Chapter 170 Small Sign

When the copper lock was opened, Yue Jiuzai, who was standing to the side, seemed to sense something. She suddenly turned around, frowned at Yue Jiunian, and then took a few steps back.

When Yue Jiu Nian saw Yue Jiu Zai in this state, she also retreated.

When Uncle Zhao saw that the lock on the small box had been opened, he carefully opened the lid. However, when he opened the lid with high hopes and saw what was inside, he showed an incredulous and astonished expression!

"Holy crap! What the hell is this?!"

Uncle Zhao immediately dropped the small box he was carrying and stood to the side in surprise, saying, "What is this?! Why is this...?"

All I could see was a long string of small wooden plaques hanging out of the box that had been thrown on the ground. All the plaques were covered in bright red blood, as if they had just been doused with blood and put into the box!

Those who witnessed this scene were all frightened and hid to the side to look at the box.

"What are all these?"

"Oh my god, that's disgusting..."

Yue Jiu Nian frowned upon seeing this scene. She wanted to say something to Yue Jiu Zai, but before she could speak, she heard Lao Hei say, "What are all these things? How come there's so much blood? Hmm? There seem to be words carved on those small wooden signs."

Although Lao Hei was also surprised by what was inside the box, he was now more curious about the inscriptions on the wooden plaques.

He carefully reached out to pick up the wooden plaques on the ground, then tried to read the words on them: "Zhang Qingping? This is a person's name, right? And this one, also surnamed Zhang, is called Zhang Haihua..."

Old Hei flipped through several signs and found that they were all inscribed with names, and all of them had the surname Zhang. This discovery puzzled everyone.

Uncle Zhao, standing to the side, said, "They're all surnamed Zhang. Could they be from those villagers? I remember their village was called Zhangjia Village. And although these signs are very small, their shape looks quite similar to memorial tablets."

If Uncle Zhao hadn't said anything, everyone would have thought these wooden plaques were strange, but now that Uncle Zhao has mentioned them, they seem to think they are like spirit tablets, only much smaller than normal spirit tablets.

Actually, there's nothing wrong with the spirit tablets themselves. What's most puzzling is why these 'small spirit tablets' are placed in tree holes and covered in blood.

When Yue Jiuzai saw those small spirit tablets, she seemed to realize something, but she didn't say anything and just looked at them from afar.

Old Hei didn't know what those 'little spirit tablets' were all about either. He was about to put them back in the box when Yue Jiu Nian suddenly spoke up. She looked a little scared and hesitated before saying, "Um, seeing these little spirit tablets reminded me of a story I heard from someone before. The story said that if you want to curse someone, you carve their name on a wooden plaque on an old locust tree, then sprinkle it with blood, and chant a spell. That way you can curse that person at will. I was thinking, this story is so similar to these things, are the people in that ghost village all cursed?"

After Yue Jiu Nian finished speaking, she timidly shrank back behind Yue Jiu Zai, while Yue Jiu Zai also pretended to be very timid, but tried his best to protect Yue Jiu Nian, and stood in front of her.

After listening to Yue Jiu recite this legend, Lao Hei and Uncle Zhao looked on with a mixture of belief and doubt. Of course, there were others who believed the story and then looked worried, probably because they were afraid that the curse might affect them.

Seeing this, Old Wu went up to Yue Jiu Nian and asked, "Is what you're saying true? If it is, if we open this cursed box now, will we also be cursed?"

Yue Jiu Nian shook her head and said, "I'm not really sure about that either, but just in case, I think we should bury those little signs."

Although the story didn't sound very believable, the blood-stained little sign still made everyone uneasy. So, to put their minds at ease, Old Hei had a hole dug and buried them all, including the skeletons that had been hanging in the tree.

But when they buried the blood-stained signs with soil, the blood suddenly and mysteriously disappeared!
