In the afternoon, Lu Yuan arrived at Group Seven.
Upon arrival, a young man who was packing his luggage was somewhat surprised to see Lu Yuan enter.
What do you do?
Lu Yuan looked around. The environment around Group Seven was alright, but everyone's expression was very strange.
They looked like people preparing to die, each with an impatient expression on their face, as if they had no intention of staying any longer.
"Oh, I'm here to report for duty!"
After speaking, Lu Yuan took out his work ID and handed it to the other person.
The young man was somewhat surprised, and took Lu Yuan's work ID and glanced at it.
"Huh? Tian Zhiguang? I didn't hear that our Group Seven has new members again!"
"Oh! The notice was just issued this morning. Why don't you go ask your group about it!"
The other person stared at Lu Yuan again: "Are you sure you're here for Group Seven? Don't you know what Group Seven does?"
"I know a little! But not much! What's wrong?"
"Alright! Looks like you still don't know! Let me tell you! Our team leader just went out to collect supplies! He'll probably be back in a bit!"
After saying that, the other person pointed to the stool next to them: "Sit down! Don't be shy! I'm afraid you won't want to stay here any longer after I finish speaking!"
Lu Yuan smiled, then sat down in a chair to see what the other person had to say.
The young man lit a cigarette and said quietly, "Groups one through seven are all suicide squads selected this time! The main task is to enter the ant nest and clear the blocked areas!"
"You've seen mutant termites before, haven't you?"
Lu Yuan nodded: "I've seen it! Very impressive!"
"Yes! That's right! Mutant termites are a species that is entirely harmful and has no benefits whatsoever. They are truly the greatest nemesis of underground fortresses!"
After saying that, the other person flicked his cigarette ash, looked at Lu Yuan, and continued to ask, "Since you already know, why did you still come here?"
Lu Yuan smiled and said, "I had no choice, I was forced into it!"
"Huh? Who forced you? The suicide squad members all participate voluntarily! The death allowance is quite high! Are you here for that death allowance too?"
Lu Yuan shook his head: "What a joke, I'm perfectly fine now, why would I want to die!"
"That settles it!"
The other person sat up straight, looked at Lu Yuan, and continued, "Since you know it's dangerous here, why did you come? Everyone here is here voluntarily! If you're not prepared, you can leave!"
Lu Yuan shook his head nonchalantly: "Who said going in would definitely mean death! I just want to see what's going on inside the ant nest! Of course, I'd be happy to live if I can!"
Then Lu Yuan checked the time: "When will the team depart?"
"Eight o'clock tonight! We might have a meal to mark the end of the journey later! You really don't need to get involved! Everyone knows this mission is a death mission! If you go, you'd better be mentally prepared!"
"Haha! Don't try to persuade me! Maybe we'll both come back safely! By the way, if we come back safely, will we not get the death benefit?"
"Of course there's no death bonus if you come back safely! That's too unlucky! You'll get a generous reward if you come back alive! But I hope you won't hold our Group Seven back! We've all already participated in the training!"
After he finished speaking, a hint of pride flashed in the other person's eyes, which surprised Lu Yuan.
These people are already prepared to die, yet they still think they are superior to others. It seems they have been severely brainwashed!
The two chatted casually, with Lu Yuan engaging in conversation only intermittently. He would talk more about topics that interested him and give perfunctory responses to those that didn't.
Fortunately, the other party was very talkative, and Lu Yuan learned from the conversation that these people had actually started training in teamwork from the very beginning.
These people were actually organized by the Long Group. Their leader was said to be a very powerful person, but the other party did not know his name. In any case, the previous grueling training was still fresh in their minds.
After talking for a while, the leader of Group Seven returned with a group of people.
Behind them was a huge trailer, piled high with all sorts of items and food.
"Brothers! Help unload the cargo! We're having a big meal tonight!"
"Oh! Great! Fantastic! We've finally waited for this!"
"Haha! Damn! I haven't had a proper meal in ages! I'm going to have a good, hearty meal these next few nights!"
"Eat well before you hit the road! I can't wait for this moment! Hurry up and come on!"
"..."
The crowd clamored and rushed over to help.
The young man looked at Lu Yuan, then gently patted him on the shoulder: "Brother, you still have a chance to leave! I'll go help first!"
Lu Yuan nodded, then got up and followed the other person.
The leader of Group Seven was a man with a full beard, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, and a weathered look on his face. His voice was slightly hoarse when he spoke.
Lu Yuan walked up to the other person.
"You must be Captain Chu?"
The other person nodded, then looked Lu Yuan up and down: "What do you do?"
"Oh! I'm Tian Zhiguang, a new member from Group Seven!"
After speaking, Lu Yuan handed over the documents in his hand. The other person glanced at them and looked at Lu Yuan with some surprise.
