With that, the matter in Mexico was completely settled, and Lu Yuan felt much more at ease.
However, their mission is still very challenging. It is already January, and they don't have much time left. They haven't even reached the Amazon rainforest yet.
However, before going there, Lu Yuan still needed to send the president of Mexico out of the dimensional space.
Freeman has been living well in the dimensional space these past few days. He has everything he needs, except for some information from the outside world.
He didn't know where he was, why there was no sun in the sky, why it wasn't dark here, and why Lu Yuan had brought them into this place with a flick of his finger. He had so many questions he wanted to ask.
However, he knew that if Lu Yuan wanted to kill him now, it would be a matter of a snap of his fingers. Although he was the president of a country, he had been imprisoned in a concentration camp for so long that he had almost lost all contact with the outside world.
He's like a frightened bird now; the slightest sound or movement can startle him.
They were currently in a valley next to a small team stationed there. They had tried to ask the team for information, but due to the language barrier, they were unable to obtain any useful information.
Lunch consisted of various meats, vegetables, and rice.
When the team members were carrying the food, they placed it inside a pavilion.
The pavilion was a temporary structure, supported only by a few planks and four pillars. Inside the pavilion was a table and a few benches, and their living quarters were just a hundred meters away.
The living conditions weren't particularly bad, but they weren't excellent either. However, in the post-apocalyptic world, they were considered quite good, and the room was kept very clean.
The entire house was made of bricks and tiles, and there wasn't even any cement plaster. It was a miracle to survive in such an environment; comfort was out of the question.
Then several soldiers lined up and came to their quarters, gently knocking on the door.
"Mr. President, dinner is ready!"
In order to make Freeman understand them, the soldiers learned two English phrases. After listening to them, Freeman put down his book and stood up.
The books in his hand were several English translations that Lu Yuan had specially found for him by someone in the dimensional space.
These books were originally fantasy urban novels and science fiction novels that were widely circulated in China before the apocalypse.
Freeman has been reading books to pass the time when he's bored these past few days.
Hearing a knock at the door, he put down his book, looked up, and saw a soldier smiling at him, saying it was time to eat. He smiled and nodded.
After leaving the room, he came to the small pavilion and, as usual, exchanged pleasantries with the soldiers beside him.
But the soldiers had already eaten, and their mission was to protect Freeman's safety. In fact, it was very safe here, and there was no need for protection.
This was something Lu Yuan had specifically instructed them to do, in order to prevent Freeman and his group from discovering the secret of their dimensional space, so they were trapped in this deep mountain forest.
Freeman and his three men sat at the table looking at the exquisite food, but they had no appetite. He picked up his chopsticks, put them down again, and then turned to ask the soldier standing to the side.
Where is Mr. Lu? When will he be back?
"Sorry, I don't understand!"
"When can we leave? What's the current date?"
"Sorry, we don't understand that either!"
"Then you should know where we are right now, right?"
"Sorry, we really don't understand!"
All he got in return were "I don't know" or "I'm sorry," which left Freeman feeling helpless.
"Sigh, alright, let's keep waiting. Are we going to fall into a wolf's den after just escaping a tiger's lair?"
Freeman secretly wondered what was going on, but so far no one had interrogated them or mistreated them.
Their lives now are millions of times better than they were in concentration camps, and even better than they were in some of the poorer places in Mexico before the apocalypse.
He gently picked up a piece of meat with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth. Although his movements were very clumsy, Freeman had accepted reality. Through these few days of learning, he had mastered how to use chopsticks.
After eating a few bites, Freeman suddenly heard a noise not far away. He immediately put down his chopsticks and turned to look.
Then a familiar figure appeared over there.
"It's Mr. Lu! Mr. Lu is back!"
Freeman was excited, and his assistants were also very happy; they had been waiting for Lu Yuan for far too long.
Freeman immediately got up and ran towards Lu Yuan. When he arrived, Zhou Tong, who was next to Lu Yuan, also came over. His hands were already bandaged and his forehead was wrapped in bandages.
"President Freeman, I'm so sorry to have kept you waiting!"
Freeman waved his hand slightly: "Thank you for taking care of us during this time. We've been doing very well!"
"Yes, we've reached a safe place now. Although I don't know exactly where we are, I'm certain that we've escaped the control of the Beacon Country's camp. I think you should be safe now!"
Upon hearing Lu Yuan's words, Freeman felt an urge to cry.
