Chapter 443 You've Been Fired

The night finally ended, and it was time for the day shift again.

Lu Yuan hadn't slept for a day and a night, and the heavy labor had left him looking dull and lifeless. Although he occasionally ate some golden fruits to replenish his energy, he discovered that the golden fruits didn't always restore him to peak physical condition immediately after eating them.

This golden fruit is like medicine. The first time you eat it, the effect may be very obvious, and the effect may be similar the second time. However, if you eat it for many years, your body will develop a serious resistance to the drug. At that time, taking this medicine will basically have no effect on the condition.

Although golden fruit is not a medicine and has no side effects from eating too much, it has become less effective now, especially after continuous consumption, where the effect decreases sharply.

"Phew! Damn! There's still so much! I wonder if I can finish it today!"

Lu Yuan looked up at the pit in the distance, then turned to look at the paved area behind him. Although he felt a little proud, he couldn't feel happy.

Suddenly, someone patted him on the shoulder, and Lu Yuan was almost knocked to the ground by the slap.

"Lu Yuan, don't tell me you were working all night?"

"Yeah, that's right. We've been working all night! We're just afraid we won't finish the work! If that happens, none of us might be able to get back!"

Zhou Tong sighed and then handed him a cigarette.

"Have a smoke, go back and get some rest! We'll take care of things here!"

Lu Yuan lit a cigarette but shook his head: "No, I can't leave! I have to stay!"

"Are you fucking crazy?! You've been working for a whole day and night, do you even care about your life?! Do you really think you're Superman?!"

Zhou Tong's voice carried an air of unyielding authority, once again displaying the same drive he had shown as a former special forces instructor.

"I order you to go back and rest immediately! Get a good night's sleep! Leave this to us!"

“But…” Lu Yuan hesitated.

Because he truly saw himself as a superman, as the hope of everyone here, even though it was tiring, he felt it was all worth it if he succeeded.

"But what?! Don't act like you're not a human being all the time! You're not livestock, even the donkeys in the production team wouldn't dare to work this hard!"

"Haha! Holy crap! You're calling me a donkey?"

Lu Yuan immediately burst out laughing.

Zhou Tong grabbed him and pulled him up impatiently: "Let's go! Don't waste our work time! Go back and get some sleep! Save your energy before you come back!"

Lu Yuan nodded, stubbed out his cigarette, and suddenly seemed to have an epiphany.

That's right, I'm a human being, not a donkey from the production team!

Having figured all this out, Lu Yuan grabbed the rope and climbed up. Along the way, he saw the two people from Group Three pulling the cart. The two were struggling to pull the cart, their faces still showing resentment.

However, he was stunned when he saw Lu Yuan's tired appearance.

"Did he work all night?"

"Shh! Keep your voice down! Who is he? Who are we? We eat different things, do you really feel sorry for him?"

"No, it's just... never mind, let's get to work!"

One person lowered his head and pulled the car forward again with all his might, as if something in his heart had been touched.

Back at his lodgings, Lu Yuan lay down on the bed in his tent and fell fast asleep.

In his dream, he seemed to be leading people into an underground fortress, where there were tall buildings everywhere, the streets were bustling with activity, cars were flowing by, and people's faces were full of smiles.

Suddenly, a familiar figure reappeared. It was Gu Wenzhong, whose face still wore that smug look. Lu Yuan was about to chase after him, but Gu Wenzhong sneered and his figure gradually disappeared from the spot.

"Boom!"

A loud bang came from the ground in the distance.

Lu Yuan jolted awake and sat up abruptly, his body and head covered in sweat.

"What happened? Where did the explosion occur?"

Xiao Shan spilled the soup bowl from her hand onto the ground and looked outside in a panic at the place where the explosion had occurred.

"I don't know! It seems to be... near our entrance/exit!"

"What?"

Lu Yuan didn't even bother to put on his clothes and ran out barefoot.

The aftershocks of the explosion were still audible on the ground. Although it was pitch black outside, the echoes of the explosion continued to reverberate toward the exit of the underground fortress.

"Damn it! Quick! Go check how much is left unfinished!"

Lu Yuan didn't care whether it was Xiao Shan or not. He quickly gave an order, went back to his room, hurriedly put on his clothes and boots, and looked down at the time.

"I slept for five hours! Holy crap... weren't there still four hours left? How come it's so early?"

Lu Yuan paced back and forth like an ant on a hot pan. Finally, he remembered someone.

So he quickened his pace and ran towards the logistics department.

"Lu Yuan? Why are you awake so soon?"

Kong Hanting, who was helping Deng Yuanyuan treat the injured, looked at Lu Yuan, who was panting heavily, and asked.

"Stop with all that! Put it aside! There's something I need you to do!"

Seeing Lu Yuan's urgency, Kong Hanting immediately put down the gauze in her hand and wiped the blood off her hands on her clothes.

What do you need me to do?

"You're good at skiing, aren't you? Go check the exit of the underground fortress right now! Is the exit blocked?"

"Okay! I'll go right away!"
