Chapter 209 Broken Sword

"Squeak~ Squeak~"

In a dimly lit, cramped room cluttered with miscellaneous items, several fat rats chased and played around, while in a corner of the room, several disheveled men, their hands and feet bound and their mouths gagged, huddled against the wall.

The men were now conscious, so they were disgusted when the rats ran around and even climbed on them, and they kept shaking their bodies to scare the rats away.

They were actually the homeless people who had gone missing. They had been captured by a terrifying-looking monster and thought they were going to die. They were so scared that they fainted on the spot. But when they woke up, they found that not only were they all alive and well, but they were also tied up and couldn't move.

The group of people had been locked up here all night. Although they didn't know why they had been arrested, they all had a premonition that if they didn't escape, they would definitely die if they stayed here. So when they saw light outside the window, they all tried to find a way to run away.

But before they could even make a move, they heard a 'click' sound, and then the door to the room was opened from the outside.

Around 8 or 9 a.m., after Yue Jiuling and Ya Zi had eaten and drunk their fill, they returned to the management office, where they could finally rest for a while.

Xiao Baicai was also in the office. When he saw Yue Jiuling yawning and squinting, he knew she was sleepy, so he very obediently lent her the small pillow he had bought earlier.

"Sister Jiuling, do you want to take a nap? You can borrow this."

Yue Jiuling was indeed very sleepy. She came back to the office intending to rest for a while, so when she saw the little cabbage pillow, she took it and said, "Oh~ thank you, Cai Cai, you're so good~"

She happened to be holding a glass of juice, which she had just bought outside, so she handed it to Xiaobaicai and said, "Here, have this. I'm going to take a nap."

Thank you!

The juice was orange juice, which Xiaobaicai liked, so he took the juice from Yue Jiuling. However, as soon as he turned around with the juice, he saw Yazi standing behind him, smiling at him.

"What's wrong, Brother Long? What are you doing?"

Ya Zi's smile puzzled Xiao Baicai, who asked suspiciously, "Brother Long, aren't you sleepy? Do you want to rest?"

Upon hearing this, Ya Zi immediately changed from a cheerful smile to a sleepy expression and said, "Hey~ How can I not be sleepy? I'm almost dead tired, but I have other things to do, so I can't sleep for now."

Seeing Ya Zi's expression, Xiao Baicai became even more curious and continued to ask, "Why? Is there something else you want to ask?"

Ya Zi looked around and found that there were only three people in the office: himself, Xiao Baicai, and Yue Jiuling. The other colleagues had not returned yet, and Yue Jiuling was sleeping and ignoring them.

Seeing this, he secretly took out a small package from his backpack. The package was wrapped in a small towel. Ya Zi opened the towel, revealing two broken wooden swords with bloodstains inside.

Ya Zi handed the wooden sword to Xiao Baicai and said, "Xiao Baicai, when you have time, help me examine this thing. You must find out the fingerprints and bloodstains inside."

Little Cabbage held the package in both hands, looking at Ya Zi with a puzzled expression, and asked, "Brother Long, where did you get this? Why are you checking?"

Ya Zi didn't dare to jump to conclusions. He simply said, "Don't worry about it. You'll probably find out eventually. Just help me look it up quickly. Oh, and you have to do it secretly, don't let anyone else know!"

"Uh, okay, I got it."

Although Xiaobaicai didn't know what Yazi wanted to do, she still agreed to help.

Watching Xiaobaicai leave with the small package, Yazi sat down in his seat and pondered. He didn't look sleepy at all now, but rather seemed to have encountered some problem, his face full of confusion and bewilderment.

Actually, the wooden sword he took to Xiaobaicai for testing was the one he got from Xu Bei last night. Yue Jiuling didn't see him when he got the wooden sword. But when he was holding the broken sword and wanted to tell Yue Jiuling, he sensed a very familiar aura on the wooden sword. That aura was very domineering, which made Ya Zi instantly think of an old acquaintance.

However, the old acquaintance in his memory had been missing for a long time, so long that everyone thought he was no longer in this world. That's why Ya Zi, who was holding the broken sword, secretly kept Xu Bei's broken sword and brought it back for Xiao Baicai to help examine it.

Less than five minutes after Ya Zi began to ponder, Ye Dongfeng and Yin Ni returned one after the other.

When Ye Dongfeng returned, he was carrying a large box, which was just an ordinary delivery box. But as soon as he came in, he put the box down heavily and then looked exhausted, holding his back and saying, "Oh dear, I'm so tired."

Hidden behind him, he said, "Is it really that tiring to just get one box? Dongfeng, your body isn't up to par. You need to exercise more."

"What the hell? You have no idea how heavy these things are!"

Ye Dongfeng pointed to the box and said, "Don't be fooled by its appearance; the contents inside are incredibly heavy."

Ya Zi, who had been listening to their conversation, curiously went over to look at Ye Dongfeng's box and asked, "What did you buy?"

Ye Dongfeng had already started using scissors to open the package. As he opened it, he said, "Oh dear, this is exhausting. It wasn't bought; my mom sent it to me."
