"Tsk, this is indeed difficult. By the way, haven't we been able to find the parents of these children yet?"
Ya Zi also asked, "Seven or eight were rescued in total, but not a single one has been found?"
“We have a lead,” Lao Wen said. “Last night we posted the children’s photos online, and a parent called to say he wanted to identify the child. It just so happens that the child he wants to identify is normal, so now we are waiting for him to come over for a paternity test.”
"Oh, that's good too. Where are those normal children now? We want to go and see them."
Mu Xiaoyi looked at the children who were in a daze and said, "As for these, it's probably a problem with their souls. Let's wait until tonight to take a look. I can't really examine souls in broad daylight. Right now, I feel like their souls are not quite right."
"That's right, the soul is a bit scattered, and I don't know why."
Ya Zi reached out and touched a child's head, saying, "It's strange, the soul is complete, but it's scattered."
"Yes, that's what I saw that day too."
Yue Jiuling said, "Forget it, let's check on the other children first. I saw that they were all in a state of scattered souls that day."
"Sure, all those children are in our facility. I'll take you there now."
As he spoke, Lao Wen walked out of the ward, intending to take Yue Jiuling and the others to the police station.
Mu Xiaoyi said, "Then let's go see them first, and come back to see these later tonight."
Since it was still daytime and the children were still somewhat disoriented, the group didn't dare to pull out the children's souls to examine them, fearing it would make their souls even more scattered. Therefore, they decided to wait until night to examine them.
There are three other children who are healthy at the police station. All their photos have been posted online, and now they are waiting for their families to come and claim them.
When Yue Jiuling arrived at the police station, she saw the three children. They were two boys and one girl, aged about five to eight years old. They all seemed to have cheerful personalities and were playing with the uncles and aunts at the police station.
"They're all better now. When they were first rescued, they couldn't speak. The hospital said they were given medication that temporarily made them deaf and mute. But after taking the medication, they were fine. Those people still have some conscience; they just gave them medication, not actually poisoned them."
Old Wen looked at the children and said, "It's fortunate that you were here, otherwise we would never have known that children were being held in that place!"
"Well, we only found out after we received a report, otherwise we wouldn't have known."
Yue Jiuling walked up to a girl and said, "Hey, do you remember me?"
The girl didn't seem to remember Yue Jiuling who had rescued her. She timidly hid next to a policewoman and peeked out at Yue Jiuling.
The policewoman knelt down to comfort the girl, saying, "Little sister, don't you remember this older sister? She's the one who rescued you!"
The girl heard the policewoman's words but still couldn't remember Yue Jiuling. She just shook her head at Yue Jiuling and then hid again.
Seeing that the other party no longer remembered her, Yue Jiuling was not angry. After all, the children were all silly back then, so it was normal for them not to remember.
She stepped forward and reached out to touch the girl's head, sensing the state of her soul. Finding that the soul was no longer in a scattered state, she said, "Hmm, it's alright now. I'll have Xiaoyi give her a talisman to calm her down later."
"Are you alright? Let me take a look too."
Upon hearing Yue Jiuling's words, Mu Xiaoyi reached out and touched the girl, saying, "Yes, she's alright now. Here, let me boil some talisman water for you to drink."
As she spoke, Mu Xiaoyi asked Lao Wen to pour her a glass of warm water. Then she touched the heads of the other two boys and, finding that they were both fine, lit a soul-stabilizing talisman and dissolved it in the warm water, so that all the children could drink some.
"Will everything be alright then?"
Old Wen watched as the children drank the Soul-Stabilizing Talisman Water, then asked, "Won't there be any relapse or anything like that?"
"It shouldn't be the case; my soul is perfectly normal now."
Mu Xiaoyi said, "They can all go back to their families now, but we don't know what the situation is like in the hospital. We won't know until tonight."
"Let's wait until evening to go. It's already dinnertime, let's go eat first."
Ya Zi glanced at the time on his phone and said.
Hearing his words, Yue Jiuling knew that this foodie was hungry, so she also said, "Xiaoyi, where shall we go to eat?"
When Lao Wen heard them say they were about to eat, he quickly suggested, "Oh dear, it's already lunchtime without us realizing it. How about this, I'll treat you to dinner!"
"That's great! Thank you so much, Lao Wen!"
Upon hearing that Lao Wen was going to treat them to dinner, Mu Xiaoyi immediately nodded in agreement. She then happily said to Ya Zi and Yue Jiuling, "Oh dear, we've been helping out all day, and we're even eating out now!"
"Yeah, but I might have to work overtime tonight~"
Yue Jiuling deliberately mentioned the word "overtime," and sure enough, Mu Xiaoyi became a little anxious the next second. She said, "Oh dear, why don't we go to the hospital now to check on the children's souls? I don't want to work overtime!"
Seeing that Mu Xiaoyi remembered she might have to work overtime, Yue Jiuling smiled and reminded her, "That won't do. It's not dark yet. We should at least wait until it's completely dark before we can examine the souls."
