Chapter 464 Fortress Leakage

When the workers saw Lu Yuan standing outside in a daze, they quickly tried to comfort him.

"I'm Brother Lu. Don't get caught in the rain outside. This rainwater contains a lot of radioactive dust. Getting too wet isn't good for you!"

"Yes, let's go back quickly. The temperature will drop after the rain stops, and if your clothes get wet, you'll easily catch a cold. There's really no way to cure a cold then!"

"Yes, the trucks can't get in now, so we can finally take a break. You should also take a break now, you're so busy all day long!"

Lu Yuan smiled at the other person: "It's nothing, I was just taking a look!"

Then Lu Yuan withdrew his hand and joined the others in chatting and bragging. Some people even found paper and pens and made a deck of cards to play nearby. Although there were no stakes, everyone still had a great time.

The heavy rain continued until 10 p.m. before it started to gradually subside. Although the weather forecast said the rain would stop at 10 p.m., it was still drizzling outside after 10 p.m., but not as heavily as before. Lu Yuan was puzzled.

With nothing else to do, I went to Long San's office again. I saw that he was changing his clothes in the room, completely soaked. When he saw Lu Yuan come in, he didn't try to hide it at all.

"Holy crap, how come you're not wet?" Long San turned his head and glanced at Lu Yuan's completely dry clothes, somewhat puzzled.

Lu Yuan gently shook the raincoat hanging outside the door.

"Going out without a raincoat, aren't you afraid of catching a cold?"

Seeing the raincoat in Lu Yuan's hand, Long San was stunned: "Good heavens, you even brought a raincoat! You don't eat or stay here, and you're carrying so much stuff. Where did you get this raincoat? I don't even have one!"

Lu Yuan glanced at the other person, then tossed the raincoat onto the table: "If you were Xiwen, I could give it to you! I have another set of this raincoat, you can keep it for now!"

The other person walked over wearing only shorts, looked at the raincoat, and couldn't help but sigh, "Wow, this raincoat was made before the apocalypse, the quality is so good!"

Lu Yuan lit a cigarette, sat by the window, and looked out. The window was blurred by raindrops, making it impossible to see the outside world clearly.

"What's going on with this rain? Wasn't it supposed to stop at ten o'clock? It's almost eleven now, and it's still not stopping?"

Long San shook his head: "Who knew the rain would last so long! I guess the dust in the air hasn't been cleared yet, which is why it's been raining for so long!"

"Logically, there should be a warning, but there hasn't been one. It's just been raining like this. Who will be responsible if someone gets sick from the rain?"

"I don't know about that. You'll have to ask the people in charge of weather control!"

The two sat in the room chatting idly. After a while, a tall, burly man rushed in, his face covered in sweat and mud.

"Big guy, why are you covered in mud? Go outside and get it off!"

Seeing the large footprints left on the freshly cleaned floor, Long San couldn't help but frown.

The big guy, looking embarrassed, quickly left the door, took off all his clothes and hung them near the windowsill, then walked in barefoot. However, due to the slippery floor, he almost tripped and fell.

"How's the drainage ditch over there coming along?" Long San asked, flicking a cigarette at the big guy who was drying his hair.

The other person took the cigarette and lit it with trembling hands: "Still working on it, but the amount of silt is just too much. Now we have to clean the drain outlet from time to time, otherwise it will cause a blockage!"

"Too much silt is clogging the drain? No way! There's a lot of dust on the road, but it's impossible for it to clog all the water, right?" Long San's heart sank, and he immediately thought of what Lu Yuan had told him yesterday.

After taking a drag of his cigarette, Big Guy nodded: "Brother Long, that's true. I don't know why, but the rain was mixed with mud as it fell down. Actually, the mud on my body wasn't from stepping on the ground, but from being carried out by the rain!"

"Huh? The rainwater is mixed with mud? How is that possible?" Long San looked outside in disbelief.

Sure enough, small mounds of earth formed on the ground, the water was very turbid, and in some places even mudflats had accumulated. The cement road surface had turned into a yellow expanse.

"There might be a problem above the underground fortress!" Lu Yuan frowned, then pointed upwards, took an iron basin, and threw it outside to collect rainwater.

"Try it and you'll see!"

Long San's eyes showed a hint of surprise. After looking at the big guy, he finally couldn't help but ask, "Don't tell me you were behind this. You promised me you'd tell me beforehand!"

Looking at Long San's anxious face, Lu Yuan couldn't help but sigh: "You really think too highly of me. I'd like to control this weather!"

"What? You're saying you didn't do these things?"

"Nonsense! I don't even know which way the meteorological department's door faces. Do you think I can control the rain? Besides, even if I knew where they were, would they listen to me?"

"Then... what's going on outside?" Long San pointed outside.

"The rain is still pouring down. If this continues, District Nine will definitely be flooded!"

Lu Yuan chuckled and said, "Isn't this even better? Heaven is on our side. If District Nine is flooded, then you'd better be prepared to take it back!"
