Chapter 773 Only by Sea

These people greeted Lu Yuan politely and expressed their gratitude.

Lu Yuan also exchanged a few pleasantries with the other party.

After Freeman spoke a few words to the group, everyone nodded in agreement.

Freeman then turned to Lu Yuan and said, "Mr. Lu, our current circumstances don't allow it, so please don't laugh at me. I want to give you a gift."

After saying that, he waved to the person next to him, and a tall man wearing animal skins immediately took out a medal from his pocket and handed it to Freeman.

Freeman reached out and wiped the badge a couple of times to remove some of the ash, then handed it to Lu Yuan.

Lu Yuan was slightly surprised when he saw the badge. It looked like it was made of pure gold, but this was the apocalypse. Gold was no match for food, and gold couldn't even buy food. Was the other party giving him such a badge just to express their gratitude? Lu Yuan was slightly disappointed.

However, Zhou Tong gently nudged Lu Yuan with his shoulder and whispered in his ear, "Goodness, this badge is no ordinary one."

"Oh? What kind of badge is this?"

Zhou Tong looked at the badge and thought for a moment: "If I'm not mistaken, this badge should be the exclusive badge of an honorary general in Mexico. I've been to Mexico before on missions."

Among the people who received us was a general, though his insignia wasn't as shiny or impressive as yours. That general was only a major general; if I'm not mistaken, your medal is almost that of a lieutenant general!

Upon hearing this, Lu Yuan was slightly taken aback: "What? General? Don't be ridiculous. How could a country just give away the rank of general to someone else? Even if I saved his life, I shouldn't be awarded the rank of general so easily!"

"It's hard to say. Their regime is almost on the verge of collapse. Before the apocalypse, their regimes were extremely unstable. Now that the apocalypse has arrived, the power in those areas has grown even stronger, and with warlord conflicts, their regimes are even more unstable. So, giving you a general's medal of honor shouldn't be a problem, after all, you don't have much power in your hands!"

Lu Yuan suddenly realized that he had remembered some of the conditions in the Mo Kingdom before the apocalypse.

Then, Freeman gave Lu Yuan a respectful salute, while Lu Yuan turned to look at Zhou Tong with some surprise, unsure whether he should accept it.

Zhou Tong nodded slightly and whispered, "Accept it. After all, he's the president. Give him some face!"

"Haha! Okay, I'll give you that courtesy!"

So Lu Yuan returned the salute.

Freeman then pinned the medal to Lu Yuan's chest and announced loudly, "From this moment forward, Mr. Lu Yuan is officially an honorary general of our country!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the Mexicans clapped, their eyes filled with smiles, and Lu Yuan knew that they were genuinely happy.

Lu Yuan smiled at them, then looked down at the badge on his chest.

"I've already discussed it with our leaders, and from now on, whenever you see this rank, you can mobilize any army within our country!"

The people around him nodded in agreement. Lu Yuan was slightly taken aback when he heard this. He turned to look at Zhou Tong and saw a hint of helplessness on the other's face: "Don't be too happy yet. The regime in Mo Kingdom is about to collapse. They probably don't have that many troops. It would be difficult to organize a force of more than 10,000 people!"

Lu Yuan didn't care about that; what he cared about was the other party's attitude.

After all, to be awarded such a high military rank to an outsider, especially a foreigner, is already a great honor.

Lu Yuan saluted the other man and expressed his gratitude. Freeman then chatted with Lu Yuan for a while. Before leaving, Freeman asked, "Mr. Lu, I just heard that you are taking people to the Amazon rainforest?"

Lu Yuan nodded slightly; he still had a good impression of Freeman.

Although this person is the president of a country, he is quite down-to-earth in his dealings with others and doesn't have much of an air about him.

"So, I wonder how you plan to get there? It's still over 5,000 kilometers from here to the Amazon rainforest!"

"Oh, we're planning to fly there!"

After Zhou Tong translated Lu Yuan's words, Freeman and the others behind him were immediately shocked.

Freeman then quickly said, "Mr. Lu, you absolutely mustn't! It's too dangerous to go by plane! I suggest you take a car to the coast first, and then sail to Pakistan!"

Hearing the other party's strong opposition, Lu Yuan was slightly surprised: "Why can't we take a plane? Taking a boat is too slow. We are in a tight schedule and have a heavy mission. We can't afford to delay any longer!"

At this moment, a bearded man next to Freeman said softly, "Mr. Lu Yuan, don't you know that a large number of mutated beasts have appeared here? They specifically attack passing planes, and now all air routes have been suspended. Nobody dares to fly anymore!"

After Zhou Tong translated these words, both Lu Yuan and he stared wide-eyed.

They weren't entirely clear on the matter yet, though they had encountered several attacks from mutated beasts in the air before, but fortunately, the plane hadn't suffered any serious damage.

However, after considering what the other party said, Lu Yuan felt that it was really as they said, that these monsters would attack their plane.

"But why would these monsters attack airplanes?"
