In the vibrant campus, Yue Jiu Nian was taking a stressful exam in the classroom. She looked at the math test paper on the table, glancing at it from left to right, front to back, racking her brains, but still couldn't figure out how to fill in the answers.
Finally, she gritted her teeth, picked up her pen, and started scribbling on the optional questions. There was no other way; as an illiterate monster, it was already a miracle that she didn't submit a blank paper.
'Ding-ling-ling~' The exam time was over. Yue Jiu Nian handed in the test paper with her name and answers written crookedly, and then sat and waited for get out of class to end.
After the teacher collected the math test papers, the girl with glasses sitting next to Yue Jiu Nian suddenly asked her, "Hey, Jiang Nian, what's the answer to the third-to-last question on page three?"
Upon hearing her question, Yue Jiu Nian replied listlessly, "Oh, I didn't do any of the later big questions. I only did the multiple-choice questions." She couldn't even understand the later big questions, so how could she possibly do them?
Upon hearing this, the girl with glasses widened her eyes in surprise, pushed up her glasses, and said, "No way, you're kidding me. How could I not write anything? How many points could you get from multiple-choice questions?"
Yue Jiu nodded and said, "I really didn't write anything. I don't know how to write anything. By the way, is there another test later?"
"Yes, there's an English test later, and then the tests for the morning will be over. We'll continue in the afternoon."
The girl with glasses continued, "Hey, tell me what's wrong with you. I heard you had excellent grades at other schools, so why can't you do the problems here?"
Yue Jiu Nian rested her chin on her hand and looked at her, saying, "You know that was before. Can the past compare to now? I haven't been to school in so long. I've forgotten everything I learned before. I'm practically illiterate now."
"No way, it's not that serious. You just took a break for a while, is it really that big of a deal? Even if you missed some lessons, you can catch up quickly with your previous foundation."
The girl with glasses was still unconvinced. She flipped through her book and said, "Oh well, since you didn't do that question, I'll go ask someone else. I have a feeling I did it wrong."
Yue Jiu watched as the girl with glasses walked past her to the next table to ask a question, so she lay on the table thinking. She was starting to feel conflicted again. Although having a body made things much more convenient, it also meant facing a lot of troubles.
For example, the family and relatives that this body originally had, as well as issues such as going to school and taking exams, all made her feel that these things were a waste of time, and she couldn't even do anything for herself.
But if I were to ask her to commit suicide now, I'd be a little reluctant...
"Ugh, life is so hard for me. Why is being a person so difficult?"
Just a few minutes after Yue Jiu finished venting her frustrations, the school bell rang again, and soon their second test was about to begin.
Compared to the math subject last time, Yue Jiu Nian felt that the two subjects were really like brothers, because she couldn't understand either of them.
"Okay, fine, let's do it the same as before. Just randomly pick the multiple-choice questions and ignore the rest."
After quickly finishing the test, Yue Jiu Nian gave up and lay down on the table to sleep. Since she didn't know anything, what else was there to do but sleep?
The morning passed quickly. While the students handed in their exam papers and happily went to the cafeteria for lunch, Yue Jiu Nian was still asleep, catching up on the sleep she had taken the night before.
"Jiang Nian! Someone's looking for you!"
Suddenly, someone shouted Yue Jiu Nian's name, which startled her awake.
"Huh? Who's looking for me?"
Yue Jiu Nian, with a sleepy face, looked towards the classroom door and saw Liu Zhan grinning foolishly.
Liu Zhan, holding several books, stood at the door and waved to her: "Sis~"
Yue Jiu Nian didn't know why this silly child wanted to see her, but she still got up and went over: "What? Did you need something?"
Liu Zhan smiled and pulled Yue Jiu Nian away, saying, "What could be wrong? Of course, I just wanted to have dinner with you. By the way, sis, how did you do on your exam?"
Yue Jiu Nian let Liu Zhan pull her along. She raised her hand to rub her eyes and said, "Oh, it's lunchtime. You mean the exam? I didn't know. I just wrote random answers."
"Huh? You just wrote it randomly? Seriously? Do you really think you can get it right just because you wrote it randomly?"
Yue Jiu shook her head: "How would I know? I don't know anything. What can I do besides scribble nonsense?"
Liu Zhan looked at Yue Jiu Nian in surprise and said, "Oh well, never mind. I heard from your aunt that you haven't been to school for a long time. If you don't know how to do the questions, just write whatever comes to mind. I hope you'll be lucky and guess right."
The school cafeteria was already packed with people. Yue Jiu Nian looked at the long lines at each food serving window and said, "Wow, how come there are so many people? I remember there weren't this many people last time I came."
Liu Zhan also looked at the long queue and said, "Today is a bit special. In the past, many people didn't like eating in the cafeteria and would choose to eat outside. But recently, there are exams, so in order to save time and use more time to study, many people have chosen to eat in the cafeteria."
After Liu Zhan explained, Yue Jiu Nian understood. She clicked her tongue and said, "With so many people, who knows when it will be our turn? Are you sure you want to eat here?"
Seeing so many people queuing up, Yue Jiu Nian instantly lost her desire to eat, because she found it too troublesome and too lazy to queue.
Although Yue Jiu Nian and Yue Jiu Ling are the same person, they are different. Their biggest difference is their patience. Yue Jiu Ling can queue for hours to eat a discounted sauerkraut fish, but Yue Jiu Nian can't. She would rather not eat than go through the trouble of queuing for a meal. That's the difference between a foodie and a lazybones.
