The border city of the demon realm.
In the darkness, Yue Jiu Nian was playing a game. She was playing a very simple match-3 game, which could be played without an internet connection, making this the perfect place to play it.
After passing another level, Yue Jiu counted the remaining hearts she had, then put down her phone, sat down on the edge of the bed, and stopped playing.
Five minutes later, Rou Rou returned.
Upon seeing Rou Rou, Yue Jiu Nian quickly approached her and asked softly, "How was it? Did you see anyone outside the city from the mountain?"
Rou Rou looked like she had just finished strenuous exercise, covered in sweat. She wiped the sweat from her forehead, her rabbit ears sticking out from exhaustion, and said, "Sister, I... I saw a little bit. The mountain is too far from the city, so I only saw a little bit from a distance. But it does look like a convoy. I checked the distance, and they weren't moving very fast. And it was all a convoy, so at this speed, they should be able to enter the city around dawn."
"Okay, that's great. Thank you for your hard work. Go and get ready, then come back and rest."
After learning the information she wanted to know, Yue Jiu Nian quickly told Rou Rou to go and rest.
Rou Rou nodded and immediately turned and went out. She had just run to the highest mountain in the border city because Yue Jiu Nian had told her that Tan Lang would probably enter the city tomorrow, so she asked her to run up the mountain to see if there were really people on the road.
Because Rou Rou is a rabbit spirit, she runs fast and is very familiar with the territory of Border City, so she went up the mountain without saying a word. When she saw the convoy, she hurriedly rushed back to report the news.
Yue Jiu watched Rou Rou leave, and then sat in the room for a while longer. But before Rou Rou returned, she left the room.
Yue Jiu Nian went to find General Lynx.
Because Rou Rou's house is too small, with only two rooms, Yue Jiu Nian shares a room with Rou Rou, while Qi You shares a room with General Lynx.
At this moment, Qi You and General Lynx were both inside the house. Yue Jiu Nian didn't know if they had gone to sleep or not, so she was wondering whether she should knock on the door and go in to call them.
"Meow?~"
Just as Yue Jiunian was struggling with her decision, a large tabby cat jumped next to her. Yue Jiunian heard the noise and turned around to see that it was a soldier from the army. Because there wasn't enough housing, they had all turned back into their original forms and were resting in the living room.
Upon seeing the large tabby cat, Yue Jiu suddenly had a brilliant idea. She immediately crouched down and whispered to the cat, "Hey, I want to call your general out. Do you have any way to help me? I don't want to disturb Qi You~"
Big Cat was actually quite puzzled as to why Yue Jiu was looking for their general so late at night, but he didn't ask anything. He just thought about it and nodded.
Seeing the big tabby cat nod, Yue Jiu Nian breathed a sigh of relief, because she roughly guessed that the soldiers in the army must have some peculiar way of contacting their leader.
Sure enough, after the big tabby cat agreed to Yue Jiu Nian's request, it went back into the hall and woke up one of its companions, who was also a lynx. After waking the lynx, the big tabby cat pointed at Yue Jiu Nian with its paw, and then pointed at Qi You and the lynx general's room.
Seeing the big tabby cat's actions, the lynx roughly understood its meaning. It quietly walked to Yue Jiu Nian's side, looked up at her, and Yue Jiu Nian whispered to it, "Help me call your general out. I have something to discuss with him. Remember, don't wake Qing Cheng."
After hearing Yue Jiu's words, the lynx nodded slightly. It then transformed into an animal, stood up like a human, and finally cast a small spell on the door of the room.
Less than a minute after the spell was cast, Yue Jiu Nian heard footsteps coming from inside the room. She didn't know who came out, although she felt that there was a high chance that it was General Lynx, but she still retreated to the side of the door to hide for a moment.
A "click" came from the doorway.
The door opened quickly, and the person who came out was indeed General Lynx.
"Shh~ You're out~ Qiyou wasn't woken up, was she?"
Yue Jiu asked General Lynx in a soft, stealthy voice, as if she were doing something wrong.
As soon as General Lynx came out, he saw Yue Jiu Nian by the door and immediately closed the door. He also secretly shook his head and said, "What's wrong? Is there something you need?"
Yue Jiu Nian beckoned General Lynx to follow her. She led her men out of the main gate, whispering, "Let's talk outside~"
Seeing Yue Jiu Nian's actions, General Lynx guessed what had happened. He waved for the lynx soldier and the big tabby cat soldier to go back to sleep, and then followed Yue Jiu Nian outside.
"I knew it! Why did you suddenly send me a message via the lynx? It was you. Tell me, what is it? Is it about the Greedy Wolf?"
When General Lynx saw Yue Jiu Nian's appearance, he roughly guessed that it was probably related to Tan Lang. Otherwise, Yue Jiu Nian wouldn't be so cautious, sneaking around and trying to avoid Kai You. It was obvious that this matter was related to Tan Lang.
"That's right, it's about the Greedy Wolf (贪狼) incident~"
Once outside, Yue Jiu Nian wasn't as cautious as before, but she still lowered her voice and said, "Let me tell you, I just sent Rou Rou up the mountain, the highest mountain in the whole town. She said she saw the convoy outside the city, and they'll probably be able to enter the city around dawn."
