Lorraine's plan to destroy the building was completely thwarted.
Standing at the foot of the building, looking at the crumbling structure, Lu Yuan was filled with emotion.
"I've saved another million people in one go. Damn it, it seems the title of savior must be mine."
Lu Yuan chuckled self-deprecatingly. He had never thought of being a savior, but he had saved so many people time and time again.
If I am not a savior, then it seems that no one else is worthy of the title.
Sporadic gunshots could still be heard from above the building, mixed with shouts and the sound of people falling into the water.
Lu Yuan was finally able to relax and slowly climb upwards.
I had barely finished two floors when the phone rang again.
This time, Chen Yan's voice was no longer filled with panic, but rather with a hint of a smile, and her tone was much more relaxed.
"Lu Yuan, thank you for rescuing these people. I thank you on their behalf."
"Haha, you're welcome. It's what I should do. As a savior, it seems I've already done what I needed to do."
"The people of Lorraine have been completely driven back by us. Where are you now? Do you need us to bring someone to pick you up?"
"No need. Let's take one last look at this urban area. I want to clear my head. We'll go upstairs in a bit. While we're up there, please take care of things as quickly as possible and wait for me to return."
"Okay, no problem. Enjoy your time. I'll organize the evacuation immediately. This building doesn't seem to hold out much longer, so be careful."
"Hmm, the overpass looks fine to me. You guys should take your people and evacuate from the overpass now!"
"Okay, the retreat is already underway!"
Then, a flashlight beam shone from above the overpass, shining in Lu Yuan's direction. Lu Yuan didn't know whether it was Chen Yan shining it on him or not.
He raised his hand and waved his arms upwards twice. The people above seemed to see him, and then a shout came from above, seemingly saying thank you!
Then the people above started shouting thank you, their voices growing louder and louder until Lu Yuan could hear them clearly. Countless flashlights were flashing overhead like fireflies.
Lu Yuan was also filled with excitement. He hadn't thought much about rescuing the five million people before, but now that he had saved this million people, he had gained so much fame.
Lu Yuan didn't know if he could lead them to survive indefinitely.
He clenched his fist gently and continued upwards, the shaking of the building caused by the explosion still ongoing.
However, the shaking was much less intense than when the explosion first occurred, which relieved Lu Yuan.
He quickened his pace and continued upstairs. The chaotic footsteps and shouts could still be heard throughout the building, and Lu Yuan knew that people were evacuating.
When he reached more than a hundred floors, Lu Yuan finally stopped. He was panting heavily as he stood in front of a floor-to-ceiling window that no longer had protective glass and glanced at the entire urban area.
"I never imagined that I would have achieved this level in less than a year! I never dared to dream of it!"
Lu Yuan stood by the window, unable to resist taking out a cigarette and putting it to his lips. After thinking for a moment, he ultimately decided not to light it.
Looking at the pitch-black urban area, Lu Yuan felt a mix of emotions. This disaster was not caused by nature, but by the idiots in the middle layer of the city.
If it weren't for the foolish things that Long Yue did, the underground fortress would still be peaceful, even though everyone is still working hard and is very tired.
But at least he could continue to live a good life. Lu Yuan knew that this situation would not last long. If Long Yue hadn't forced him, Lu Yuan might have taken his family and friends away from the underground fortress and gone out into the world to live a better life.

So they quickened their pace again and finally met up with Chen Yan's group nearly two hours later. They had now arrived at another building.
When they saw Lu Yuan again, everyone lined the street to welcome him, clapping their hands enthusiastically. Lu Yuan walked up the crowd as if he were surrounded by stars, and everyone looked at him with the most respectful and grateful eyes as he passed through each floor.
At this moment, Lu Yuan suddenly felt a much heavier burden on his shoulders. He knew that once he accepted these people, his life would undergo tremendous changes.
However, Lu Yuan still considers himself to be just a nobody.
He simply possessed an extraordinary dimensional crystal, and the space within that crystal granted him the ability to save people.
Chen Yan and several key figures from various floors stood at the far end of the crowd, watching Lu Yuan receive the welcome from the crowd, their eyes filled with smiles.
"Thank you, thank you so much! You saved us all!"
"Lu Yuan, I always thought of you as a wanted criminal, and I'm ashamed of that thought. I hope you can forgive me!"
