Lu Yuan chuckled along with everyone, but secretly felt relieved.
The brief and uninteresting welcoming ceremony ended there, and the man in leather shoes introduced himself.
The other party's name is Zhao Zhen. He was originally an engineer at the arsenal, but due to the reorganization of Panlong Company, all of his superiors were transferred to the middle management.
So he naturally became the manager of the arsenal.
Although it's called an arsenal, it doesn't actually produce any guns or ammunition. The main reason is that resources are extremely scarce in the underground bunker, and the materials needed for the ammunition were exhausted long ago.
Their arsenal had been responsible for maintaining weapons and ammunition for a long time. At first, Zhao Zhen's work was quite busy, but due to the continuous outbreak of various battles in the urban area, the consumption of ammunition here was enormous.
By now, the ammunition left in his arsenal wasn't much either, so his work had become relatively easier.
What Zhao Zhen finds most distressing is that the arsenal, which originally had more than 2,000 employees, has been continuously laid off due to the reduction in ammunition. Now, he only has about 30 employees left.
These thirty-odd people are responsible for maintaining nearly 100,000 guns, so their work has become exceptionally demanding.
Zhao Zhen handed a list to a tall, thin man: "This is the list of guns you'll be sending over for maintenance later. Take some men and bring them over!"
The tall, thin man nodded, then looked at the busy crowd: "Um... you new guy! Come with me!"
Lu Yuan turned to look at the other person, then immediately stood up. He didn't want to waste his time on such boring work; going with the other person to retrieve the gun was a very easy task.
So, Lu Yuan followed the other man back to where he had come from. Each of them was pulling a hydraulic trailer. The other man didn't say much along the way, only exchanging a few casual words.
Upon arriving at the armory, the other person said to Lu Yuan, "Hey, newbie! You wait here! I'll come and get you in a bit!"
Lu Yuan nodded and then stood in front of the checkpoint.
The surrounding lights were dim, and there weren't many people around. It seemed to be during shift change, so there were hardly any people inside.
Occasionally, a couple of people going to the toilet would pass by here, after all, this is an armory, which is considered a relatively important place.
Lu Yuan stood there silently waiting, glancing at his phone every now and then.
It's already past 9:40 in the morning, and Lu Yuan has been up from the 170th floor for 40 minutes.
"Phew! Looks like I need to finish this mission quickly! I wonder how many weapons there are here!"
Standing there was boring. Apart from the two people in the duty room who were whispering and laughing, they were obviously very interested in the oil on Lu Yuan's face.
Lu Yuan ignored them and stood there quietly waiting.
Suddenly, the bell above his head rang, and Lu Yuan couldn't help but look up.
The two people on duty immediately relaxed a lot.
"Finally off work! I can go home and get some sleep!"
"Yes! After we finish dealing with this batch of guns, we should hear good news from Boss Luo's side by this time tomorrow morning!"
"Haha! I really can't wait! I heard we can get a lot of delicious food!"
"Those people from the arsenal are really something. Why did they have to come during shift change? They're wasting our time!"
Then the shorter man shouted at Lu Yuan, "Hurry up! Don't waste our time!"
Lu Yuan nodded slightly, thinking to himself, "I want to hurry up too!"
A short while later, footsteps were heard inside, and the two people on duty immediately took out their notebooks and went over.
"I suspect you deliberately waited until our shift change to collect your weapons! Be more mindful of the timing next time!"
The man who brought Lu Yuanlai grinned and said, "Next time, I'll make sure to use the toilet properly, thus delaying your rest time!"
"Damn it! You bitch!"
"Haha! You're the jerk! New here! Coming to move some stuff!"
Lu Yuan responded and then walked across the cordon.
The staff on duty checked him and then let him go.
Lu Yuan followed the other party into a huge warehouse inside.
The warehouse is much better than the outside. The air here is very dry and there is no unpleasant smell, except that the smell of gun oil is a bit strong.
Then the other person pointed to the mountain of various weapons and ammunition behind him and said, "You're pretty big! You go ahead and do this! I'm going to the bathroom!"
Lu Yuan could only shrug at this veteran who liked to bully newcomers; he also hoped the other party wouldn't disturb his work.
The other person walked away from the warehouse, leaving Lu Yuan alone inside.
Lu Yuan looked around and, after confirming that no one was there, immediately walked to the pile of weapons and ammunition that were scattered haphazardly.
The weapons and ammunition here are of a wide variety, and most of them appear to have been neglected for a long time.
Lu Yuan suddenly remembered the conversation between the two people on duty. They said they should receive Lorraine's good news by this time tomorrow, which meant that Lorraine would definitely take some action today. As for what that action was, their only enemy now was Chen Yan. So Lu Yuan immediately understood why the arsenal was maintaining its weapons. It was obviously to prepare for today's battle.
