Lu Yuan breathed a sigh of relief, then carefully crawled out of the pit and shone his flashlight forward.
The monster seemed to have lost interest in the people in the crevice and slowly turned and left.
Lu Yuan then mustered up his courage and walked forward. The ground was covered with a sticky liquid that looked like glue. When he stepped on it, he felt his boots sticking to it and making a "pop pop pop" sound.
"Phew! I'm so nervous! I wonder if this monster did this on purpose!"
Finally, Lu Yuan reached the edge of the crevice. His teammates held their breath, carrying the boxes containing the giant pythons one by one.
Lu Yuan took two more steps forward and finally reached the end of the crevice.
Lu Yuan hadn't seen where the monster lived yet, so he carefully took out a flashlight and shone it inside.
All around was pitch black, with occasional noises that could be heard from inside.
Lu Yuan followed the sound and saw a huge termite queen lying on the ground in the distance. The termite queen was enormous, with a body more than 30 meters long that almost occupied the space of a large pit. There were no termites in the pit, but there were countless termite eggs on the ground.
These termite eggs are much larger than goose eggs, almost the size of ostrich eggs.
Lu Yuan could hardly believe how big the termites would be if the termite eggs inside hatched.
"Damn it! This place is too dangerous! If all these termite eggs hatch, it'll probably be another disaster!"
Lu Yuan held his breath and shone the light again into the distance. He saw traces of termites about a hundred meters away, though the queen termite wasn't as large as the one in front of him.
Although they weren't as big as the monster, they were still over ten meters long, which made Lu Yuan's heart pound with fear.
He roughly counted the termites inside and found that there were only about a dozen termite queens, while he had brought a total of twenty giant pythons from the dimensional space.
So Lu Yuan waved behind him, and his team members immediately brought over a box containing a giant python.
"Put it here! We'll deal with the rest later. Let's see if the queen termite likes this big guy first!"
Next, Lu Yuan reached out and gently dragged the box to the front, which was the very front of the crack, a platform about half a meter higher than where the termites lived.
Lu Yuan held a flashlight in one hand, shining it on the termites resting in the distance, while gently pulling the giant python's body out of the box with the other.
Chen Yan and the others had made it clear beforehand that once these giant pythons came out of the box, their skin would begin to rot at a visible speed.
Therefore, Lu Yuan didn't have much time left, and he had to find a way to get the termite queen to eat the giant python as soon as possible.
So he quickly shouted to the people behind him, "Move in! Don't block the entrance!"
So everyone retreated to a safe spot, their eyes fixed on Lu Yuan's direction, their hearts pounding with tension.
After Lu Yuan dragged the giant python out completely, he placed it on the stone platform, then took out his pistol from his waist and fired several shots at the termite queen.
Sure enough, after being attacked, the termite queen roared in Lu Yuan's direction, and then her huge body began to wriggle toward him.
Seeing the queen ant heading in his direction, Lu Yuan felt a surge of excitement.
"It all hinges on this! I hope we succeed!"
So Lu Yuan quickly hid in a safe spot behind, leaving only a motionless giant python behind.
A few minutes later, the termite queen finally arrived at the platform. She immediately smelled the python nearby. Since the termite queen has no eyes, she relies on the long hairs on her body and her sense of smell to identify the smell and type of objects.
In order to pique the interest of the termite queen in the giant python, the laboratory staff specially applied a large amount of the python's mucus to its body; this mucus had a very strong odor.
Sure enough, under everyone's watchful eyes, the monster finally found the giant python's location. Without a second thought, it lowered its head, opened its gaping maw, and swallowed the python whole.
Seeing the monster devour the giant python, which was a third the size of its body, as if it were noodles, Lu Yuan breathed a sigh of relief.
However, the termite queen, after eating the giant python, showed no immediate reaction. She spat out a few more mouthfuls of sticky liquid into the cave before swaying away from the crevice.
So Lu Yuan and his companions mustered their courage and went over, adjusting the flashlight beam to diffused light so as not to attract the monster's attention.
The monster lying in the crater seemed somewhat unsatisfied, its mouth agape for a long time before finally closing.
Then it lay down in the pit, and with a twist of its rear end, it kept spewing out round termite eggs.
Holy crap! So many?
In less than ten minutes, a crater was filled with termite eggs, and the monster's belly finally flattened out.
