Chapter 801 Negotiation

Lu Yuan nodded: "Of course, no problem! Please go ahead!"

Freeman then stood up and waved to the people next to him, while Lu Yuan, Zhou Tong, and the others were arranged to rest in a temporary reception area.

After arriving at the rest area, Lu Yuan sat down in his seat and began to ponder.

Zhou Tong and the others also started whispering among themselves.

After a while, Zhou Tong walked up to Lu Yuan and said softly, "Lu Yuan, you have to be prepared this time. I just observed that President Freeman doesn't have much influence here. I reckon that he can no longer control the power in Mexico. So, it's very likely that our plan will fall through this time!"

Lu Yuan simply nodded slightly, because during the negotiations, he had clearly seen Freeman's behavior. Freeman actually wanted to help him, but every time he spoke, he couldn't help but look at the people next to him to see what they meant. Obviously, Freeman was just a puppet.

As a survivor who had lived through so many years, Lu Yuan was well aware of this situation. After all, in the apocalypse, only those who controlled food and other resources could easily seize power, and those with such abilities were basically various financial magnates and capitalists. The abilities they possessed were beyond imagination and could not be predicted by him at all.

Freeman is now in this awkward situation. Even though he has control of the government, he lacks resources, and his subordinates are unwilling to listen to him. Those who have food and resources have the most say.

Lu Yuan and Zhou Tong's guesses were correct. Freeman was currently sitting in the conference room with a worried expression, discussing this matter with some of his leaders.

Freeman sat in his seat with a gloomy expression, looking at everyone, a hint of anger flashing in his eyes.

"Why can't we help Mr. Lu Yuan? He saved my life! Without him, I'd probably be food for those bastards in the United States by now! He helped us rebuild our regime!"

The people around him fell silent after hearing this, and only spoke up after Freeman had finished venting.

“Mr. President, you should be very clear about our current situation! Our people are already starving! We have already sold off a large amount of our equipment. If this satellite is handed over to him, how will we live?”

"Yes, Mr. President, we have signed a sales agreement with the government of the United States. In a few months, they will send us a batch of supplies. With these supplies, our people can continue to hold on for a few more months!"

"Mr. President, we are in a very passive position now. The tycoons are no longer willing to fund us! Our chances of regaining power may face serious problems. For us, food is the biggest guarantee for regaining power!"

"..."

Upon hearing what the people below were saying, Freeman immediately understood.

He immediately slammed his fist on the table and roared, "You keep talking about food, but all you're really after is other people's food! They already gave us a lot of food last time. Aren't you going too far with your insatiable greed? They not only saved me, but they also gave us food. Are you really that greedy? We're friends! Friends, do you even understand what that means?"

At this moment, the people below whispered among themselves.

"Friends? They can't fill our stomachs! We need a long-term food supply, not a warehouse full of supplies that we'll still go hungry after we finish eating them!"

Freeman's face darkened, and he finally sighed helplessly before sitting down in his chair and taking out a cigarette from his pocket and lighting it.

After finishing half a cigarette, Freeman finally stood up: "Since you've made your decision, I'll go talk to him and ask if Mr. Lu Yuan can help us build a grain base, and if so, can we give him the satellite base in return?"

After hearing Freeman's words, everyone nodded in agreement.

After all, food was their biggest problem right now. When they first entertained Lu Yuan, the people below said that they didn't need to bring out any food to entertain him, but Freeman insisted on doing so, and he used his own food to entertain him.

He hadn't eaten all day, and the hunger in his stomach, coupled with anger, made him very disappointed in these people.

Then, Freeman said to his assistant, "Go and invite Mr. Lu and the others to the conference room again! Let's discuss this matter formally!"

The assistant nodded quickly and then rushed into the reception room.

Upon hearing the other party's words, Lu Yuan's face lit up with joy, and he said to Zhou Tong, "Haha, since they are willing to talk now, it means they definitely have satellites!"

Zhou Tong nodded excitedly: "Great! Now we don't have to go to the United States to steal their satellite base!"

So, the group quickly went into the conference room, where Freeman and a few others were waiting for Lu Yuan and the others at the door.

When Freeman saw Lu Yuan, a hint of apology flashed in his eyes, but it disappeared in an instant.

After shaking hands again, the two entered the conference room.

After everyone was seated, Lu Yuan, Zhou Tong, and their entourage sat on the left side of the table.

Meanwhile, the Mexican officials sat on the right, creating a very clear seating arrangement between the two sides.
