Chapter Twenty-Three Conversation

Yue Jiuling also felt it was a pity: "Tsk, we had already caught one, but it got away. It's really infuriating."

Ya Zi stood beside her, looked at her clothes, touched his nose, and didn't say anything, but he seemed to be quite unhappy.

Actually, everyone was very unhappy. They were about to catch the suspect, but then a gust of wind blew him away. Anyone would be very upset about that, but there was nothing they could do now. He was gone, and they could only call it a day and go home to sleep.

After a long evening self-study session, Yue Jiu Nian finally heard the last bell ring for the end of the day. She was the first to stand up when the bell rang. Just as she was about to leave the classroom, her good deskmate Li Hui chased after her with a stack of test papers, shouting, "Hey, Jiang Nian, you forgot to bring your test papers!"

Yue Jiu Nian turned around and looked at her with resentment, then took the test paper and said, "You're toxic too."

Li Hui didn't understand what Yue Jiu Nian meant by that. She wanted to ask for clarification, but Yue Jiu Nian had already run off with the test papers, and she couldn't catch up, so she had to give up.

When Yue Jiu arrived at the school gate, the Jiang family's driver was already waiting, and Jiang Hai was also in the car waiting for her to go home together.

However, Yue Jiunian was in a bad mood. After getting into the car, she didn't greet Jiang Hai and remained silent with a dark face the whole time, making Jiang Hai afraid to talk to her. He wondered if he had offended Yue Jiunian at some point.

Once back at the Jiang family home, Yue Jiunian went straight to Jiang's father and asked, "Dad, have you finished settling my debts?"

Jiang Huzheng and the elderly couple Huang Qing were watching TV in the living room when Yue Jiunian asked him about this. He assumed that Yue Jiunian was worried that the creditors would come to cause trouble again. He nodded and said, "Yes, I had someone take care of everything this morning. You don't have to worry about anyone coming to cause you trouble anymore."

Yue Jiu Nian finally got the result she wanted, so she felt much more relaxed, and even the worries that had bothered her all day disappeared.

She sat on the sofa, happily crossing her legs, and said, "That's good. Now that everything is resolved, I'll leave tomorrow."

After Yue Jiu Nian finished speaking, she went upstairs. She planned to get a good rest tonight and then go back to find Yue Jiu Ling tomorrow.

Jiang Hu was puzzled when he heard her say this: "Niannian, you're leaving? Where are you going?"

Huang Qing and Jiang Hai were also completely bewildered, not understanding what Yue Jiu Nian meant.

Without even thinking, Yue Jiu waved her hand and said, "It means exactly what it says. I'm leaving here. I don't want to go to this lousy school anymore. That's it."

Upon hearing her words, Jiang Hu immediately went to follow her and ask what was going on: "Niannian, are you leaving? What's wrong? Why are you leaving home?"

Huang Qing and Jiang Hai followed her upstairs, wanting to know what was going on. However, Yue Jiu Nian walked quickly, returned to her room, closed the door, and said to them through the door, "I'm tired. Let's talk about it tomorrow."

Jiang Hu wanted to say something, but Huang Qing stopped him. She spoke to Yue Jiu Nian inside the room through the door, "Niannian, did you suffer any injustice at school? Tell Auntie, okay?"

Yue Jiu Nian found it amusing to hear her stepmother speaking to her in a tone that sounded like she was coaxing a child, but she still didn't open the door. She simply said, "I'm going to sleep. Let's talk about it tomorrow."

Seeing that Yue Jiunian still refused to open the door, Huang Qing gave up. She took her husband and son downstairs and said, "Alright then, Niannian, you rest first. We can talk about it tomorrow."

Although Huang Qing didn't like Yue Jiu Nian very much before, after experiencing the ghost encounter, he developed a different attitude towards her and began to treat her as his own child.

Yue Jiunian was not oblivious to Huang Qing's changes, but she would never play with this family, so she didn't care about their attitude. She came to the Jiang family for money, and now that she had the money, it was time to leave.

After Huang Qing and the others went downstairs, they returned to the living room to discuss what was going on with Yue Jiu Nian today and why she suddenly said she wanted to leave. As for not wanting to go to school, it wasn't a serious matter, because Yue Jiu Nian had already expressed that she didn't want to go to school before.

Huang Qing pulled his second son aside and asked, "Xiao Hai, do you know what's wrong with your sister today?"

Jiang Hai shook his head, puzzled, and said, "I don't know either. When she came back from evening self-study, she had a dark expression the whole time in the car. I don't understand what happened. Could it be that she was bullied at school?"

Upon hearing the words "bullied," Jiang Hu immediately became angry. He picked up the phone to make a call, saying, "How dare they bully my Niannian! They're so awful! I have to call the teacher to find out what happened and whether someone really bullied my daughter!"

Seeing Jiang Hu so agitated, Huang Qing quickly grabbed his hand: "Hey, Lao Jiang, we don't even know if someone really bullied Niannian yet. Don't be impulsive. Let's ask Niannian again tomorrow."

Jiang Hai also chimed in, "That's right, Dad. This matter isn't even clear yet, why are you calling the teacher?"

Jiang Hu calmed down and thought for a moment before saying, "Alright, let's talk about it tomorrow."

The next morning, when the maid went to wake Yue Jiu Nian, she found the room empty except for a note on the table with a few words written on it:
