Waiting is one of the most exhausting things for a person's will.
Lu Yuan paced back and forth outside the delivery room like a cat on a hot tin roof.
Lu's mother was just watching from the side, tears welling up in her eyes. Lu's father and Xiaoshan's father exchanged a glance, their hearts filled with worry and all they wanted to do was smoke. However, the area outside the delivery room was a no-smoking zone, and after hesitating for a long time, they finally put down their cigarettes.
Seemingly to welcome the arrival of his great-granddaughter, the old man unusually put away his pipe. Although he was very anxious, he still didn't touch it.
Just as everyone was waiting anxiously, the elevator doors in the distance opened once again.
Wang Mingming rushed over with a group of people, and the nurse on duty at the elevator entrance immediately blocked their way when she saw so many people rushing in.
"What are you doing? Don't you know this is a hospital?"
The nurse on duty stared at Wang Mingming with a hint of anger on her face, while Wang Mingming, Shi Quan, and other managers and senior executives of the dimensional space city all showed anxious expressions.

Wang Mingming and Shi Quan glanced at the crowd, then at Lu Yuan's family standing at the entrance of the delivery room, before whispering to the nurse on duty.
"Nurse, how about this, the two of us go over? The rest of you can go down first?"
Chen Ling, who was standing to the side, was unhappy and immediately squeezed in: "You guys go down, I'll go with Tingting!"
Wang Mingming was somewhat reluctant. Although he was usually shy and didn't talk much, he had to come and see his niece since his sister-in-law was about to give birth.
"How about we senior staff stay here, and everyone else go down first? Too many people will disrupt the hospital environment and disturb the doctors in the delivery room!"
Finally, the nurse on duty nodded, quietly called out a few people, and then told the rest to go back to the lounge on the first floor to wait.
Then Wang Mingming, Chen Ling, and a few others came to the front of the delivery room.
"Brother Lu, is your wife about to give birth? I'm so sorry we're late!"
Lu Yuan waved his hand with a wry smile: "What's the use of you arriving earlier? That's my wife. Alright, stop meddling and go downstairs!"
Shi Quan, who was standing to the side, scratched his head and took out a bag from behind him, handing it over.
"I know, you probably haven't eaten since Miss Shan gave birth. I brought some snacks, Mr. Lu and your family, why don't you have some?"
After looking at the snacks they brought, Lu Yuan shook his head helplessly: "Forget it, I have no appetite right now. Take the snacks away and you can go back and wait. We'll take care of things here!"
Kong Hanting and Chen Ling looked nervously into the delivery room. However, there were no windows outside the delivery room, so they couldn't see inside. They stood in front of the door and peered through the crack for a long time but couldn't see anything inside.
"Lu Yuan, why didn't you inform us beforehand about something this big?"
Chen Ling glared angrily at Lu Yuan, while Lu Yuan shrugged and said, "I've never had a child either, how would I know? Xiao Shan just gave birth whenever she wanted!"
"Honestly, men are all unreliable. Oh well, I'll just wait here for Xiaoshan to come out!"
In the end, Shi Quan and Wang Mingming and the other men were driven away, while Chen Ling, Kong Hanting and the other women stayed outside to continue waiting.
As time ticked by, the atmosphere outside the delivery room grew increasingly tense.
Everyone was eagerly awaiting Xiaoshan's release, while Lu Yuan's mood shifted from excitement and nervousness to some worry.
He even had images of scenes from TV dramas flashing through his mind, like doctors running out with blood-covered hands and telling people outside to save both the mother and the baby.
For a moment, Lu Yuan's mind was in a whirl. He turned to look at his father.
"Dad, Xiaoshan will be alright, right?"
Lu's father stepped forward and slapped him on the head: "You brat, what are you saying? With so many experts here, how could anything happen? Mother and daughter are definitely safe. Just wait here. Giving birth doesn't happen that quickly!"
Although he was slapped by his father, Lu Yuan was not angry at all. He grinned awkwardly outside the door and continued to stand guard.
More than two hours had passed since they entered the delivery room, and there was still no movement. Everyone was getting impatient. Lu Yuan was getting anxious, so he quickly went to the nurses' station.
"I have a question. Why hasn't the baby been born yet after two hours? Can I go in and take a look? Isn't it always said that men can accompany women into the delivery room to give birth?"
The nurse on duty waved her hand slightly: "That was under the conditions before. We can't create a sterile environment in this dimensional space yet, so to ensure safety, no one other than the mother and the attending physician can be inside!"
"It's been two hours, why haven't they come out yet?"
