Seeing the other person approaching, Lu Yuan's heart skipped a beat.
However, seeing the old priest's satisfied expression, Lu Yuan breathed a slight sigh of relief.
Then the other party walked up to Lu Yuan and said a few words softly. Fang Yuan, who was standing next to him, was filming and translating at the same time: "The High Priest just said that their secret can now be revealed to you. Now you need to go with him. I can also go with you as your translator. But Brother Zhou Tong cannot come with us."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Tong immediately became dissatisfied: "What's going on? What do you mean I can't come along? Are you looking down on me?"
Lu Yuan chuckled unkindly, "Haha, you've finally met your match! Serves you right for laughing at me! Alright, wait here for us and see if we can overhear any secrets."
Zhou Tong waved his hand helplessly, and Lu Yuan and Fang Yuan followed behind the old priest and walked in the distance.
This time, however, they went quite far. The two followed behind them for half an hour without the old priest stopping.
"Where is this old priest taking us? We've been walking for half an hour already!"
Fang Yuan also looked puzzled: "I don't know, should I ask?"
Lu Yuan thought for a moment, then waved his hand and said, "No need. We've already come all this way, why ask any more questions? Let's see what he can tell us, and then we can ask him whatever we want based on the situation on the spot."
Fang Yuan nodded slightly, occasionally filming the surrounding environment with her camera. Lu Yuan, however, was slightly curious and asked in a low voice, "When did you start recording this documentary?"
Fang Yuan thought for a moment: "It was many years ago. Originally, I planned to film all the disasters, but by the time I remembered it, the disasters had already started for a long time. I only started filming in the second year after the major disaster!"
Lu Yuan nodded slightly: "It's not too late. After all, the situation in the first year of the apocalypse wasn't as bad as we imagined. The second year was when the world began to experience great turmoil and chaos! Show us your documentary when the time comes!"
"Haha, of course! I've saved them all on my computer and made several backups to prevent them from being lost. It's also a good opportunity to witness how we've survived since the apocalypse began!"
The two chatted as they followed behind the old priest.
Finally, they reached the edge of a slope, and the old priest stopped.
Lu Yuan looked around curiously and saw that the snow around him had been almost completely cleared, revealing smooth stones on the ground.
The path twists and turns, seemingly leading deep into a cave.
Following behind the old priest, the two walked along the winding path. The priest held an oil lamp in his hand, the dim light only illuminating the path in front of him, while Lu Yuan took out a flashlight to help light the way.
After walking along this winding path for a few minutes, we finally arrived at a very deep and secluded cave.
The temperature inside the cave was slightly higher than outside. When the other party gently opened the cave door, a gust of hot air rushed in, mixed with a putrid smell, which made Lu Yuan and Fang Yuan cover their mouths and noses.
The old priest said something to the two of them without turning around, and Lu Yuan turned his head to look at Fang Yuan.
The other person translated, "The old priest means that this is their altar. Whenever someone dies, they are placed here. Now, people come here every day to worship and clean it!"
Lu Yuan nodded slightly, then followed the other person to stand in front of him.
The old priest took out a whisk-like object from the altar, swept it around, muttered incantations, squatted on the ground, and made gurgling noises.
Fang Yuan held the camera and filmed the room, then softly translated, "The old priest is telling these deceased people about you. He describes you as a god of war, and you hold a very high position in their hearts!"
"Oh, I see. By the way, when will it end? I'm starting to feel like asking him questions!"
"Don't worry, we should be there soon!"
Lu Yuan could only nod helplessly and stand behind the other person, looking back and forth at the altar.
In the center of the altar were many straws. Fang Yuan said that these straws represented the spirits of their deceased people. What intrigued Lu Yuan was that grass could grow in such a cold environment. It seemed that they must have some secret in this place.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, the old priest slowly opened his eyes, got up and came to Lu Yuan's side.
As Fang Yuan listened to the old priest's words, she translated for Lu Yuan: "The high priest said that the reason they have been able to survive until now is mainly because their ancestors predicted this endless disaster a long time ago!"
"Furthermore, they warned their own people, asking them to report the matter to the authorities. However, after their message was spread, they received no response. It was clear that outsiders did not believe their plans and regarded them as people spreading rumors!"
As Fang Yuan gently translated, she filmed the old priest, who was sitting on the ground with his body hunched over and his head bowed, seemingly recalling the past. Lu Yuan stood quietly to the side, listening intently.
However, Lu Yuan was extremely shocked, because they had already predicted everything from the extremely hot weather caused by the Earth's rotation at the beginning, to the floods, global earthquakes, and the severe cold season that followed.
