Chapter 765 The Terrifying Lunch at the Lighthouse Country Camp

"What's this smell? It smells weird."

Lu Yuan crouched down in the shadows of a corner and looked toward the source of the smell.

The lights in the distance were still on, and more and more people were leaving their posts.

Just then, a clanging sound came from behind him. Lu Yuan immediately crouched down, not daring to look up, afraid that a flashlight would shine on him and he would be doomed if he was exposed.

After waiting quietly for a few minutes, several team members suddenly passed by him. Lu Yuan was so frightened that he almost hid in the dimensional space, but he didn't. The flashlight beam was not shone in his direction, but shone directly along the path in front of him.

Several team members walked past Lu Yuan, chatting and laughing. Lu Yuan glanced at them in the beam of his flashlight and saw that they were carrying bowls, chopsticks, knives, and forks. He immediately realized that it was lunchtime for them, and the strange smell he had just heard was clearly their lunch.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Lu Yuan quickly got up and glanced into the villa estate. He saw that half of the people in the machine gun bunker had left, while the remaining half were still holding their posts.

The searchlights overhead would occasionally circle the camp. Lu Yuan quickly figured it out and then seized an opportunity to follow the crowd.

The risk of doing this was extremely high, and the sniper in the distance was terrified when he saw Lu Yuan's action.

Sensing the panic of the teammate beside him, another teammate asked with some surprise, "What's going on? Did something happen?"

The sniper handed his binoculars to the other man.

"Mr. Lu went in with their group; he planned to sneak into the villa!"

After the team member took the binoculars, he immediately felt a sense of panic. He quickly picked up the binoculars and looked in the direction the other person was pointing.

Although he couldn't see Lu Yuan's face clearly, he could still sense from the surrounding lights that there was someone whose build was extremely similar to Lu Yuan's, and it seemed to be Lu Yuan.

Lu Yuan followed behind the group, carrying a knife, fork, bowl, and chopsticks that he had taken from a dimensional space.

The people in front of him were chatting and laughing, while Lu Yuan kept his head down and followed behind them.

Upon arriving at the single-story concrete building, Lu Yuan joined the queue for food, just like the others.

There weren't many people getting food. At the very end of the table was a long table with two huge iron basins on it, which were probably filled with food.

However, the closer Lu Yuan got, the more nauseous he felt. He forced himself to continue queuing, secretly wondering if what these people were eating was the flesh of mutated beasts.

The people nearby chatted and laughed about what had happened that day. Lu Yuan didn't know what they were talking about. Everyone lined up in an orderly fashion, took their bowls, and handed them over. The chef would then scoop a spoonful of something from the iron pot and pour it into their bowls.

People who had gotten their food carried their bowls and chopsticks and squatted down to eat, while Lu Yuan quietly waited in line behind them.

Finally, it was Lu Yuan's turn. He pulled his hat down low. Everyone was wearing different helmets or hats, since the standard equipment had long been used up and many of them didn't even have military uniforms.

The person serving the food scooped a spoonful from the pot and poured it into Lu Yuan's bowl. Lu Yuan nodded slightly to the person, then picked up the bowl and walked to the side, finding a dimly lit spot to sit down. Lu Yuan looked around and, finding no one paying attention to him, felt relieved.

So he gently stirred the contents of the bowl, and instantly a wave of nausea rose from his stomach to his mouth.

He almost threw up because Lu Yuan found a finger in his bowl.

The fingernails still had some mud on them. Although he didn't know what skin color or race this person was, he could still recognize human fingers.

Lu Yuan wanted to throw away the contents of his bowl immediately, but he didn't, because doing so would definitely attract the attention of those around him.

He turned to look at the people beside him; they were all eating and chatting, looking very satisfied.

Seeing everyone's condition, it was clear they had become accustomed to this kind of food. Lu Yuan was shocked; he simply couldn't believe that these people had made cannibalism a habit.

Desperately suppressing the churning in his stomach, Lu Yuan waited for a long time before seeing a group of team members dump their food into the trash can. He quickly stood up and threw his bowl and chopsticks into the trash can as well.

There were no lights in that place, and the so-called trash cans were just things like septic tanks. People threw their things in there carelessly, and no one noticed.

Following behind them, Lu Yuan continued walking forward. At this moment, the two people in front of him suddenly felt someone following them and turned to look at Lu Yuan.

Lu Yuan lowered his head and continued walking forward, ignoring them. This was a normal thing for him to do, because strangers generally don't care about other people's gazes, and in such dim light, they couldn't possibly see Lu Yuan.

Seeing Lu Yuan continue walking forward, the two men didn't say much and started following behind him. At this moment, Lu Yuan's heart was pounding because there was no one in front of him, and he was walking at the very front. If he stopped now, the two men behind him might notice his abnormality.
