Inside the dark cave, eerie ghost faces floated around. Yue Jiuzai frowned as she watched the ghost faces suddenly appear and circle around her. She suppressed her discomfort and went deeper into the cave.
Those outside the cave, upon discovering that Yue Jiuzai was missing, all wore serious expressions. The fat man timidly asked, "Boss, should we go down? That woman is gone, and there hasn't been a sound."
Old Hei looked at the broken rope, hesitated for a few seconds, and said, "Let's go down. The tomb door shouldn't have been opened yet. Nothing happened when we came here last time. It must be that brat causing trouble, trying to take the opportunity to escape!"
Old Hei said that's what he said, but he wasn't the first to go down, and the others didn't say anything either, seemingly not agreeing with his guess.
Seeing this, Old Wu pulled a dagger from his boot and said, "I'll go down and take a look first."
As he spoke, he used the rope that had bound Yue Jiuzai to tie himself up, then put the dagger in his mouth and bit it, before slowly going down into the cave.
Old Hei saw Old Wu's actions and a hint of worry appeared in his eyes, but he didn't say much. He just helped pull the rope and reminded him, "Be careful. If anything happens, shout for help or pull the rope."
Old Wu nodded and replied, "Mm~"
When Lao Wu went down, he found nothing inside. He didn't see Yue Jiuzai, nor did he see any bloodstains or signs of a fight.
The more he looked, the more suspicious he became. However, after finding no danger inside, he shouted to the people above, "Come down, there's nothing down there, it's safe."
Hearing Lao Wu's words, the others knew he was safe, so they all jumped down one after another.
After entering the cave, Yue Jiuzai discovered that there was a tomb passage inside. She found the passage and kept walking in, where she encountered many strange ghosts.
Although there were many of these ghosts, none of them dared to approach Yue Jiuzai, much less attack her. Instead, they all circled around her, as if they were observing something new and interesting.
When Yue Jiuzai saw them, he also found it strange. These ghosts were just ordinary ghosts, and they all seemed to be from different eras. Their clothes and hairstyles were different, and they didn't seem to be burial ghosts from the tomb. So he suspected that they might be wandering ghosts from the neighborhood who had come here. Otherwise, there shouldn't be so many ghosts from different eras.
The ghosts were all watching Yue Jiuzai, but Yue Jiuzai ignored them and kept walking into the tomb passage.
The air inside the tomb passage was so-so. Although there was no shortage of oxygen, the air was filled with the smell of earth, and it was quite strong. So Yue Jiuzai started to dislike it after a while, but she didn't say anything and just continued forward with a slightly unpleasant expression.
After walking for a while, she suddenly stopped and looked back warily, because she had just heard some faint sounds coming from behind her.
"Rustling sound~"
But when Yue Jiuzhai turned around, he saw nothing, and the voice had disappeared.
Yue Jiuzai frowned as she looked at the ghosts who had been following her, then suddenly asked, "Why are you following me? Who are you people?"
It was only now that Yue Jiu discovered that these ghosts were not only from different eras, but also that many of their body parts were incomplete, with many missing limbs, and their deaths were not very gruesome.
Those ghosts only knew how to follow Yue Jiuzai. They wouldn't answer her questions, so when she saw them following her like little shadows, Yue Jiuzai became a little impatient. However, she ultimately chose to continue ignoring them.
The tomb passage soon came to a fork in the road. When Yue Jiuzai stood at the fork, she heard strange noises behind her again. However, this time she did not stop. Instead, she chose to walk down the right fork because she felt that there was some ventilation on the right side.
In the woods, Yue Jiu Nian was sitting on the back of the crocodile-boar monster, and was even whipping her 'new mount' with a small twig.
"Giddy up! Let's go find my friends."
After being whipped by Yue Jiu Nian with a branch, the crocodile-boar monster obediently lowered its head to sniff the ground, then turned around and led Yue Jiu Nian to find Lao Hei and the others.
Actually, the crocodile-boar monster was initially unwilling to be Yue Jiu Nian's mount. However, after nearly causing Yue Jiu Nian to fall over and being beaten up by the furious Yue Jiu Nian, it became obedient and reluctantly became Yue Jiu Nian's 'mount'.
It's behaving itself now, but it still harbors resentment towards Yue Jiu Nian. It's just that it can't beat the person on its back, so it can only endure it for now.
Yue Jiu Nian naturally knew that this 'new mount' had a lot of complaints about her, but she didn't care. Anyway, she only needed it to catch up with the group as soon as possible. Otherwise, she wouldn't want to ride this ugly thing!
"Come on, don't worry. As long as you obediently lead me to those people, I'll let you go. Otherwise, you're dead!"
Yue Jiu Nian reached out and patted the crocodile-boar monster's back while pulling on its big ears, saying, "Did you hear me? Hurry up and find the person within half an hour."
Although the crocodile-boar monster wasn't a demon, it was very clever and could understand Yue Jiu's words. So, in order to escape its suffering as soon as possible, it became diligent and quickly found the scent on Lao Hei's body, then headed towards the cave.
