Chapter 839 Zhou Tong is in love?

After saying that, the woman left the room, her concerned expression melting Zhou Tong's heart.

He hadn't lived with a woman in a long time, and now suddenly a woman who could cherish him appeared in his life, which moved Zhou Tong deeply.

After a while, the woman came over with ice and put it to Zhou Tong's lips.

"It's okay, I can do it myself!"

However, the woman slapped Zhou Tong's hand away: "You're not careful at all! I'll do it! Lift your head up!"

So, Zhou Tong could only look up, and the moment his eyes met the woman's, he blushed.

He felt a tingling sensation in his heart, and his body was somewhat out of control, but since he hadn't yet established a relationship with the woman, he restrained himself.

And so, the woman used ice to apply to Zhou Tong's wound for a long time.

"It's alright! Just be more careful next time!"

Zhou Tong nodded, seemingly wanting to say something, but unable to get the words out.

Then Zhou Tong chuckled twice, picked up the bowl of soup, blew on it a few times, and then took a small sip.

After taking a sip, Zhou Tong couldn't help but give a thumbs up.

"It's delicious! It reminds me of the soups that old sergeant used to make when I was in the army. Yours is even better than his!"

The woman nodded in satisfaction and then handed over the side dishes she had prepared.

"Xiao Chen, don't just eat chicken strips, have some vegetables too. If there's anything else you want to eat, tell Auntie, and Auntie will make it for you next time!"

Zhou Chen knew what her father was thinking, and she didn't want to stay in this tent either, so she rolled her eyes, quickly stuffed all the chicken strips in the bowl into her mouth, rubbed the crumbs off her hands, and stood up.

"Auntie, I'm full, right? I want to go out and play for a while!"

After speaking, Zhou Chen couldn't help but blink.

When Zhou Tong saw this, he felt somewhat helpless about his quirky daughter. Of course, he wanted to get along well with Liu Qian, but with a burden like her around, he always felt at a loss.

However, it would seem inappropriate to openly send Zhou Chen away.

"Alright then, you can go play outside, but don't go too far. The tent area here is chaotic, so just play around nearby, understand?"

Zhou Chen grinned, revealing a set of pearly white teeth: "Okay, I'll be going now!"

Liu Qian stood up to say something, but Zhou Chen pressed her back into the chair: "Auntie, my dad is really indebted to you for taking care of him!"

After saying that, Zhou Chen dashed out of the tent, leaving only Zhou Tong and Liu Qian in the room.

She had originally thought that after Zhou Chen left, the awkward atmosphere between her and him would ease.

But unexpectedly, Zhou Tong felt even more awkward after Zhou Chen left.

He had no idea what to say or do, and he didn't even dare to look at Liu Qian.

Zhou Tong placed his hands tightly on his knees, his back straight, just like a new recruit undergoing training.

When the woman saw Zhou Tong like this, she couldn't help but cover her mouth and giggle.

"Brother Zhou, what do you mean by this? Do you think this is a military base? Sit up so straight, relax a little!"

Zhou Tong scratched his head sheepishly, then looked at the woman but didn't know how to start a conversation.

Meanwhile, Zhou Chen, after leaving the room, didn't know where to go.

She usually plays either at Lu Yuan's house or Shi Quan's house, since there are other children there to play with.

But when she arrived in the working-class district, she was completely unfamiliar with the place and the people. She had hoped to find some playmates like herself, but she found that there were very few children there.

She couldn't connect with these strangers, so she wandered around aimlessly, not knowing where she had ended up.

With a gentle kick, a small pebble was sent flying, and it landed squarely on a tent in the distance.

Zhou Chen quickly covered his mouth and then moved away to the nearby tent, afraid that someone inside might be hit by his falling object.

After squatting there for a while, Zhou Chen felt that her behavior just now seemed a bit inappropriate, so she mustered up her courage and prepared to apologize.

When she arrived at the tent, she saw several suspicious-looking people pacing back and forth nearby.

As Zhou Chen stopped here, some of the things his father had told him before suddenly came to mind.

“Dad said before that if you encounter bad people, don’t panic, use your brain. These people look suspicious and don’t seem like good people!”

So, Zhou Chen emboldened himself and continued walking forward.

However, she no longer intended to apologize; instead, she decided to go and see what these people were doing.

Fortunately, the adults were all focused on whether anyone else was coming from a distance, and they didn't pay any attention to a seven or eight-year-old girl like Zhou Chen.

So Zhou Chen walked over confidently without receiving any guidance. When she arrived at the tent, she secretly peeked inside.

Inside the small tent, several people were seen holding computers and doing something.

The other tents were lit with charging lights or candles, but this tent was completely dark, with only the light from a laptop providing any illumination.

Zhou Chen secretly felt that these people were definitely not good people.

So it looked around, then turned around a few tents before sneaking behind one to observe it.
