Upon arrival, they found that the vanguard team had already secured the site where the footprints were.
Upon seeing Lu Yuan arrive with his men, the captain of the vanguard team immediately came over.
"Mr. Lu, come and take a look! We still can't identify what kind of monster left these footprints! In any case, they weren't left by humans!"
After saying that, the other person pointed to the spot in front of them.
Lu Yuan stood still and looked in the direction the other person was pointing: "How many footprints were found in total?"
"The footprints covered a distance of about one kilometer! But they disappeared after we reached the front! I don't know what happened!"
Lu Yuan nodded and followed the other person in the direction of the footprints.
Upon arrival, they indeed saw a series of footprints left in the middle of the crowd.
The footprints were very large, covering an area of about one square meter, and it was clear at a glance that they were left by a very large creature.
Moreover, the overall shape of the footprint is triangular, with three front toes and one back toe, very much like the footprint left by an animal such as a lizard, and it does not appear to have been left by a human.
After squatting down and observing for a moment, Lu Yuan asked the team members beside him, "Has the biology team arrived yet?"
Just then, a rustling sound came from behind: "They're here! They're here! Let me see!"
Then a man wearing a thick cotton coat squeezed into the crowd.
Lu Yuan stood up and handed over the area next to the footprints to the other person.
The other party didn't stand on ceremony and immediately took out a bunch of instruments from their backpack to analyze the footprint.
While analyzing the situation, the other party was muttering to themselves.
"Judging from the shape of this footprint, it was left by a four-limbed animal, and it looks like a reptile, somewhat similar to a prehistoric dinosaur..."
"Based on the depth of the footprints, this monster is enormous and very heavy, probably weighing around thirty tons! Of course, if it were running, its weight might decrease slightly, but it would still be at least fifteen tons..."
"Based on the length between these footprints, we can roughly estimate that this monster was about fifteen meters long! And its limbs were extremely well-developed! It was adept at long-distance running..."
The crowd listened to his explanation and nodded repeatedly.
Finally, when the other person reached the end of the footprints, they adjusted their glasses and paused, looking surprised.
Where are the footprints?
The vanguard team members shrugged: "The footprints are gone! They stop here!"
The biologist was stunned for a moment: "That's all? No way! Could it be..."
After saying that, a look of surprise appeared on the other person's face: "Could it be...could it be that this monster has wings?"
Lu Yuan was taken aback upon hearing this, and walked over to look at the other person: "Do you have any deductions?"
"Look, the distance from the start of the footprints to this place is only about one kilometer! For a huge monster with wings, that's a perfect running distance! After all, it's really not easy for such a heavy creature to take flight!"
Lu Yuan frowned as he looked at the other person: "Isn't it strange that such a huge monster could grow in such a cold place?"
The biologist gave a helpless smile: "Mr. Lu, have you forgotten about the termites? These termites can grow this big just by living in rock layers! So there's nothing strange about it! Biological growth is a mystery these days!"
Lu Yuan rubbed his temples helplessly: "Damn, does this mean Darwin's theory of evolution is going to be overturned?"
The other person shrugged: "Maybe! After all, this is the apocalypse! Anything can happen!"
Lu Yuan could only sigh helplessly, "Fine! Let's just leave it at that then! Is there anything else you need to add?"
The other person thought for a moment, then pointed ahead: "This monster's destination should be just ahead! We might need to be careful from now on! Hopefully, this monster won't eat people!"
"Yes, Vice Captain! Give the order now: everyone be on alert! There might be monsters lurking nearby! Also, notify the vanguard team to adjust their reporting frequency to once every ten minutes! Be extremely careful!"
"receive!"
The vice-captain standing to the side immediately nodded to Lu Yuan.
The group continued onward, but they found nothing unusual along the way, not even a single footprint.
In the midst of the icy snow, it seemed as if only these people existed.
Looking at the vast, endless world of ice and snow, Lu Yuan felt a sense of openness, but he also felt as if he had been abandoned by the whole world.
"When the hell will this ever end?!"
Lu Yuan couldn't help but curse under his breath.
I glanced at the time; we had been moving forward for over twenty hours, and apart from those strange footprints, we hadn't found any trace of humans along the way.
Lu Yuan shook his head with a self-deprecating laugh: "Forget it, in such a cold world, apart from the fortresses where there are survivors, it seems there really is nowhere else for people to survive!"
Just as I was about to tell the team members to stop and rest, a series of urgent shouts came from the walkie-talkie in my hand.
"Mr. Lu, a large rift valley has been discovered ahead! Our path is blocked!"
Upon hearing this voice, Lu Yuan paused for a moment, then immediately shouted into the walkie-talkie, "Okay! Got it! Be careful up ahead! We'll take the men over now!"
