Chapter 642 Independent Operations

Upon hearing Lu Yuan's words, Zhou Keke swallowed hard.

He had come prepared to die, but after seeing Lu Yuan, he suddenly didn't want to die anymore; the will to survive had taken over.

"Okay! I'll urge them right away! You don't need to go!"

Lu Yuan understood Zhou Keke's meaning. After all, Lu Yuan was just a team member, and his temper wasn't the best. If he really got into another argument with Wang Zhen, it would be troublesome. The most urgent thing now was to get the logistics vehicles to catch up as soon as possible. The situation at the front was quite urgent. Once the flamethrower team ran out of fuel, all the termites inside would rush over.

They had to take a gamble and wipe out all the termites behind their nests, otherwise they would pose an even greater threat to the convoy.

Lu Yuan nodded: "Alright! I'm too lazy to deal with this bastard now! You go keep an eye on things! I'll check the cars behind!"

So Zhou Keke and Lu Yuan parted ways. Lu Yuan checked the car nearby to make sure everything was alright, and then looked up at the cave above his head.

The top of the cave was swarming with termites, and every now and then these termites would fall down, hitting the ground with a "plop" sound.

I looked around with a flashlight and found that apart from the rock layer that had been overrun by termites, there was nothing else unusual.

Lu Yuan had no choice but to give up the inspection. At that moment, the sound of an engine starting could be heard in the distance.

Zhou Keke ran over quickly: "Brother, the tires are changed! We can go!"

"Okay! Then hurry up and follow them. Tell the driver to be extremely careful of the road conditions!"

"Yes! I've already explained it!"

So, Lu Yuan and Zhou Keke grabbed the railing of a tanker truck and followed the convoy as it drove off in the distance.

Hesitant and worried that the car's tires would be punctured by the stalagmites on the ground again, the driver slowed down considerably this time.

After Lu Yuan's repeated urging, the car finally arrived at the Ant Nest.

The termites burned by the flamethrower had created thick smoke in the vicinity. Although he was wearing a protective mask, Lu Yuan still felt the pungent smell of smoke rising into his mouth and nose.

The others also started coughing violently.

Lu Yuan jumped out of the car and followed Zhou Keke to Chu Jialin, who was checking the remaining fuel.

Upon seeing Lu Yuan and Zhou Keke return, a hint of joy immediately appeared on his face.

"How's it going? Have the support vehicles arrived yet?"

Lu Yuan nodded: "It's right behind us!"

"Well done!"

After saying that, Chu Jialin looked at Lu Yuan, then patted Lu Yuan lightly on the shoulder, and then ran off.

Seeing the slow-moving logistics staff, Chu Jialin finally unleashed his pent-up anger.

He pointed at Wang Zhen's nose and cursed, "You fucking bastard! The car tires are flat, what were your men doing? Do you know you almost killed us all! You bastard!"

After being scolded by Chu Jialin, Wang Zhen glared at him with a dark expression: "Chu Jialin! Watch your tone! I'm the team leader too, you have no right to talk to me like that!"

Upon hearing Wang Zhen's reply, Chu Jialin could no longer contain his anger. Hundreds of people had almost died here because of this idiot logistics team leader's fear. How could he not be angry?

Then Chu Jialin stepped forward and grabbed Wang Zhen by the collar, then swung his right fist and smashed it hard into the other man's face.

With a "crack," Chu Jialin smashed Wang Zhen's protective mask with a punch.

Wang Zhen panicked for a moment and was about to retaliate when he kicked himself in the stomach.

Wang Zhen felt a tightness in his chest from the kick and could no longer muster the desire to fight Chu Jialin.

He knew he was no match for Chu Jialin. If his protective suit were torn, he might die among the termites.

The thought of swarms of termites crawling through the gaps in his protective suit and gnawing at his flesh and internal organs filled Wang Zhen with dread.

Chu Jialin felt much better after beating the man up. Then he looked at Wang Zhen and said, "If I ever see you, you coward, dragging me down again, I'll cripple you!"

Wang Zhen remained silent, his eyes filled with hatred and resentment.

Then Wang Zhen straightened his clothes and, finding no damage, began leading his men to provide support.

With the fuel tanker's resupply, the flamethrower team's situation improved significantly. They no longer needed to worry about anything and raised the muzzle of their flamethrowers again. The intense flames licked at the constantly charging termites, and a thick layer of termite corpses had already accumulated on the ground.

Finally, half an hour later, the person in charge of observation noticed that the termites on the other side seemed to have reduced their attack.

After confirming the situation, everyone stopped using their flamethrowers.

Looking at the thick layer of charred termite corpses covering the ground, everyone felt a sense of disbelief and great relief that they had survived.

However, Chu Jialin suddenly said, "Everyone, don't be careless. We've only just entered the first ant nest. There are many more nests waiting for us! So we must not be careless! Although the soldier ants have been basically wiped out, who knows if there are any other flying ants inside? So from now on, put away your carelessness and be careful. I hope we can all get back alive! Understand?"
