Lu Yuan stubbed out his cigarette, then stood up and walked around the room twice with his hands behind his back, before finally closing the door behind him.
The other person was still casually smoking, and seeing that Lu Yuan looked normal, he simply lay down on his recliner, crossed his legs, and started smoking.
However, Lu Yuan suddenly slammed his hand on the table: "Hou Lin, you're a fucking bastard! I fed you, clothed you, and supported you and your woman, and you still sold this information to outsiders! Tell me, why did you do this?!"
Hou Lin was lying on the recliner when he was so startled that he almost fell off. He accidentally burned his mouth with a cigarette butt, which made him gasp in pain. He quickly stubbed out the cigarette and stood up nervously.
The other person, who was lying on the small bed next to him, was also startled awake by Lu Yuan. Without even thinking, he stood in front of him, looking down at the ground like a primary school student who had made a mistake.
"Will you tell me yourself, or do you want me to take you to Qi Liang for a confrontation?"
Lu Yuan's voice was somewhat cold, and Hou Lin and the other man felt their whole bodies trembling. Suddenly, he knelt down with a "thud," kowtowing repeatedly and pleading, "Boss, please don't send us away! We know we were wrong. We were just temporarily blinded by greed and believed Qi Liang's lies! Please give us another chance!"
Lu Yuan sneered: "I gave you a chance, but you were useless!"
The noise from the room immediately attracted the family members.
Just as Lu's mother was about to open the door, she found it was locked from the inside. So she gently knocked on the door and asked, "Lu Yuan, what's going on? What are you arguing about?"
Upon hearing the voice outside the door, Hou and Lin felt as if they had been saved. They quickly raised their voices, saying, "Boss, we were wrong. We'll never do it again. Please give us a chance. We promise, give us three days at most, and we'll definitely get the radio signal working!"
Lu Yuan didn't move, remaining standing in the same spot. He then lit another cigarette and said, "I'll give you one day. If you can't handle it, you know what to do!"
After saying that, Lu Yuan threw the cigarette on the ground and then opened the door.
Lu Ma and the others stood outside the door, and were stunned for a moment when they saw Hou Lin and the other person kneeling on the ground. Then Lu Yuan walked out of the door, his face not looking too good.
Xiao Shan's mother quickly tugged at Xiao Shan's sleeve and gave her a wink. Xiao Shan immediately understood and quietly followed behind Lu Yuan.
"What happened?" Xiao Shan's voice was filled with concern.
"Heh, just these two traitors. From today onwards, their meals will no longer be prepared the same way as before! Just make sure they don't starve to death!"
After Lu Yuan finished speaking, he sat down on the sofa.
Seeing that Lu Yuan had no intention of continuing the conversation, Xiao Shan could only silently close the door, sit down next to Lu Yuan, and place his hand in her own.
A day later, Hou and Lin indeed cracked the radio's code, but they stayed in their room all night without coming out.
Hou Lin's face was pale, and his eyes were bloodshot. Lu Yuan pretended not to see it; he didn't want to say anything to this traitor.
He even suspected that this must be someone Qi Liang had planted here, otherwise why would his side's information be cracked so quickly, while his side had made no progress at all.
Approaching Hou Lin, Lu Yuan looked at him and asked, "Is it all settled?"
The other person nodded, then bowed and scraped as they ushered Lu Yuan to a seat and placed the earphones to his ears.
"We found a radio station. It's not broadcasting yet, but we've cracked the code. It should be a signal coming from Taipingzhou!"
"Okay, then you're all settled!" After saying that, Lu Yuan brought the equipment on the table into the living room, and his family members immediately gathered around.
Xiao Shan helped her grandmother walk closer. Her grandmother had a hint of excitement on her face. She looked at the radio that Lu Yuan had placed on the table, and then at Lu Yuan himself.
"Xiao Yuan, is there a signal? What's it saying on the other end?"
Lu Yuan shook his head and smiled: "Grandma, don't worry. We've found the signal, but it's not time to start broadcasting yet. Let's sit here and wait, and chat for a while!"
The family members moved small stools and sat around in the warm living room, waiting for the radio signal to come again.
Time passed slowly, and the conversations among the group gradually subsided. They all hoped for a sound from the radio, and when the room fell silent, everyone grew quite anxious.
The radio emitted a hissing sound through two small speakers, and the only other sound in the room was the crackling of wood burning in the fire.
Lu Yuan glanced at the time; it was already five in the afternoon, which was basically lunchtime. However, his family and Zhou Tong were sitting in front of him, but they didn't seem to be planning to eat.
Six o'clock had passed again when the sound from the radio suddenly became clearer.
Then a melodious tune came from inside. Upon hearing the music, everyone tensed up, straightened their backs, and pricked up their ears to listen.
After the melodious music ended, a sweet female voice came from inside.
"Good evening, everyone. It's 6 PM in the post-apocalyptic world. The radio station is broadcasting to you on time. Today's content mainly concerns the recent weather and the delivery schedule and location of the third batch of personnel from the new underground fortress. This is the third broadcast for you. Please take notes and memorize today's content!"
