The plane quickly landed in a relatively spacious and safe location.
At this moment, the communication had not yet ended, and Freeman was still fleeing from the pursuit of the soldiers of the United States.
"We have now landed 30 kilometers east of the village! You have two hours to get here!"
Zhou Tong translated Lu Yuan's words. After listening, Freeman pondered for a moment, then looked at his assistants beside him. They were all exhausted, and his own legs felt like they were filled with lead, so he couldn't run anymore.
"Sir, we...we might not be able to get there in two hours."
In the end, Freeman felt that he might not be able to complete the task and told Lu Yuan about his situation.
After listening, Lu Yuan turned to look at Zhou Tong: "Isn't a speed of 30 kilometers per hour in two hours a bit too difficult?"
Zhou Tong smiled helplessly: "Of course, if it were us, running 30 kilometers in two hours shouldn't be a problem. But don't forget, these people just escaped from the concentration camp and were injured. Their physical strength is almost exhausted. It's basically impossible for them to run 30 kilometers in two hours!"
Lu Yuan pondered for a moment: "Let's go back the way they came and see if we can meet them here. That way, we can reduce the distance they have to travel!"
Zhou Tong nodded and then said into the walkie-talkie, "Okay, Mr. President, then you should try to run this way. We'll meet you along the route you came from. Be careful on the way."
Upon hearing Zhou Tong's words, Freeman's eyes lit up with joy. He quickly gave a few instructions to the people beside him, and then they all hid in a slightly safer place to rest.
Gunshots continued to ring out behind him. Freeman felt he had rested enough, so he grabbed a handful of snow from the ground and stuffed it into his mouth to help him regain some strength.
He would never have dared to do this before, as he didn't know if there were any viruses in the snow on the ground. But now he couldn't care less. As long as he could gain some strength to escape those people's pursuit, it was all worth it.
Freeman, protected by several attendants, quickly headed east, while the pursuers behind him were slowed down because of the large area they had to search.
On the other side, Lu Yuan led the group in the direction Freeman and his group had come from, while he sent the plane into the dimensional space.
Lu Yuan dared not be careless now, after all, this was the post-apocalyptic environment. If the plane was really attacked, then their only means of transportation would be destroyed, and it would be almost impossible to walk across Mexico to reach Pakistan.
The group quickened their pace, their eyes filled with excitement. Their weapons and equipment had long been used up, and the only rifles they had left were the ones Shi Quan had placed on the helicopter.
If we can rescue Freeman and replenish his equipment this time, that would be fantastic.
Everyone carried their guns and marched westward, but they were much faster, covering the 20-kilometer distance in just over ten minutes.
While everyone was resting, Zhou Tong picked up the map and looked at it, then pointed to the location where Freeman and his group might appear.
"If we go any further, we might be entering the surveillance range of the United States. This place is very dangerous. Should we continue?"
Lu Yuan glanced at his watch and said, "Let's go. I'm worried that if Freeman and the others are too slow and get caught, it'll be troublesome. Let's find them as soon as possible, get the weapons, and leave this place!"
"Alright, let's rest for another five minutes and then set off!"
Lu Yuan didn't care much, and the other team members didn't feel anything either; twenty kilometers was just a piece of cake for them.
After all, they already possessed superhuman physical abilities before the apocalypse, and after eating the golden fruit, their physical abilities became even stronger than before, making it easy for them to run fifty kilometers in one go.
So everyone picked up their equipment and set off again. After walking a distance, Zhou Tong quickly raised his hand, and immediately everyone behind him squatted down.
"What's wrong? Are there soldiers from the United States up ahead?"
Zhou Tong shook his head, then pointed ahead: "I just heard a gunshot up ahead, did you hear it?"
"You heard the gunshot, but I didn't notice!"
Lu Yuan had been running frantically, so the wind was constantly blowing into his ears, making it impossible for him to hear anything outside.
Zhou Tong, on the other hand, was wearing noise-canceling headphones, so the wind didn't affect his hearing. He pointed ahead.
"You guys wait here for me, I'll go check the situation and see if they're Freeman's men!"
Lu Yuan nodded. He trusted Zhou Tong completely, after all, as an instructor from the special forces, he was the most skilled person when it came to reconnaissance.
Then Lu Yuan and the other dozen or so special forces members found their hiding places and began to wait quietly.
Zhou Tong vanished into the night like a ghost.
Although there were no lights nearby, Zhou Tong was still able to accurately find all kinds of cover. He kept hiding behind the cover and basically never stayed in the same place for more than five seconds.
