned, feeling a bit overwhelmed. They found some blankets in the cabin and wrapped themselves in them.
Zhou Tong chain-smoked cigarettes, his eyes fixed intently on the sea, wondering when the enormous monster would return.
Everyone was almost asleep, but Lu Yuan kept his ears glued to the sea.
To prevent the giant beast from suddenly appearing, he attached several copper bells to the iron chain. Whenever the chain shook violently, these bells would ring.
Lu Yuan checked the time; nearly ten hours had passed. It was 4:30 a.m., and the dark clouds had not yet dispersed. Lu Yuan didn't know if the giant beast was still patrolling other sea areas, as it hadn't found the cows here.
Just as he was getting sleepy, a series of clanging sounds suddenly came from the distant mountains, followed by the sound of falling rocks. Lu Yuan immediately sat up straight and listened carefully.
"A giant beast is coming! A giant beast!"
After saying that, he ripped off the blanket and ran toward the cliff.
Behind the cliff, a huge rock was tied, which had long since broken off. The iron chain dragged the broken rock back and forth across the mountain, the bells on the chain constantly clanging.
Lu Yuan quickly picked up his binoculars and looked out at the sea. He saw that the entire sea area had turned gray and black.
The waves on the sea became much more turbulent, with one huge wave after another crashing against the rocks on the shore.
He could almost see the enormous beast underwater. Although the beast hadn't surfaced, he could feel the immense threat emanating from it.
Down the mountain, Zhou Tong and the others were shouting desperately.
"Wow, this beast must be at least 500 meters long!"
Zhou Tong excitedly looked out at the sea through his binoculars. He saw a tsunami rising up on the sea surface, like a giant barrier surging in, and then the surging seawater crashed against the ship on the shore.
Xiwen and the others quickly retreated, but the waves came too fast, and they didn't have time to dodge. The campfire they had used for warmth went out in the face of the giant waves.
"Quick, get to the cliff! Get to the top of the cliff!"
Lu Yuan shouted at them at the top of his lungs.
Without thinking, Xiwen and the others ran straight towards Lu Yuan.
In order to better observe the giant beast, Lu Yuan didn't know what he was thinking, but he reached out and grabbed the other end of the chain. But as soon as he grabbed the chain, he felt a tremendous force coming from it.
With a clang, the iron chain snapped, and Lu Yuan was flung away.
As he flew through the air, Lu Yuan was filled with fear. This was the first time in his life that he felt death was so close. Fortunately, he had made plans in advance. If he had rashly gone out to sea, and had been spotted by this behemoth, their fate would definitely not have been good.
Fortunately, Lu Yuan let go in mid-air, his body flying far away in a parabola before landing steadily on the ground.
"Phew! That was close! That was close!" Lu Yuan gasped for breath, supporting his knees.
The yacht, over 200 meters long, moored in the distance, was utterly insignificant compared to this enormous creature on the sea.
Several of them ran up and then used a telescope equipped with measuring devices to continuously adjust the angle of the telescope towards the sea.
Suddenly, a huge crashing sound came from the sea. The entire cliff seemed to be attacked by a DD (Digital Bullet), and everyone lost their footing and fell to the ground.
With a "splash," a burst of water carrying a large amount of rocks landed on the ground, and Lu Yuan felt as if his heart had been squeezed hard.
Han Wen stood up, read the markings on the telescope, took out paper and pen, and began to calculate while lying on the ground, holding the light above his head.
Soon, Han Wenbian said in a slightly frightened voice, "We've measured it! This giant beast is about 780 meters long!"
Upon hearing Han Wen's words, everyone was shocked. What kind of concept is 780 meters? A school playground is only about 200 meters long, while the other person's size is roughly equivalent to the length of four playgrounds. Such a huge body is hard for them to imagine as a creature.
Lu Yuan opened his mouth as if to say something, but the horror in his heart prevented him from making a sound.
He quickly squatted down to the side, took out his binoculars, and looked out at the sea. The boulder had long since disappeared, and the iron chain had been dragged into the water by the giant beast.
The giant beast had only shown its face once before, and Lu Yuan had only caught a glimpse of its blurry figure. It was an enormous creature, entirely black, covered in armor-like scales.
Lu Yuan only caught a glimpse of its enormous mouth in his panic. The mouth must have been at least tens of meters long. With a mouth that big, even a small boat wouldn't be enough for it to swallow whole.
Lu Yuan swallowed hard. They didn't know if they could continue on this sea route. If they didn't kill this guy, their journey would be ruined.
After a long time, the sea finally calmed down. The moon quietly peeked out, its silver light spilling onto the ground. The sea returned to its previous calm, the waves were much smaller, and the night was even colder. Lu Yuan and the others sat on the shore, soaking wet.
